Search For Dream Home Turns Into Nightmare
yokine9a replied to MaCe's topic in Men Women Kopitiam Corner!
Cannot say this, a company's chairman like brother MaCe also says $$ not enough Anyway, that director is probably not as poor as we thought initially, since he owns a company and also collects office rent from tenants. -
U are welcome Aiyoh, your promise didn't come true leh, still no pix of your house yet Must post us some updated pix of your house when you have time hah

Resale Flat Buyers, Do U Remove Your Window Grilles?
yokine9a replied to yokine9a's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
GOOD LUCK to you -
This price is quite ok, though I found a shop in TPY who quoted me lowest at $5.50 psf for see thru type. Blackout type should be around $7.50psf if I remember correctly. I have not installed my roller blinds, so can't recommend this shop to others unless you want to give it a try. Just let me know

Yeah, agree with the rest, this is almost mission impossible I never try to bargain with Patrick on his quote, but I can feel that he won't give even if I ask. You may still try asking him, but very likely he won't reduce by 1K. For those IDs who give good discount, don't them need to make a profit from your project? If their discount is so huge, won't it mean that they have already prepared to give discounts when clients ask? Which means, they have already marked up your reno cost by certain % Beware of those IDs who give too good discount, there might be hidden cost along the road after you signed the paper. -
Hi wiredchaos, great to hear from you My reno already completed liao...Have moved in for a month now...Time really flies...Initially wanted to start a reno blog but very lazy lah...Maybe wait till my broadband at home is up... Planning to install roller blinds for my house soon Yah, the utility room is useful...Can treat it as a store room cum laundry area. Aiyoh, don't wait till your reno finish lah, quickly start a blog and put up pix for us to see...Easy to chit chat mah

Choco has not been updating her blog for several weeks liao, don't know what happened Yes, her unit is near to Braddell MRT. She ever told me the price she paid for her flat, but not nice to share with you lah. But I can tell you the price I paid for my 3-room unit, just pm me. If you are looking at resale flats in TPY, I can tell you it is not going to be cheap now. I tot I paid a high price when I bought mine in Feb this year. But when I was browsing thru the resale transactions on HDB website for TPY 3-room flats, just to see if I bought at the property peak, I saw a corner unit facing HDB hub sold for $330 in May Imagine 3-room flats in TPY were all below $200k 4 yrs ago. I believe all 3-room flats in TPY are upgraded. Those not upgraded are either in Potong Pasir zone or selected for ENBLOC liao. If you need more info, can pm me. Paiseh to make use of choco's blog to talk abt something not relevant to her flat

Resale Flat Buyers, Do U Remove Your Window Grilles?
yokine9a replied to yokine9a's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Thanks everyone, for all the advices and comments Actually my windows grilles are still in pretty ok condition, though I have 2 sets of windows+grilles in my house...One set in brown color while the other in silver...Don't understand why the previous owner wants to do thing this way Due to my tight reno budget, I chose to close one eye Looks like I should just leave the grilles there and proceed to do my roller blinds now. PS. Hi kunning, how is life going? Have you started your reno? Using Ho Bee? -
Thanks for the great info Very useful since I am planning to have roller blinds in my house. Did a research on recommended makers. The HM Decor shop name mentioned in your article has a showroom in TPY, where I am living. Dropped by their shop few days ago to ask for quote. For the design I like, the cheapest choice is $5.50psf. There were 2 other curtains shops nearby, so I hopped over for quotes too. But they were not cheap. One of them said roller blinds starts from $6.90psf. Another one was worst, at least $10psf Has anyone tried MGL? Save this name when reading curtains recommendations from other forumers.

Wah, 6K combined income buying 600K flat!! Expensive houses like those in Boon Keng are not really meant for first owner who has no current flat to offset the diff. Silly decision... Truly speaking, they are not alone... I have a colleague, not sure abt his combined income with the wife, currently living in a 4-room flat, planning to upgrade themselves to private condo liao. All these people think that buying a house is an investment, can sell good price later... -
Hi all, for those who bought a resale flat, if you have no kids or if you are single, did you remove or plan to remove the existing window grilles? Any pros and cons by doing that? I am thinking if it is good to remove those grilles to make my house brighter and more airy. I am staying in a corner unit, no windows facing the corridor. I am worried if I regret later, I need to pay another sum of money to put them back TIA

Can I add something to qtn 1? The switches in my contractor's quotation are those plain and simple switches used by HDB in the old days. I wanted some better-looking ones, so I told him I wanted those rocker switches. He said that would be extra charge as he could only afford cheaper ones in his quote. He went to Choo Chiang and bought what I wanted. He passed me the invoice from Choo Chiang and I just needed to pay him for those switches. Some IDs do mark up a bit if you want them to buy other switches not listed in his quote since he needs to spend time and petrol to do the buying work or go thru his supplier for the stock. The truth is, if you go thru a middleman, you always have to pay more for the same piece of item. Hence, some owners here take the trouble to run around Jalan Besar and buy stuff that they need for their flat, without going thru their IDs/contractors.

Spam chop What a big house!! Actually do you still need an ID to do space planning? You probably don't need one cos your condo is sooo big

Don't mention Small qtn I can help to answer, big qtn got to consult master MaCe liao

Sunday -> tongdu, 3 days later is Wed correct mah. You must open door before you tongdu rite? So, no need to choose a best time to open door again and clean the house. RESIDENTS in your brand new not renovated house are referring to those not human people lah. Fengshui believes that during sometime somehow someone already have lived in that house liao. If you don't believe all this, then no need to follow the procedure loh. I myself did not choose a good time to open door
-
Try Hoe Kee. China made ones $300+? Too expensive... My wc was made in Taiwan, < $200.

Before open door, cannot drop by to look look see see
