Park Central @amk
yokine9a replied to tweetie76's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
But why did so many people visit the showflat in AMK? They went to gather ideas on how a condo-like HDB flat will look like? Or just went there to join the crowd? Just like the Boon Keng project, showflat was crowded with packs of people but not that many people balloted to buy it. -
Yo, apple jie jie, what were you trying to test? To see if your glass window is real tempered glass? I thought a round heavy ball going at full force can smash tempered glass too, not just sharp object? Saw many such scene at movies leh.

Sorry, one silly qtn, by creating sections of cement screed on the floor, balls drop from the pool table will not make holes on the floor?

When Do You Pay Your Housing Agent?
yokine9a replied to gunpowder's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
Yes, pay only after everything is completed, else, you will run into risk of cannot find your agent after payment is made. I received their bill after first appt, but I simply ignored it. My agent said people usually pay during the 2nd appt. Eventually, I only paid him 1 month after the 2nd appt cos I was busy starting the reno work -
15k For My 3ng Reno
yokine9a replied to dom07's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Aiyoh, you are not poor at all lah, can budget 1.5k for your dinning table some more. My dinning set was $200 from IKEA. My bf was sooo happy when I agreed to buy it. He feels that, wah so cheap for a solid wooden dinning set -
Plus only hor, no minus In fact you should ask the installer to give you the breakdown so that you will know how many more sq ft he quotes you. Some installers add extra unnecessary coverage space of the blinds in order to earn more from you Yes, basically the formula is correct.

15k For My 3ng Reno
yokine9a replied to dom07's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Not yet leh, me very unproductive hor. You need to train your arms liao. Try holding the steamer head, raise your arm up & down for 50 times each day. Guarantee you will be as strong as Popeye The Sailor Man OK, back to serious, I learnt from somewhere that a pair of plastic tongs is useful to hold on to your clothing while steaming, so that you can stand a bit further away & the steam will not kana your face/arm. Try it & let me know if this helps -
15k For My 3ng Reno
yokine9a replied to dom07's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Are you planning to relocate your sink? If yes, then very likely underneath piping, floor tiles, wall tiles will be affected. If you just want to get rid of the current sink support & do something else at the same location, then probably just need to replace some broken wall/floor tiles. Yes, everything is $$. Like what babytan says, just do within your budget, don't need to care whether nice or not liao. All nice stuff need $$ to build -
Yes, it was the cement screed done by HDB. The first owner did not do anything to it. After years of wear & tear, it has cracks and holes here & there. When I bought over it, I decided to go for laminated flooring. So, cement screeded walls with no paints at all? That's cool. I didn't touch my bedroom's walls & floors due to budget constraint. The next time, I think I will try cement screeded walls & floors too. Heehee, hope my bf will sing the same song as me Yes, ventilation is very important for bathroom. I am lucky cos the small windows of my toilet & bathroom are both facing the east, every morning, sunlight will shine in thru the windows & dry up as much moisture as possible.

15k For My 3ng Reno

What abt electrical wiring? $15K is really not enough. I hope you are not touching the 2 toilet's walls, else it will be even more. I didn't touch my living room, toilet, bathroom flooring, already 10K liao. I only hacked kitchen floor, overlay bedrooms floor with laminated flooring. Mine is a 3I. -
No, it is not going to be so simple. You need to add allowance to all edges cos the blinds should be slightly bigger than your windows size.

Try Hong Ming. They have a shop @ TPY. The last time I went to their shop to view roller blinds samples, they have PVC material.
-
Can also try 3M S/S Cleaner. Available in all home-fix stores. It cleans & coats a layer of protection film on the rack. I used it on all my S/S items. A great tip from bro MaCe

I am using granite top, no regrets too. I believe for long term, granite is equally great

Any movers to recommend?
yokine9a replied to koras's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Sad to hear abt your unhappy experience in using Movers_101. I used them for my last move & was happy with them, hence, I recommended them to other forumers here. Albert was driving the van for my house moving. After the move, I paid by cash to Albert. No invoice & no receipt took place. For a small biz like theirs, issuing invoice or receipt will incur extra cost to them. I personally don't see the need to collect invoice or receipt from them, might probably throw them away after the moving was completed. This is different from buying an item from a shop ie. IKEA whereby I need to keep the receipt for warranty claim in future. We should go green as much as we can. Just my opinion, you might think differently. -
Maybe this guy installed 5W energy saving bulb for each downlight leh Anyway, I have 2 light points in my living room & 2 in my kitchen. All are 23W energy saving bulbs. At any one time, I only switch on 1 bulb. It is more than enough to bright up most area in the room & for me to read newspaper under it. I have long living room & kitchen. The next time these bulbs burn off, I might even downgrade to 20W only.

I was quoted $4.30psf during the exhibition in Feb from Supreme AC5. Didn't expect it to increase so much within couple of months. You should bargain further. Yes, more established company like Supreme, Kronotex etc will use their own workers to do the laying work.
-
The installer will not bother too much abt cleaniness, being the owner, it is your concern. There will be an extra cost incurred for the cardboard. It is not bundled in the reno package unless you ask & pay for it. However, there will bound to have dust underneath the cardboard during reno, you still need to mop the floor before installing laminates.

It all depends what is important to you. For eg. response time is important if you are using your TV to play games. Some people die die want to go for 6 ms of response time, but to me, 8 ms is acceptable cos my naked eyes can't see the difference. Some are contented with HD ready but some only want full HD. As for contrast ratio, of course the higher the better, but more expensive lah.
-
What is TV ratio in the first place?

What To Use To Clean Joints Between Homogeneous Tiles?
yokine9a replied to newhouse's topic in Home Maintenance & Repairs
Any bleach solution will do. Spray some on the grout lines, leave them for 5-10 mins, then wipe off with wet towel. -
Cool, thanks for the address Aiyoh, at least your husband tried on 1 shirt, my bf doesn't even want to learn ironing work
-
My Toshiba LCD TV is ok leh, it takes abt 1-2 secs to start up, find it reasonable. As for the indicator, on standby, it is red color, when switch on, it is green color.
-
No lah, house manager lah Actually hor, how to be a professional slacker & at the same time still got increments ah?
-
Thanks babytan, don't worry abt the shop address, I can google it $320 is really attractive, so tempting to buy. Wah, your husband so good, does his ironing work himself. I think if my bf will start to do that, the sun will rise from the west liao
