  1. Happy New Year everyone so today i went up to the house and found that all my carpentry are now up and the glass and countertop guys are taking measurements Very thick table top, i am glad that they actually did listen to me as i mention to them there i will be putting both my PCs and alot of other stuff on the table and i do not want it to arch or bend due to the weight Le CO doesn't really like the door color and says that it really doesn't match the whole living room which was grey and white but i personally find it to be ok Gigantic wardrobe which suddenly makes the room seem small....... The secret wardrobe door And the kitchen
  2. and vinyl is finally completed so glad everything is coming together now and by the end of this week lights and other electrical will also go up woot woot Master bedroom Daughter's room My study room me inspecting loot from heritage which also arrive while i was delivering stuff i bought from TB and insani.
  3. Continue from previous post Daughter's bedroom - a little regret here as we were expecting a much darker contrast however when i went to look at it it looks like 1 color altho at closer inspection you can see there is a difference in color. But oh well its not that bad and we really didn't want to redo again scare mafan on a closer look Masterbedroom Decided not to post anything on toilet since nothing has changed and here are the loots from harvey norman safely tuck away in the bomb shelter and coincidentally the viny material was also delivered today
  4. Went up to the house today to take the first delivery from Harvey Norman (Hob / Hood / Oven / Microwave) since they are all built into the kitchen carpentry, and saw that tiling and painting are completed. Super excited that its countdown to moving in now . ID also informed me that carpentry should be ready by the end of the month and next monday they will start to install my bathroom accessories. here are some of the updated photos Living room Am really glad that both tiles for kitchen and living room blend in really well together(not cleaned yet so it looks very dirty) even tho the living room was from SBH and kitchen tiles were from Hafary. All of our tiles were from SBH except kitchen floor tiles as SBH doesn't have the non slip version for kitchen and in the end we manage to find one closest match to our living room in Hafary and thanks to our ID for allowing us to mix and match from different company another view of the living room from the windows side My study / home office Kitchen
  5. Finalise the carpentry and have the aircon from gain city do the first round of piping for the aircon everything is slowly but surely shaping up to our dream home and so far thanks to our ID we have yet to encounter any major problems even tho we only go down once per week. can't wait to go down this week to look at the completed painting Kitchen - Sink side Kitchen - Stove Side Master bedroom wardrobe TV console + feature wall Shoe cabinet
  6. Tiling of the living room has finally started hopefully everything gets done soon
  7. dropped you a pm. can’t say about my carpentry as my reno is ongoing and my carpentry probably is not going to arrive until end of the month when we finalise the compartment. I will update again once i get them install
  8. haha i’m not sure either but i’m getting my ID to remove them. i personally don’t really like grilles make the house look like a prison.
  9. actual pic of Taobao purchase. Philip downlights - white for living room and yellow for MBR MBR Vanity mirror with led lights Kitchen light Bedroom lights
  10. ceiling lights and downlights that i ordered thru my friend from taobao is also here, they are still sitting at my friend's house and packaging looks solid. Hopefully all of them are working as intended, i only bought spare downlights but only 1 kitchen light + 2 bedroom light
  11. Some progress photo from my ID, as the last 2 weeks was really hectic with black friday and all the shopping and i didn't manage to take any photos when discussing electrical points with the electrician on site. so happy to finally see the wall down after so long since the start of the reno. floors all gone overlaying of common bathroom in progress, wanted to hack and re laid the the tiles but after telling my ID that we are only planning to stay for 10 years my ID advised us not to as the price is much more expensive for bathroom and we decided to take it since he has not once steer us in the wrong directions yet
  12. Finally had time to update my thread, i am really lucky i guess to have a designer who was able to update me everyday on the progress even tho i did not have the time to go down. I only manage to go down together with my wife last sunday and was really pleased with the progress even tho we had alot of issues at the start of the renovation i.e.: issues with the bank regarding my reno loan and HDB requiring me to hire a PE to hack a non structural wall. Anyway we have receive the 3D from him and were very please with his design overall, hopefully everything turns out to be almost the same Study / Home office Living room Bathroom(both master and living will look the same hence only showing 1 of the 3d Master bedroom - ID propose the idea of hiding the our vanity item within the wardrobe with a hidden door beside the mirror for space saving and tidiness and we love it except that we request he use the same laminate for the door with the frame of the wardrobe Kitchen
  13. mine was not structural wall as well and HDB also got back to me that i will need to hire a PE. but my designer only charge 700 for the PE cost.
