  1. Hi Tingshen Do u have photos of your home to share? I'm sure it must be lovely! For the same reasons u have mentioned above, we decided to buy a TV console instead of mounting it on the wall. At least dun need to headache thinking of how to install feature walls etc to hide the wires.
  2. Country signages in the kitchen. More kitchen decor. Still lots for room for more! Really hoped I can get my kitchen fully decorated soon but it will take time, cos buying decor items always burn big holes in my pocket! Some decor on my display cabinet in the living room.
  3. Our LG refrigerator was delivered last week. We had our sink tap installed and plumbing done last week. The plumber is none other than my dear hubby. Some country decor at the sink area.
  4. Any ladies going for THUM? Always wanna join in but worried later all guys, very paiseh.
  5. What other items did you buy from them? I'm also eyeing another wardrobe for my kids' bedroom and a writing desk for the MBR. Maybe gonna pay them a visit again soon. But I think $200 for 2 drawers quite ex leh, u shd have tried to bargain with them. My set only includes 1 bedside table, u mean yours got 2 tables? Can u remember if they sell any buffet hutch? If your kitchen tiles are the smooth kind, then I think any kind of hooks should be able to stick. But problem is, those hooks we see outside all very ugly leh. If we wanna get the more antique looking ones, usually need to drill holes. Sigh....
  6. I was actually eyeing on another bedroom set which has carvings of tulips but it costs $200 extra. Since I was on a tight budget, I chose this set instead. How much is your bedroom set and did they charge u extra for those enhancements? hehe yah, those are the heart-shaped shelves which I bought. Find them very cheap...only $30! Now I'm stucked with too many shelving & display units with nothing much to display. Will gradually fill them up over the next few months, cos can't possibly buy everything at one go. If u want to decorate your kitchen but can't drill, maybe u can consider hanging signages or frames on the walls? Can buy hooks to stick on the wall.
  7. Think u big tiles shop you are referring to is Soon Bee Huat. It's at Toh Guan Road, very near to IMM. They really have a HUGE selection of tiles, I bought my floor tiles from them too. Most likely will be going there after work today, hopefully can find what I'm looking for. The only way to create more space for the kitchen is to install some wall shelves, if u still have available wall space! hehe For this reason, if u refer to my kitchen cabinet design, I have asked my carpenter to include some open shelves, so can use to display my items. Then again, really waste of storage space. But no choice lah, for asthetic reasons.
  8. Hiyo, dun stress me lah. Till now, still no time to go buy the tiles. Where did u buy yours and can u remember how much it costs? Hehe, yah that rugged chooks window I bought from ebay, abt S$30 I think. After installing the tap, got no place to put leh. Cos if I put too close to the sink, it will get wet and "rot" over time. No more space at the kitchen top too. My HB dun allow me to drill holes cos he said the whole house full of holes now cos of all those decor items I bought.
  9. Hehe yah, bought it from Spotlight. They have quite a nice range of shabby chic bedding, minus the exorbitant prices of Laura Ashley or Rachel Ashwell. Think they are having a 30% discount for that provincial range now. But the thing is, their bedding sets all don't come with bolster covers leh. So for my bolsters, gotta end up buying plain covers, if not can't match the bedding. I'm keeping my bedroom theme to white and blue, so constantly looking for blue-coloured items to decorate the room.
  10. I'm not from RC, I'm from WEC. According to the regulations, we can only join RC of the constituency we reside in. However for sub-comms like WEC, YEC etc, they don't place a restriction. Need to check too if there's a WEC in Queenstown and how the committee is. As I've been with my comm for abt 7 years, worst is to switch to another one and realise that u can't work together with the people there. Actually, my chairman is quite worried I might leave, kept asking me to stay put, cos my comm has a problem trying to recruit new members over the past few yrs. But I do understand where you are coming from. There's always a possibility that I might get less involved with my comm cos of the mentality that I need to travel.
  11. Our bedroom set from Country Style Furniture at IFC was delivered 2 weeks ago. Still wondering where to put up this hydrangea oil painting in the room. Will most likely frame it up and hang up on the wall where my bed is. My room is still very bare and empty, will be adding on a bedside table lamp and other decor items gradually over the next two mths.
  12. Hehe warsurfer, I also custom made some kitchen signs similar to yours from a UK ebay seller. Probably we got it from the same person . Will take some pics when I'm free and post them up here.
  13. Not just for Queenstown, in fact for many GRCs in Singapore, there's always this space constraint problem while holding major events like NDP dinner. How many tables were there last nite? When I was still staying in Radin Mas area, we also held our NDP dinner every year (without fail!) at the public carpark at Blangah Rise, cos that's the only place that can accomodate 100+ tables. Still considering if I shd switch my grassroots membership to Queenstown. If I do, then next year can join u guys here liao. Anyway, hoped u enjoyed the event last nite and the food was to your liking! Every year, always got residents complain abt the food, say didn't serve in time etc. Really pity those waitresses, so many tables to serve.
