  1. There's a shop called Zone from Denmark at Raffles City. It's very expensive (at least to me!) but currently, because of GSS, they are having up to 70% off! Just bought 6 small soup bowls from there. $10.50 each less 70%
  2. Tell me about it! I was eating prata on a small table while sitting on my carpet and a small bit fell onto the carpet but no matter how hard I tried, I COULDN'T FIND IT!! I think I had better do a massive vacuum tomorrow
  3. I totally know what you mean!!!! I really hate it when people are so inconsiderate! And yes, how come the gf can tahan? Sheesh! But really, what can you do in such an instance but to grin and bear with it? Am going to watch Kungfu Panda tomorrow so I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed that I won't encounter weirdos.
  4. Thanks for the compliment The sofa you see above does not have a sofa cover so I'm just nervous that when it gets dirty, I can't just remove it to clean. What we did is to buy a throw from Ikea (like a big piece of cloth) to put over it. Now I feel 'safer' and can 'safely' put my legs up when watching tv. Hehe. We got the carpet from a friend because she did not want it anymore so not sure what's the cost. It's lovely, isn't it? I'm just not sure about upkeeping it. Probably need to vacuum all the time!
  5. LOL! Now that's funny. I imagine a person waving their hands very madly in front of their faces, in a "fanning" manner with a very annoyed look on the face. Hehehehe. But some people just DON'T GET IT.
  6. Our sofa from Lifestorey. It was delivered yesterday. Am so happy with it but now, worried that it'd get dirty easily. In the living room:
  7. Service is not bad? Hmm. I had a vastly difference experience from you. It was my second visit to the showroom. Our first visit was on a weekend and it was packed so we just helped ourselves and looked at the samples, etc. Did not speak with any sales staff because they all looked super busy. Just a couple of hours ago, we popped into their showroom at Changi again. It is a Tuesday afternoon and we were the ONLY customers in the entire showroom. Again, not a single person approached us. No biggie. I went to one lady who looked very busy on her laptop to ask nicely if we can see some samples similar to a particular one on their wall. She got up with a "one-type" face, went to the shelves and pulled out a couple. She then went back to her laptop. Hmm. Ok fine. So we just browsed the selection. We actually wanted some help but seeing that every sales staff there looked very busy and perhaps we were invisible, we just compared wallpapers and in the end, settled on two patterns. Again, I went up to the same girl and asked her for a quote. I gave her all our wall measurements and asked her for 2 quotes. She looked as if I just took her precious time away from her work and grudgingly went to calculate the price. Let's just say that I ask one question, she answer one question. I asked if nett price, she say, must add GST. I ask can you add for me? Then she added. Faints. By then, I was getting annoyed. It's not as if I'm buying a $8 item can?! I wasn't expecting BRILLIANT service but some sort of BASIC service would be appreciated. Best thing is, when I wanted to confirm my order, she disappeared! Maybe she was hungry because I think she ran away for lunch. It was about 12.30pm then. I had to ask another staff to help me and even though she was less curt, she was still less than friendly. Again, I felt as if I was 'intruding' on their work. WAH LAU EH! I called my ID to ask him and he said, the showroom people all very dao one. Tsk tsk. I hate to go to places where I'm paying them and I have to put up with their bad attitude. I repeat, I wasn't a difficult customer. I was asking very basic questions (I think I asked like THREE qns at most!) and already, their attitude was horrendous to say the least. It probably stems from the fact that no matter what kind of s*** attitude they give, people are still going to go to them. WTH. Ok, rant over

I just saw your t-blog. Interesting lights! Brave of you to order something through the net though!
  9. Are you referring to the type they use at retail shops? My mum has been using Novita and she is full of praise for it. It works very well and in fact, we no longer use an iron at home Most of the major department stores as well as electronic stores (Courts, Harvey Norman, etc) carry it. I also hear from my mum that if you go direct to their factory at Tagore Lane, can get additional 5% off Website: http://www.novita.com.sg/
  10. Hey! I encountered such people before too! It's SUPER IRRITATING!!!!! I've also met some idiots who must REPEAT everything the character say. E.g. If the character says "Oh my god, what is going on?". The idiot will parrot "OMG, what is going on?" and then add his own comments. What the **** man?!!? Reading all your replies and experiences make me realise that inconsiderate people really exist EVERYWHERE. And oh, I must try that popcorn trick one day. Can "accidentally" spill the popcorn over irritating idiots.
  11. Haha. You know I'm just joking It's just something I DREAM of doing because I get very irritated by inconsiderate behaviour. It's like, hello? You pay for cinema tickets, I also paid. So how come I become irritated due to YOUR stupid inconsiderate behaviour?! Sighs. That's a good one!
  12. Our study room in 'Lollipop'! I love it because it's so bright! MBR Living room Feature wall of living room
  13. Our full-length, custom-made wardrobe with 'Godiva Luxe' laminate. We chose sliding doors. Closed doors Left open Right open Drawer with partition for belts, ties, etc We bought these 3 baskets from Ikea and our ID fixed it up for us
  14. Nice curtains! For my MBR, we used white sheer for the day curtains on top of the black out ones. Looking at your pictures, I wonder if we should use a dark sheer day curtain. Hmm...
