Can anyone tell me where I can find a square dining table that can accommodate 8-10 people? We saw 1 at Lorenzo and total cost with 4 chairs and 2 benches= $2400+. This is beyond our budget. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks

Feature Wall

Most ID's can design you a feature wall but if you want to make your wall look more interesting, you could offer them your design as well. Our ID built us a feature wall like one that I saw in a magazine. Must say that they did a nice job. -
We are presently renovating our C/T and like yourselves, we have decided not to do any A&A that would require BCA submission. We did our homework and found out that if BCA submission is required, we would need to engage 2 Qualified Persons, namely the architect and the structural Engineer to help draw plans for submission. That could easily set you back $10-$15K and this does not include fees to BCA and many other relevant bodies. Best to stick to A&A within the house. Once you know what you want, it is easier to get quotes so that you can objectively compare. I got quotes from 5 different companies (very time consuming!). Many companies are very vague in their quotes while others quoted really cheaply but on further probing, discovered that they only quoted for workmanship and not materials like tiles etc. We eventually engaged Mr LJS from ND&C for the job. This is my second time using this company and his quote, by far, is the most transparent and reasonable. We have blessed with a good working relationship with him and the work that he did on our present place still capture praises from visitors to our home.Mr Loo is passionate abt his work and has good ideas to offer. He sets high standards for his workers and has no qualms tearing down what they have just built if it does not meet his desired outcome. Cheers

I can recommend you my contractor. His company is called NC&D and his name is Mr LJS. He is now renovating my C/T house. I must say that I did not do major extensions that required BCA approval but I know that he has handled a lot of major A&As before. This is my second time using this company and I have enjoyed working with him. He has plenty of ideas and is very passionate about his work. Secondly, you may want to consider having a set of architect and structural engineers separate from the main contractor, as advised by my friends who have done major A&A (tearing down and rebuilding). The main reason is that the QPs are contracted by you for the job and not by the contractor hence, they will listen to you and try to meet your requirements and then the contractor will follow the QPs submitted and approved plans. I have a contact for an architect if you are interested.