  14. Think I went down sometime in June. Most of the white furniture were gone too, left only a few pieces. How much did u pay for the chest of drawers? I'm also planning to buy 2 sets for my bedrooms. Saw 1 at Ikea which costs $300+. For white furniture, perhaps can try country furniture at IFC too, u can choose from a few wood colours. The shop custom make furniture, so u can request to have a bigger or smaller size to fit your home. Sometime last year, I saw a white buffet hutch at Ikea, think selling about $700+. But think sold out liao, cos I can't find it anymore. I also saw one for sale at $1.5k at Forest Woodworking a few mths back, but it's kind of too huge, not suitable for my home.
  15. I went down to the country furniture wholesale a few months ago. They didn't have a lot of French country furniture, all mostly teak and rattan furniture. Probably because they are sold out already, as I heard that the company brings in new shipment every few months. But must say the prices they offer are quite reasonable compared to many country furniture shops. But one thing to note, that place is very small and stuffy. Nearly died of suffocation...hehe...
  16. Looks like your reno is progressing very well! Love the mosaic tiles in your MBR toilet. Are you gonna custom make your big big mirror? What kind of lightings did you buy? Like u, I also spent abt $2k on lightings alone, bought them from both S'pore & USA.
  17. It's nice of your ID to conceal your electrical points. I don't intend to have too many electrical appliances lying around, maybe just the rice cooker and hot flask. Cos having too many appliances seen makes the kitchen look too modern, hence diminishing the country-appeal. I brought along my microwave oven but still thinking if I shd display it. Cos my kitchen cabinet is extremely small. After putting in the sink and hob, not much solid surface area left. If I put in my microwave, then no space for my rice cooker liao. I'm considering buying a portable table (saw some nice ones at Ikea!) to put at the corner opp my cabinets to place stuff like cutlery, cups etc. What I REALLY wanted is a buffet hutch for my dining area (like the photo I attached below), so I can display all my treasured chinaware and store things like cutlery etc. Haven't seen anything that I like in S'pore though, either the colour doesn't match or it's too huge. Saw a hutch at Unik Furniture at IFC selling at a promo price of $200+, dark walnut colour. Quite tempted to buy it, although I would prefer a white-coloured one, as I have too many dark wooden furniture in my living room.
  18. Thanks so much! I didn't renovate the toilet at all, it's in its original state as what HDB had provided. Just relying on some fittings and decor items to beautify it. A major overhaul for the toilet is not cheap. Maybe 5 yrs later when I have enough budget.
  19. Sigh, my canopy takes up the entire wall, hence a waste of storage space and nowhere to conceal the wire for my hood, unless I ask the electrician to relocate the point. But that's really troublesome. Guess gotta put up with it for now.
  20. Congrats! I'm your neighbour from Blk 91. Can't wait to see how your renovated flat looks like. Post more pics!
  21. Great DIY job! Totally impressed! Welcome to the DIY club! Like you, we also DIY most of our stuff. Gotta admit that although it's a tedious process, you get loads of satisfaction at the end of the day, as whatever you do, you know it's your own blood and sweat. Maybe if you are able to persuade your dad, you can consider changing the doors for your TV cabinet? Tell him you will maintain the look, but change to a "more unique" colour. Like u, we also have a Miniature Pinscher. She's black in colour and about 8 years now. We always call her "lao char bo". Hehe...
  22. These are wallies I purchased from US to beautify our otherwise boring wall tiles. I'm not quite done with the toilet decor, will add in more items and shelving units over the next few months.
  23. A sneak preview of my MBR bathroom...
  24. However, to my shock, the contractor accidentally scratched three of my doors!! He insisted that it's not possible that his workers could have done it but the fact is, we had inspected everything after the carpenter left last Saturday and the scratches weren't there. Have informed my carpenter and he promised to resolve the issue with his contractor. Seems like our cabinet is giving us problems again and again. This is quite a big headache as solid doors will need to be replaced once scratched, there's no way you can touch-up the defects. It's unlike laminated wood whereby u could just replace the laminates. That will probably take another 1 to 2 weeks to reproduce. And they don't come cheap, according to my carpenter, the doors cost about $200 each.
  25. We had the solid tabletop for our kitchen cabinet installed yesterday. Glass hob from Tecnogas Solid surface sink We decided to custom make a solid surface sink that is matching to our tabletop, as it looks nicer than a stainless steel one. Costs more but it gives a sleek finish to our cabinet.
