TYM : Nice place you've got there. I must say it's one of the better decorated homes I've seen!
-
Are you using an ID for your renos? If you are, you can check with them because I know there are many other companies out there who do wallpaper, other than Goodrich. Off hand now, I can't remember the names. Sorry!
-
I wonder if there's someone/somewhere we can feedback to? Hmm....
-
I understand from my ID that wallpaper should always be installed last, when ALL your renos have ended. The wallpaper supplier will provide the installation and the material. Not sure about warranty but you can always check with Goodrich. Just pop by their office at Changi. LOTS to choose!

Hi all, Saw the ad in the Straits Times on Saturday (17 May). Friven & Co is having a sale with up to 70% off on bedsheets, household items, etc. Good deals! I just went to pick up some bedsheets, quilt covers, etc, all at 70% off. If you drive, go to the Jalan Kilang main outlet. More choice there.

HDB flat have balcony attached with Masterbedroom? -
I've had a ceiling fan in my room and living room for TEN years and nothing horrible has befallen me yet. A lot of IDs say that but you have to think about it - is it your home or a showflat? We live in Singapore. It WILL be hot and humid. If you do not install a fan just so that you don't want to "lower" the ID look (which is a whole lot of BS anyway), that's quite silly, isn't it? And as mentioned by yokine9a, there are lots of fans out there who look nice. If you don't want to spoil the look, use a PLAIN WHITE SIMPLE fan with no lights, etc. It will just blend into the white ceiling. My point is, don't be swayed by what your ID tells you because ultimately, it is YOUR house and YOU have to make that decision. They can only advise.

Hey! I think I know who you're talking about. I believe the person you're talking about is the same guy who answered my call when I rang to check on delivery date. The one whom I bought my stuff from, Dennis, is a lot friendlier and "normal". Someone should make a complaint to management about this guy. It's not as if we are buying a $5.99 dining table!!!! In fact, I think sometimes, you'd probably get better service at $5.99 places. Tsk. His attitude is as if we can't afford but hey, if you bought so many items from him (which I'm sure cost quite a bit!), he should at least look thankful. GRRR!! Bad service really pisses me off.

Interesting. My FS master says it's ok. Anyway, I guess to each his/her own

The Ceiling Fan Debate
ene replied to reload72's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
Hi socks! My place is not a HDB flat so the fans are actually mounted on an actual ceiling (not false ceiling). When I turn it on at full blast, it doesn't shake but it's super noisy! So I'm a bit concerned about that. My fiance thinks that it's because the house is empty so noise is amplified. Am keeping my fingers crossed that it'd be ok once all the furniture and stuff comes in. If not, I'd be super irritated and end up turning on the aircon which defeats the whole purpose of fans in the first place My downlights are with white rims. Our house theme is generally white so we went with the white ones. Yes yes, go for plain white ones if you don't want your fan to stand out. I wanted a black fan for my MBR to match my black chandelier but my ID was quite horrified Hehe. -
The Ceiling Fan Debate

I learnt something interesting from the fan people and ID. If you don't want your fan to be noticed, buy plain white fans without lights and make sure your ceiling is WHITE too. In this way, it's not obvious. If you want it as part of design of house, then by all means, get the fancy ones. My home is not ready yet (only paint, lights and false ceilings up) but here are pictures of a simple white fan. I have the exact fan in living room and MBR. Will post more (if anyone's interested) when everything's in! Living room MBR -
Ah thanks! There are a couple of T series fridges that I saw in the brochure. We chose this because amongst all, its dimensions can fit NICELY into the space allocated for our fridge! Btw, where did you purchase your fridge from? I have another question: The fridge comes in the usual "plastic" coating and the slightly more expensive "stainless steel" coating. I am thinking of getting the stainless steel one as it looks nicer but I've also heard that it may rust after a couple of years. Anyone has comments about that? For that matter, is anyone using any "stainless steel" finish fridge? Any problems so far? Cos I think it's really nice but am just afraid of it looking horrible after many years.....

