Hi, Just wondering if fellow JMers face the same problem. I request to transfer Starhub services to my new hse and the reply was as follows; "However, we wish to inform you that the estate at 26A Jalan Membina, although the units are provided with cable points, are not cable-ready yet. We will revert back to you on the status of cable signals availability once we have received feedback from the relevant department. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter. If you have any questions on our StarHub Digital Cable and MaxOnline services, please email to this address or fax in to 6725 1603." So that means no cable TV, no Internet at JM??? Anyone got any update when will JM be cable-ready????

Managed to get through to the HDB officer. I emailed to him all the pics and he offered to waive the hacking costs and will get the contractor to do the hacking ASAP. Within a day, all excess cement was hacked away and all debris cleared. No complaints and a big thanks to the HDB officer who handled the issue quickly. Informed my ID that the hacking was done, he quickly scheduled for my tiling works. More pics to come on the completed wet works. Reno is underway again after the screed incident... PHEW!

Had my 1st dissapointment.... Some communication error between HDB and the cement screed contractor. Initially when I applied for the cement screed, I wrongly selected to cement screed for all the rooms. When I realised it, I informed the HDB officer through email that it was a mistake and he replied that its ok and he had amended my application at that time the works not done yet. Luckily got black and white. Apparently, today my ID wanted to start with the tiling works, DISASTER! Pls see below... Apparently, they abandon the screeding for the living rrom halfway and wanted to cover up or something... No idea what they wanted to do. Look like they are just throwing cement waste in my living room! My ID say need to hack... he called up the HDB contactor and the HDB contractor wants to charge me $200 for HDB and the contractor mistake! Tried to contact the HDB officer the whole day but never pick up phone... SIANZZZZ....

Hi Keropi, I got the 16L one. The 16K one costs $782 and the 10L one abt $300 or $400. I think coz the 10L one is battery ignition. No charges for the tech staff to do the on site eval. Just call city gas to arrange for appointment. They will just drop by. As you know, for Jln Membina there only one place to place the gas heater i.e. between the common toilet and the kitchen window. I dun know abt the other heaters but for the 16L, Citygas need to install a 'Flue' (some sort of a ventilation tube out your kitchen window'. So it will be from the top of your heater and goes out of the top glass panel of your kitchen window and after installation, that top panel of your kitchen window cannot close liao. Ask more to the tech staff when they come down to your place... By the way, Love your switches... where did you get them? Can you tell me the address of the shop? PM me if not convinient. Thank you...

Hi Keropi, Wahh I can only wipe my dripping saliva looking at your reno btw, are you waiting for the 8 litres gas heater from city gas in May? If you want to, you can actually get the 10 or 16 litres one... As usual City Gas will be very reluctant to sell you the 10 litre and 16 litre one. No idea why but they always say" this one not for HDB". But after some deliberation, they ask me to make an appointment with their technical staff to evaluate whether I can use the bigger capacity ones (i.e. the 10 or 16 litres one). After the technical staff came, they told me that I can go up to 16 litres... and I went down to visit City Gas again and purchase the 16 litres gas heater. I just told tham that their technical staff already give me their green light. So no problems there. For your info, my flat is a 3 room unit at 26A. Cheers!

Thanks Crazycar and Jasch for the compliments. I do hope it turns out well.... Yup, its my wife who picks the laminates. We used the same laminate for both the bomb shelter and shoe cabinet. There is actually an error in the 3D, the shoe cabinet and the bomb shelter should be the same, i.e. the white strip is actually a mirror strip with white laminates at both ends. Btw, Jasch, are you from Jln Membina? I just realise also that the coffeeshop nearer to 26D is using the same laminates for their feature wall too... HAHAHA Will post more pics when the work progresses... Thanks

Hi babytan, I find the Darwin is not too bad. The ID that we are dealing with so far is quite good. Besides of giving us one of the best quote, his services are quite professional. SMS and call him sometimes after/before office hours, he also will entertain. Darwin has this 5 year warranty on worksmanship (excludes glass fixtures) which I find not bad oso. (But not sure how the after sales service is like). Well, with a small space, we can't do so much fancy stuff and on top of that, slashed a few things here and there due to budget. So far managed to keep within budget and more or less get what we want. During initial stage, Darwin was the first few who provide us with a full quote in less than a week. If you want I will PM you my ID contact.

Went up to Jln Membina today, saw piles of sand and cement at my bedrooms. HDB is going to do the screeding already? Wow, thats quite fast. Thanks CrazyCar for the tip. Apparently, I got the contractor's number from the Tech Officer on yesterday morning and they are already doing it today... Wow thats fast. Do u guys clear the rubbish before the screeding is done? (Pamplets, pieces of paper on the floor) Will it affect anything...??

Hmmm... never thought of that before... Thanks will talk to my ID abt this....

Hi babyTan Thanks. Yup me too have initial problems to come out with design. I think you need to play arnd with lots of mirrors. Thats why my wardrobe have full length mirrors... haha... but my ID say some ppl dun like due to some beliefs.... not too sure abt that... hi h4happy, Thanks. Hope the reno will turn out ok.

Hi All, So sorry for not updating for sometime... Finally engaged an ID from Darwin Interiors. Defect check done and cement screeding request has been submitted at HDB Bukit Merah Branch. Currently works have been ongoing in my new house, last checked today... wiring has been done up and the L-boxes are up too. One problem, no sign of the cement screeding is going to be done. Anyone care to share how to push the HDB ppl to do the screeding? I called the HDB technical officer in charge (apparently a guy from china), he always replied,"One Month... many many work".... dun realli understand what he really means. Anyone care to share on how to get the HDB cement screeding done? Will post more pics soon.... Stay tuned...
