price is know is ard $5 psf. so if ur mirror is (7 feet x 1 feet)x $5 =you get the amount. (inclusive of 3mm plywood backing and delivery and install, No Gst charge). but maybe they wont charge u so cheap if u just doing 1 piece (i probably got that rate as im doing 3 big pieces). coz also need to pay the worker to specially deliver . prices are all in yellow pages, just keep calling and ask... i nt recommanding any suppliers/contractors, coz i dunno their workmanship yet., but if u got the cash, i know a very expensive supplier/contractor u can go to... they wanted to charge me $1.4K for a mirror that i was quoted as low as $250. hiak hiak btw, got 1 uncle told me they use quality mirror frm belgium, not taiwan mirror... but i dun think anyone can tell the diff lah... the belgium mirror he quoted me was REALLY EXXX.. ard $800-900 for 5x8ft. and of coz tat is a nono la

ehh, i think when they say wall to wall, it means ur left and right side of the mirror is wall... not mean u stick it on wall. mirror with plywood backing, thebacking comes in a few thickness, some is 10mm, 5mm, 3mm. i heard, if too thick and not mounted wall to wall, it will be heavy for the wall tiles and ugly if u can see the wood frm the side. if too thin, and ur mirror is big piece, it may become wavy and unstable...i also not too sure.., different contractor telling me different things. but if put in bathroom, the edges must seal with silicon to prevent moisture /water frm getting in.

Hi all, just for the record, all my few IDs quoted me $400 to even $700! for a 5x8 ft mirror and i've called up many many mirror contractors and a few reasonable quotes i gotten ranges frm $200-300 to do a frameless 5mm thick mirror with another 5mm plywood backing, sealed with white silicon. (the most outrageous i got is $1200++ frm a direct mirror contractor.. omg..) this cost is inclusive of delivery (by lift) and installation and NO GST! woohoo!... and u can choose u wan them to stick it on ur tiled bathroom wall or hang it... according to research, hanging may crack ur wall tiles and pasteing will also risk ur wall tiles falling off with the mirror! some uncles even rejected doing wall-to-wall mirrors for me in the bathrooms, saying given their 30 over years of instaling-mirror-experience, mirrors in bathrooms will not last more than 2 years, but.. im still gg ahead with it, since so many ppl doing it lahh... sanjing: im not doing any painting, glass, acid wash leh... mainly carpentary. so maybe my problems will be lesser bah..

Any advice on G plan
mud3210 replied to mattmatt's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
I agree with you if the ID/contractor cant even handle/understand simple instructions, DO NOT bother to further discuss ur ideas with them. coz in the future will create even more problems. but i tink a lot company are in fact like G-plan, they take ages to come back with a quote. i think it is quite usual. but of course, i wont bother to wait for these kind of company to revert... they r not the only ID in singapore mah.. -
for the benefit of all forummers, these are my research on the window grilles (portion info is quoted frm another forum): Genaral type of grilles (pls feel free to add on) : 1) bronze ?? 2) silver aluminium 3) powder coat color (e.g. grey/white/black) aluminium wrought iron grilles is the type whereby you can see patterns/designs on the grille kind. Non-galvanized wrought iron normally feels smoother while galvanized ones feels rougher. Other than tat, theres no other visual indication to tell between the two. Get the ID/contractor to show the difference by comparing put them side by side. Heard some ID/contractor actually get the grilles galvanised twice for better protection During the installation of the windows, your contractors must use stainless steels screws to secure the windows. and ur window grille have to use same look as hbd installed windows to match the exterior design of ur apartment (need to check) Price by psf: Powder Coat Grille (2mm aluminium, double hollow) : ard $6.50 Powder Coat Grille (0.7mm aluminium, double hollow) ard $5 Powder Coat Sliding window ard $11 Non Powder Coat Sliding window ard $9.50 double hollow is suppose to be more "solid" than single hollow Non-powder coat grille and window is cheaper than powder-coat by $2 psf anything else we should watch out for? can someone advise pls thanks

hi all, this Mr Tan sounds like a nightmare, frm wat i see above, he seem to charge $88 pfr for kitchen cabinet. that is $2 cheaper than my next lowest quotation.. so in fact, i dont think mr tan's price is so attrictive afterall. I will only consider him if he is AT LEAST $4K less than wat the rest of the contractors are offering me, anything less than that i wont likely consider him lah.. can i know how much cheaper is his reno costs as compared to your next lowest, according to ur research? can PM me also if convenient.. thanks

their boss came back to me a few days ago on the price and it seemed okay, they follow basic instructions when i asked them to revert with pricing EXACTLY as in my email. that is alr. a good start since he never attempt to change a single word out of the file i sent him, however, i have another lower quotation and from a reputable company, so i am gg to see how Sq rm can match up with them in terms of the price and workmanship b4 we decide further.

Final Payment To Id
mud3210 replied to cwongst's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
yeah, i second this. if u ask too much discount / dun pay when u r suppose to, they may pour cement and choke ur pipes b4 they hand over. some will damage the back of ur toilet bowls and places u dun really go and check often... u never hear of such incidents b4 mah.. -
can PM me his contact too? thanks a mil.

im thinking, if someone start a thread on Ah Keong soon will this thread be dead in a year? *okok im being wicked * i been to Patrick and he's quotation is a SHOcKKKK cum disappointment, i was initially thinking, if he really give me a contractor price, i will surely let him do my hse lor, .based on SO MANY GOOD testimonials here, but too bad for me lah.. he just too pricey for a contractor. Must BE he's toooo famous liao.. but when u see their showflat, its really no faboulous as wat the ppl say in here, it's JUST AVERAGE lahh... seeing is beliving! go try! hurhurhur* But hor if i am contractor, one day become famous, i will also up my price lah, even if my workmanship may not be fabulous, but i can give good after service and ppl will still worship me. SO.. maybe without Patrick, Ah Keong will be cheaper yeah? anyone has his hp can Pm me pls? on the account i had shared so many valuable info w u'all in renotalk -
thats why i think all customer's policy should be: give a reasonable offer and do not force a price on ur ID if he keep saying cannot. Let your ID suggest a price he feels okay with and if it suit you then good, if not dun force them to give u discount la.. just move on.. surely nobody wans their ID to be "buey gum wan" when renovating their hse right? if he really cannot meet ur price then too bad lah... why risk getting an ID who will not give his best when doing his job, right?
-
oh! that's great to know, they r bring me to a show flat tmr, could it be yours? if not can i go to ur hse to see see lol quite frankly, i have been requesting quotations frm a some companies and a few reverted my quotation in a totally new format, (probably one that is easy for them to read but difficult for me to understand), with some things not included frm my original quote, by doing that, it indirectly portrays that the ID may have difficulty understanding my requirements, so that is causing some worry... nevertheless, i hope this thomas or jeremy will be as good as u described
