Hi all! PMed! -
Hey Onyx! I'm sorry. It's not at Funan. It's KEC at Adelphi!
-
My bf kanah tok liao. Good for you! =) Hey Onyx, We got it from KEC at Funan Centre. Apparently, all other dealers are aware KEC give a better price for the pod speakers. You may want to check it out. We spent a total of about $3.5k. Sorry, folder which all our receipts are kept is not with me, I always only give a rough amount. hehe... The Red and Matte Black are beautiful and more expensive. Ha BunBun, I have not used it yet too but I guess it should be ok ba. My bf managed to chopped the garlic finely with it. Thanks ilmare612, it's wallpaper. It's from goodrich. Beautiful it may be, but last only for a few years. Isn't it great if it's laminate right?

Thank you luckable. We bought it at $1160. Your JP was Mr Chia too? Hey Jessie, Unfortunately, they cannot be locked. ahjane, haven't found out from my ID yet, cos we went through him to get it done. Thank you ranval9. I just noticed that your ticker says you still more than a year to your wedding. And you have a house already? mwerks, it's always the case. hehe... Fortunately, he bought this himself.... I am more than glad....

it's actually a calendar... Hi, it's from precious moment. =)

Hi crystal15, I thought my bf was kidding me, till I saw the real thing. I laughed as well. He said, it's for her future daughter to play. Then the next question from my mum is, so is the divider for my son to climb in future? Hey 77suns.. why not? I thought it's so fun... Thank you for the suggestion. Thinking of either to have a painting above the dining or to have a loud display on the table. Not considering rug. We could have bought a bigger table with stainless steel legs to give a contrast. However, we were blindly falling in love with this one without 2nd thought and bought it. =)
-
Bluberi, u are still so funny... In fact we spend a bit more like on the wall paper and the divider... else ours also look like kena robbed. And we changed the wall color to a darker shade (initially was this lighter grey with vintage yellow), it makes a difference.

Hey yapyap, this 3D drawing was so many months back. reminding our initial stage of planning for the house. We no longer have the partition at the entertainment are. We merge dining and study to become the entertainment area, and the living and balcony for a bigger living area, also in order to have the dining table just after the foyer. We still can put a mahjong table in between the table and living, not so bad.... Congrats! And all the best to your Reno ya... Ours took a long time... Hi Byr, Thank you. I am not sure as well. Be meeting my ID tmr, will check with him and let u guys know. =) We did for about 700+ Hi Vera and Jessie... The bedside drawers are from Kartell I bought them at $148 each.

Hi 77suns... It's totally fine and I thought it looks so different with the colors. Honestly, we really ever thought of getting a Lime Green rug.. which in the end we decided to keep it down. Not daring enough la... And I really like the feature behind the sofa u had it there... nice.... Will be looking around for colorful accessories though.. Thank you for your effort!! Hi Crystal, Thank you. 1) Door stopper - from Precious Moment @ Tampines Mall. 2) The black man thing under the tv - Decor Hut @ Central sells it. =) 3) The small trolley - err... this one my bf bought from Japan. =) Hey Bunbun, Thank you very much. We are definitely taking your suggestion! =) However, need to save some cash for wedding next year. Big hole liao... hehe... Thank you Compassvale!! Hi bluberi Thank you. Total reno is aroung 48k... Hey Itsy, It's our ID who sourced for it. In fact they are the same as those who do the iron gate/ grille. =)

Hi all, it's been very long since I last log into Renotalk. I would just like to share the finally completed matrimonial house by Ideal House, Steven. It begins from flipping through numerous home styling magazines, going around to showrooms, surfing Renotalk looking at others beautiful home to get ideas and inspiration. And it all pieced up into what is shown below. And finally I found a theme only after completion, The White & Grey Theme. The Entrance = Welcome The Foyer at the Entrance The Dining The Living The Entertainment Corner The Study Corner The Bombshelter Feature The Kitchen The Common Toilet Entering the MBR At Where We Rest The Dressing Corner (from here onwards are all taken by phone. Camera batt dead.) The MBR Toilet The Guest Room We needed some color display in the Living, to give the simplicity the right touch of fun.