  14. Finally with the keys in my hand here are some pic of the empty house before commencement of the renovation
  15. After waiting close to 2 months here comes the ID selection. Le CO and me went thru 5 ID / Contractor and finally decided on 1 that meets our budget and timeline. 1. N******** - R*** G*** - this ID needs no introduction here, manage to get his contacts thru 1 of the thread here earlier and he was actually the first one to reply back to us and setup the meeting. first appointment with him was together with his assistant(i presume) Jimmy, we sat down together and he discussed with us room by room what i want and true enough whenever we say something that he doesn't like he will give that "are you sure?" look and tell us what he thinks and recommends. he was also able quote us on the spot based on our requirement and work with our budget. Really like talking to him however in the end the initial quote was still a little over. Decided to KIV while we meet with the others. 2. D***** S** - D**** I******* - dropped the company an email and he was the one who replied. made an appointment with him the very next day. Was quite fustrated with him initally as we realise they have another office in Paya Lebar after we meeting with him and he chose to set the location at the Jurong branch office. during the meeting he was going thru with us the different types of laminate and countertops and le CO felt that he was quite bold in his design and detailed in his presentation in the pros and cons of each, he was also able to suggest the color scheme to and how we can match the furniture we bought however based on what he has introduced we felt that his quotation was probably going to be over our budget by alot but le CO really like the way he presents hence we decided on the 2nd appointment with him initially. However on the day of the 2nd appointment(1 week later) which we were suppose to go thru the quotation he went mia then told us on the 2nd week to reschedule and on the rescheduled date he told us he was sick. In short we decided to drop him. 3. ****** - U**** D***** - made an appointment with her after dropping a message to the company website. In short le CO felt that she was too quiet and seems not very keen in doing our business hence we decided to drop her. 4. J&E - Drop a message but no reply probably too busy. 5. E**** T** - E** D***** S***** - Recommended by friend, initial appointment with him was over dinner and basically we were going thru our requirement and he was at there eating don't know he was listening or not was quite worried until he started asking question then we were like "oh ok he is listening". in the end after the dinner he was able to tell us feasibility of what we want and how we can save money. i feel that altho he looks ah beng and non chalant, he was still able to listen and eat means he knows what he is doing. Decided to make a 2nd appointment with him to go thru the quotation. In the end he was able to meet our budget and we decided to sign with him - will do a more detailed review once we complete the renovation.
  16. 2 months 20 days and counting... to keys collection Thanks to the people here on renotalk, i managed to buy the Grohe products i wanted from Insani24.de and the savings is (rough estimate based on what i bought i am saving around 2 to 3k) and i thought that this was going to take me about 2 months to ship here which is why i decided to buy early to give them more time to send it over, but in the end it arrives within 2 weeks. Wife and I check the goods once its arrive and all i can say is it really feels very solid although were larger then what we had expected So now all that is left is for the installation and pray that everything is working as intended (in any case spoke with APAC grohe office and they say as long as the model i bought is approved by PUB they will also cover the warranty even if its bought overseas)
  17. Continue from the previous post, 4. Samsung 65 inch TV + soundbar - Since OLED was not part of our consideration, the decision came down to either LG UHD or Samsung Qled and le CO felt that samsung was definitely the clear winner(she say she can see the pores when comparing it on normal TV channel) 5. Samsung 40 inch TV for my home office. - just a normal FHD TV as this will be setup in my home office and mainly will be streaming news. 6. Lastly something we brought over Prime day last month - Corelle 74 pc Diningware.
  18. Went to Harvey Norman this weekend and after comparing it to Gain City we decided to go with HN not because of price but simply because me and le CO felt that the sales person serving us in GC was a little pushy and we felt kinda pressured. so in the end this are the items we purchased from HN 1. Brandt Hob / Hood / Oven / Mirrowave - Le CO doesn't want anything made from China in her Kitchen and Bosch set made in Germany was way out of budget hence we settle for this 2ndly Brandt is currently offering complimentary in home demostration 2. Hitachi 2 door side by side fridge with ice and water dispenser 3. LG Twinwash with dryer function - Pricey but in the end we felt it was worth it as both me and CO prefer to have a dedicated washer for things like kitchen cloth
  19. A little excited and a little bored hence i decided to play around with www.floorplanner.com for space planning and have a better visualization of how our house would come out