  15. What kind of excuse is that?! Aiyoh! Can forget one meh!? That's really quite unprofessional, to say the least. Then again, there are many people here with good experience at Jimmy Textiles. Hmmm.
  16. Bring a baby into the cinema?!! WAH LAU! That's the ultimate. VERY VERY inconsiderate people! Just bloody rent the DVD lah! Tsk! Some people really just don't. get. it. even when people around are asking to shut up. I always dream of beating up such people.
  17. Hmm... haven't heard of Tachikawa brand. Is it supposed to be good? How does it compare to other generic brands then?
  18. THIS IS BRILLIANT! I just wish I had the courage to do something like that. And another pet peeve: Why do people insist on checking their sms DURING the movie, hence lighting up the entire space around!? WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY? If their social lives are so important and they CANNOT live without text messages from their friends, then don't go to the cinema lah! If you REALLY must check your sms, couldn't you do it subtly, i.e. holding it under your jacket or something so that it doesn't light up the world?!
  19. It is ultimately, YOU lying on the mattress. If a $400 mattress feels good and comfortable, get it then!
  20. Word of caution: This is a rant. Last night (Friday), the boy and I were watching the 7.05pm screening of Sex and the City at Tampines Mall. The cinema wasn’t 100% full. I’d say that it was 60% full with most of the audience packed like sardines towards the back, obviously. During the gazillion advertisements and trailers (did you know that GV screens at least 20 minutes of ads/trailers before the movie?), we soon noticed that seated RIGHT behind me was a man with a female companion. We noticed him because he was making all sorts of weird comments during the trailers/ads. Yes, the movie hasn’t bloody begun. The boy and I turned around a couple of times to give him the EYE. His companion shushed him once. He stopped for all of 2.7 seconds. Soon, the movie began. I was really excited and couldn’t stop beaming to myself because I was finally watching Sex and the City! WOOHOO! My happiness lasted all of 3.4 seconds. Thanks to that f***ing nincompoop seated behind me, we were subjected to a running commentary of HIS emotions and expressions. There wasn’t much of a range to start with. It was usually one or a combination of the following: Wah lau! Uh oh. Hehehehe. Waaaaah!!! Oooooooh. Wah piang eh!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeuw! His constant repertoire of random exclaimations lasted THROUGHOUT the 2 hours and 28 minutes show. I mean, c’mon now. I understand that watching SATC may have been an almost religious experience for him but did he have to react to every. ****. scene? There was, of course, a small degree of nudity in the movie and you should have heard the way he reacted. It was as if he has NEVER EVER seen a naked female body in his entire life! His reactions weren’t sexual but he just sounded goddamn excited! Oh wait a minute. Maybe he really hasn’t seen a naked female bod in his entire life because he did look like a bloody sad existence of mankind. I shot him the LOOK many a times THROUGHOUT the movie. At one point, I even did a very loud “TSK!!!!!”. Did he get it? No f***ing way. I was this close to shoving a mop stick (which the boy bought from Muji but that’s a story for another day) up his fat-laden arse and telling him to SHUT THE F*** UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE ARE TRYING TO WATCH A MOVIE HERE! Beating him up into a pulp would have been a fantasy come true as well. But I did not. We just sat there in angry silence, willing him to just shut up. I really really just wish that I had the courage to tell such f***ers off though. I really do. What would YOU have done?
  21. We just got recommended to a Mr Chew. He works from home and would turn up with his samples at your place to do measurements and choosing of materials. Sounds a bit blur and lost on the phone but is quite ok and friendly in real life. He was also helpful in recommending the appropriate colours and materials. We went to Jimmy Textiles previously and they were definitely more expensive. Also, I prefer seeing the materials AT our home rather than at a shop because it was hard to visualise the effect. We got the following: Living: Day curtains (one layer) MBR: 100% blackout and day curtains (two layers) Study: 1 roller blind Kitchen: 1 roller blind Yard (with washing machine, etc): 1 bamboo chick Total cost= S$1050 nett. Mr Chew informed that the MBR materials are from Europe while our living room ones are from Turkey. When we asked for cheaper prices, he said there are the made-in-china ones but in the end, we stayed with our original choices Will try and post up pix once it's done, if anyone's interested!
  22. The main branch at Jalan Kilang. I'd recommend going there, especially if you drive. A lot more choices, esp when it comes to bedding. Free parking too!
  23. For all of you looking for bedsheets, quilt covers, etc, go check out this sale. Pretty good deals. REALLY up to 70% off (I already bought some last week). Btw, am NOT related to Friven & Co. Just sharing sale news
  24. But that would depend on the type of wardrobe. If you have sliding doors on your wardrobe, this won't be a problem then Oh dear, sorry to hear that. But I know what you mean. It'd come to a point when you're so tired of all the renos, you'd just make snap decisions just to complete the process! I know I'm approaching that mode now. Ha. Am sure the one you chose in the end would be fine so don't stress over it.
