  1. My 3-room flat is 3I, only one toilet/bathroom. If I want to revamp the toilet, no way I can do it while living in the house. Whilst yours is a 3NG with MBR's toilet, possible to do reno work in one toilet at a time. But your girl has sensitive nose & skin, it might not be a good idea for her to stay in the house while it is undergoing reno work.
  2. Didn't know abt this. Till now, I still thought that we should not reuse plastic water bottles. So brother, all these are fake infor & those plastic bottles will not discharge harmful toxic if we reuse them?
  3. What do you plan to do to your current flat?
  4. For my case, 2K : 2 weeks after they started work 3K : mid of reno 6K : upon completion & made sure everything was in order My reno work was a simple one, not those $50K project
  5. Trying to market their companies? So that the next time you want to sell your flat or someone you know wish to sell their flats can ring up these companies?? I have been receiving plenty of such leaflets in my mailbox every week since I moved into my flat 4 mths ago. Waste papers, kill so many trees
  6. I bought a 3-room flat in TPY. Don't intend to sell it within the next 10 yrs. I think you can still get a bank loan if you are buying now. But be prepared to live in that unit for many years, until it is selected for en-bloc For old flats with upgraded work done, I do not expect them to last another 30 more yrs, cos structural wise, they are very old liao. Hopefully, HDB will tear them down within 20 yrs' time.
  7. Go to the T-blog in this forum. Plenty of nice pic & great info there. By following thru how others do their reno, you will have an idea how to go about doing yours.
  8. I bought my resale flat as the 2nd owner. It is > 35 yrs old liao. All the 3-room flat in TPY are > 35 yrs old but sales are still going strong The only thing you need to worry is when you want to sell the flat. Banks are not willing to grand loan if the flat has < 60 yrs lease, so a potential buyer of your flat can only get loan from HDB. You might have smaller bargaining power then.
  9. Which one do you want to know? Wood/parquet or laminated? They are different. For laminated flooring, just use very dry mop with plain water is good enough. But I am a bit kiasu, I use Sofix once a month to make my floor feels smoother.
  10. This one I can't comment cos I have no master bedroom toilet I reckon making a kerb outside the toilet will help. Also, a mat with rubber layer at the bottom is better, so that water will not sip thru & go into the laminated flooring. Just my common sense thinking
  11. In a way, what bro MaCe says is true. If we clear our food trays, then those anties & ancles will be out of job liao. These unties ancles used to be the one standing at the counters/stalls selling food, but cheaper China Chinese workers took their jobs away, so what is left for them is cleaner's job only
  12. 1) Look up on weekend newspaper for the next home & ID exhibition @ Expo, visit the company booth for their demo & price quotation. Alternatively, you can look up on yellow pages/websites for these companies email address or contact #. The last time I went to Supreme's website & wrote to their sales dept via "Contact Us" page, a guy rang me the following week. Approach the laminated flooring company is cheaper than going thru ID. 2) Yes, cos you can't bargain much. Also, do you think the whole house will look nice when only your room has laminated flooring & not the rest? You should consider doing up your parents' room as well. 3) The last time I did my 2 bedrooms, I was charged $4.30psf, which is around $1.5K. 4) Of course you can mop the floor, but do it a few days later, after the silicon gel has settled down. Your mop should not be too wet when mopping the floor.
  13. Yes, make it a habit. In fact, I even close the windows of my kitchen, utility room & living room when I go out though laminated flooring is only installed in the bedrooms.
  14. Yes, MaCe's ID is Ho Bee Terrazzo is a cheaper option compare to marble. It is another type of stone. In the old days, granite was not common & marble was very expensive. Only rich people can afford marble.
  15. As for the cry baby, he won't earn respect from me. No coach? Nevermind, get yourself a good medal, I am sure STTA will give you 2 coaches after Olympics
  16. That is just a nice-looking picture painted by the gov lah. They will probably step in to start controlling the hdb prices only when too many people (who cannot afford a hdb flat) are sleeping on the roadside
  17. Your "a lot of people" is like 50, 100 people walk past? If these people are wearing shoes with sands/dirt underneath, than even homo tiles will have scratches in the long run. At first I thought laminated flooring is like parquet flooring, will scratch & tear easily. But after a while, I find it to be quite scratch-resistant. My bedrooms are using laminated flooring. I didn't touch my 35-yr-old living room flooring (terrazzo) except a polish work.
  18. Someone said the bigger the piece of tile, the more expensive it is to lay. So, expect higher cost for bigger tiles. Actually, you can also consider just hack the old tiles away & do cement screeding floor. Or maybe cheaper brands of laminated flooring.
  19. Even though the inflation rate is in record high, there are still so many people chiong for the expensive condo-style HDB flats. So, Singaporeans must be getting richer liao, or they are very desperate to get a flat
  20. It is over. Was held last weekend only, 23-24/8.
  21. I have already seen the effect now. I was away from S'pore for 3 yrs & when I came back end last yr, I was so surprised that I was surrounded by so many China Chinese. 3 yrs ago, very rare would I get to see an angmoh walking on the street in TPY. But now? I have seen a handful of them almost every week. I cannot imagine how S'pore will look like 5 yrs down the road
  22. Hi brother, your fan is nice & cheap, can share the contact where you got very good pricing?
  23. Anyone is following closely on the news abt TT Assoc President Lee Bee Wah? Initially, she told the press she was sacking the TT team manager & the coach might have to leave too. Now it seems that she denies everything she says previously
  24. Strictly speaking, 10 yrs old flat need not do rewiring. However, if you plan to stay there for at least another 10-20 yrs & do not want to go thru the hassle of doing rewire work (it means dusty, messy, shifting, no electricity etc) couple of yrs down the road, then you can consider doing it now.