Hi all, I tried looking for information on this particular model of Mitsubishi fridge but I just can't seem to find anything on it! Is it a new model? This is from the official site: http://www.mitsubishielectric.com.sg/index...2&Itemid=84
-
The fridge you got is the one I'm eyeing. Did you get the "normal" coloured ones or the "stainless steel" one?
-
Am thinking of getting something similar from Ikea. The cheaper variations. Haha. Going to placed in the kitchen so I'm guessing that it'd be dirty after a while. So get a cheap one so that it's easier to just buy a new one to replace next time!

I've got a quick question for everyone. Our ceiling fans just got mounted and when I turned them on, at level 1, it was ok (not much sound). But the moment it got to level 2 and 3, wah, **** loud! As in, you can clearly hear the "whirring" noise. Is this normal? My fiance say perhaps the noise is louder because our home is still empty (renos still on). Should I change to a "quieter" fan? I have a three blade.
-
Hello! Yes, the Supersaver one is cheaper because of the following reasons: 1) Tourist-class hotels (vs Deluxe hotels in Premium brochure) 2) More options (meaning: you need to pay more when you're there to visit attractions) 3) Less hotel nights at each city (may be a little more hectic, i.e. change hotels every day) If you can afford the Premium one, especially for a honeymoon, go for it! Don't forget to factor in all the optional tours you want to do (e.g. go up to Eiffel Tower - this costs money) because sometimes, it becomes more worthwhile to take the Premium brochure although upfront, it's a lot more expensive. Ultimately, it really depends on yourself and your budget Also, did you check if the tour you want is still available? Insight tours sell out very fast, especially during summer time! Lots of tours in June already sold out leh!

Which Robinsons? Centrepoint or the Raffles City one? Thanks!

Best Shop For Fridge & Washing Machine?
ene replied to plasterger's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Thanks for the info. Just as I expected. Not looking at the instalment plan. We'd be getting the fridge and washing machine as gifts so thought I had better check first. I guess we'd have to bring the "gifter" down to the shop with us then or we can pay first. Hehe -
Personally, I was touched by the boy's proposal because he went alone to choose the ring and did not tell a single soul about it. He chose a ring that he thought I'd like (I love it!) instead of the typical solitaire diamond ring. To me, the effort he put into choosing the ring and actually listening to what are the types of rings I like, says a lot about his consideration and love. He proposed at The Venetian at Macau, by the "river" It was my birthday and it was supposed to be my "birthday treat". On the actual night of my birthday, he took out the ring and popped the question. My first reaction was "Are you kidding?" LOL! **** funny. But in the end, all's well that ends well. We're busy getting our new home ready and will be planning for the wedding soon (next year - 09).

What about the Grand Hyatt? Good location, etc. Am considering it.

Best Shop For Fridge & Washing Machine?

Btw, can I check if places like Goh Ah Bee take credit card? Or is it purely cash-only transactions? Thanks a lot! -
The space allocated for a fridge in our new home is super tiny (L690 x D550 x H900). As such, this really limits the type of fridge we can buy. Been looking around the usual places and I quite like the Panasonic one because it fits our budget and space constraint. Can't remember the model now (got it written down in my notebook somewhere). It looks like this: Anyone is currently using it? Feedback/comments? I like it that the freezer is at the bottom because I can foresee us (only me and fiance) using the top area more often (drinks, eggs, chocolates, etc).

I am bumping up this topic because I am still considering if I should get the shaggy rug. I've been told by home owners that it's hard to maintain. In fact, my soon-to-be sis-in-law ended up washing the carpet and keeping it in storeroom because she found it hard to maintain But I really like the idea of the carpet! Aiyah, such a dilemma. I'd appreciate any comments/feedback from home owners who own such a carpet, such as how often need to wash, vacuum, etc. Tks!

Wah really? Ok ok. Actually, I got a friend who was using Elmark at her living room. Apparently, her fan is not working properly after 5 years already. Oh and one more thing. I was advised to get fans with lesser blades (i.e. about 3 is good enough) because if you get those with 5 blades or more, it's heavier which means the rotating becomes slower and hence, less wind. True or not?
