Sharing a bad experience encountered by my friend recently with a vendor that does awnings/sunscreen. Please always double/triple check the sources before committing... Anyway, here's the whole episode summary: - Found this awning/outdoor sunscreen vendor from internet website. - Paid deposit of $700 on 8Aug09 but told vendor I will let them know my requirements only after discussion with family members. - 1 week later, I asked vendor if they have colour (P10 Granite) and also asked them to show me the J-hook they talked about first before I can decide whether to proceed with order or not. Vendor replied they do not have colour (P10 Granite) in stock. I did not give vendor any alternative colour as the other colours were not my choice. Hence, no work was performed and deal was stuck from 8Aug09 till 12Sep09 for more than 1 month. - On 12Sep09, I decided to made my way to vendor's factory at Sungei Kadut Drive to look at the materials, mechanisms etc. that this vendor says they can supply and to sort out the stuck deal but I realised they still do not have the colour (P10 Granite) I wanted and the mechanism they provide is not suitable for condo. The mechanism they provide is meant for industrial/commercial use. - Since there is no way we can proceed with deal as my requirements cannot be met, I request for refund of full value of deposit immediately on the same day. Victor (Mobile: 90052212) said he will get back to me on 14Sep09. - Victor called me on 14Sep09 and ask me to pay him transport fee before he will refund full value of deposit. I asked him how much. He asked me to quote. I said I need to check and discuss with my family members. - On 15Sep09, I called Victor and told him after checking around, market price for transport fee is about $20 and I will pay him market price of $20 for transport and he should refund the full value of deposit to me as agreed. He insists that I pay him more for transport but is unable able to tell me how much he wanted and then he said his boss is out of town and will return 1 week later, hence, he is not able to discuss the refund matter with his boss. - I realised I have been cheated by Victor and that he is simply deploying delay tactic and refuses to refund me the full value of the deposit given that there is no way this deal can proceed since the vendor cannot deliver the requirements I needed. - I am now writing to CASE to seek redress and refund of full value of deposit and also to lodge a complaint about this vendor so that future consumers beware of such unethical vendor. Anyone have any other advice to seek redress?

Consumer Beware: Unethical vendor-Perfect Deco Pte Ltd Sharing a bad experience that my friend encountered recently with a vendor that does awnings/sunscreen. The name is Perfect Deco, located at Sungai Kadut. Lesson learned: Always double/triple check the sources reliability and ethics with feedback forums/friends recommendations before committing... Anyway, here's her summary of the whole episode: - Found this awning/outdoor sunscreen vendor from internet website. This time, instead, he changed his story yet again. He claimed he had already purchased and cut the materials to make the metal rod and I would have to pay for the cost, which amounted to $300!! So, from paying for transport cost, he change the story to material cost. When I responded, that I need to see the work done and take delivery of the metal rods before I agree to this new demand, he raised his voice and try to change his story again!! Will explore the Small Claims Tribunal route.

Planter Box
redfirst replied to bbin's topic in Landed & Condo Private Properties Renovation Discussion
Possible to make a recommendation for the contractor for your timber decking if you feel that they've done an excellent job with your place? I am looking for a reliable one that provides good workmanship with reasonable pricing. Got any contacts to share please? My unit has 2 planters and am thinking of decking them out with chengai wood. Thanks heaps! -
Any Good Recommendation For Lightings Outlets
redfirst replied to meridan's topic in Home Furnishings
My experience with lighting shops: Eurostar at Balestier: - GOOD. I got a Swarovski crystal chandelier from them at a great price. But the clincher was Danny's service and patience in addressing all our questions when we first made enquiries. No hassle, no rush, always accomodating. Made some useful suggestions and recommendations to us. We only made the purchase after 3-4 visits to Eurostar. Lights were delivered on time and in good condition. I-Lite at Jalan Besar: - GOOD. Got good customer service from Gary and similarly he was kind enough to walk through with us the full range of lights we were looking for and helped us map out the lighting plan of our place based on our floor plan. Eventually bought all our PLC downlights and Halogens from him after 3 visits to his shop. Lights N Lights at Balestier: - BAD. This was a major disappointment. Had a bad transaction with them ending in having to cancel the purchase due to what we felt was unsavoury business practice by them. So, I would not be recommending this retailer to anyone any time soon. Sales tactic they use is to promise you the lights and make you settle payment first, but after a day or two they call up to say they don't have the stock (for the next 1.5-2 months!) and try to persuade you to switch to a different type of light. If you cancel the entire order you will have to absorb any NETS transaction costs as well. They charged 4% of the NETS fee as well, which I found out later to be way over the actual rate of 1-2% ...Sigh. Buyer Beware... -
Recommendation For Refrigerator
redfirst replied to sunshines11's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Hi sportster, Yeah, I ended up with the Panasonic NR-B402V. I think my delivery was the last shipment of the lot. Just got it last weekend! So, the next shipments should be the B403V model. Got mine from *spam. So far so good. Enough internal space and functions that meets my requirements. Also it fits into my kitchen area nicely. Did a quick recalculation from the NEA website based on the latest Power Tariffs of 1Kwh / $23.88 and I'm looking at an estimated energy cost of $148 yearly. Using the same tariffs, the 403V comes up at $142. Well, at some point one has to make a decision. I am happy with mine so far. Anyway, its early days so I hope i'll get some good mileage outta this unit that I bought. Good luck with your purchase! !! -
For what its worth, after considering aspects of price, brand, reliability and energy consumption I ended up with the Electrolux EWW1292. Hope I'll get good mileage for it for years to come!

I just did a ring around to the usual suspects e.g. Goh Ah Bee, Hong Liang, Gain City etc to compare quotes. You can find their contacts on the forum. Alternatively, check out this site for some of the distributors: http://www.nccc.gov.sg/energylabel/electrolux.shtm If you have the Brand & Model number of the electrical appliance u r looking for just let them know and ask them to quote. good luck!

Thanks for the info bro! I spoke to a HN salesperson yesterday to try to get more info as well. According to him, the EWW1292 is fully made in Italy not Thailand (who to believe??). This kinda affirms the quality and reliability of the model apparently. Also the energy and water consumption of the Electrolux is more efficient than the LG TROMM WD14331AD. So, if I were to consider long term usage then obviously the Electrolux would be the way to go. The Direct Drive technology for LG on the other hand has the advantage of 'belt-less' drum and supposedly very quiet. Not long in the market though so nothing proven in terms of reliability and quality. However, price-wise it's definitely more attractive to my budget. A former technician I spoke to had said that LG's quality standards have improved while Electrolux's (ever since they shifted manufacturing to Thailand) have seen higher failure rates. That being said, this ain't a consideration for me since the one I'm considering is Italian made. BTW, managed to get quotes from some distributors that carry the Electrolux at $1340 and the LG TROMM at $960.