Ideal House Id

Hi all, we have finally completed the renovation. We have not officially handover yet though. Here, I would like to do a simple rating for each segment of the renovation and of course our ID, Steven, from Ideal House. 1) Let's all begin with laying of tiles. ***** We have no complaints about it. Be it on the floor or on the wall. The workmanship is very good. After carpentry was up, Steven spotted a chipped on one tile. The man came back just to fix that particular tile. Despite it's just one tile, with a small chip, it takes alot of sweat out of the man. Yet, he is still very friendly and patient. Laminates were pretty well laid too, despite there are some gaps over the days, which I think it is common. It should be more obvious as our laminate is in snow white, thus i thought the few gaps are pretty minimal. The laminate man had come up to fix it as well. 2) Painting. *** Our unit has a problem and that is all walls and ceilings are uneven and slanted. Depending on who is coming up paint the house that day. They are so far quite good and very easy to talk to. Very willing to act upon request. There is this dark grey in our living room. Once, I wiped it with damp cloth and leave 2 marks behind. To remove them, they have to repaint the whole wall again else to repaint the area would cause 2 tones. And it was twice they repainted the walls. However, the first time was not caused by me. Oh, we changed color twice, once in the room, once in the hall. 3) Carpentry **** I think it is really a wrong move to use white laminate as the joining will make the whole thing look incomplete. The carpenter needed to touch up the gaps with white paint and we have a number of white carpentry at home. We were pretty satisfied with the workmanship at the end of the day. With my dad who used to be carpenter, too, thinks it is pretty well done. The carpenters are all very nice people to work with as well. Sweat like **** and still friendly, given the numerous time they have to come back to the house, redo the console, redo the cabinets. Haa... 4) Wallpaper Man ** It comes to a point that I told my ID to change a wallpaper man. He ever mentioned that it is a tough task at where we want to have the wallpapers. However, we do not find it a good excuse. This is because, we seen torn wall paper. He could have replaced it with a new piece instead of just leaving it alone. We could also see crooked edges on a straight panel. He kept telling us, "I scared liao", "Don't ask me to come back liao" bla bla bla... Ok, perhaps his workmanship is not so good, perhaps it's really tough that require more than just a person to do it, but his attitude really let me down. 5) Our ID, Steven Tay ***.5 Steven, after all is a very nice guy. Sometimes, I wonder what is his threshold for all the unrealistic expectation of some customers. He is initiative and honest. Whenever he sees problem, he will inform us and try to solve it. Or when we told him about some problem or things we would like to change, he will see into it. He drew up the kitchen for me. So basically, the kitchen design is done by him. Also, our MBR. Partly, it was suggested by him. =) And these, in the house, are becoming my favorite. =) Many times, we made request which overwhelmed him. He tends to say can do but very difficult. I always urged him to take up the challenge for a better portfolio.. That becomes Bf sometimes, have to work hand in hand with him to make it work. On my part, I am not so technically inclined to explain exactly how it works. But, some failed, some were simplified, some were successful. To me, he could try more new or different things from what he has been doing all the time. To my bf, he is person very easy to discuss things with and act on things promptly. We would like to recommend Steven. =) Will be posting some photos of his work in our Reno T-blog. Stay tuned. -
Hello bluedusk.... your house is completed! Congrats!

Hi Lowmh, sorry to only see your message today, I know I am late... The latest amendment to the quote is $46k. However, there still some changes here and there, so we are expecting not more than $50K.

Is that the Grid from Evov?! It looks gorgeous in Purple! It's indeed costly. But it's defy worth getting! Go for it!

We are considering over 3 sofas. Or rather 2. 1st Choice: From Objet. Bf love the way it slopes that give some edginess to the house. Objet os now having sales to end July. 2nd Choice: From Massimo. It's simple and modern. One that will not go wrong. Mission from Evov. We used to consider getting this. However, the comfort of it did not win us over. I llike their Satori sofa though but BF didn't like it. Bf like the Box Sofa, may splurge for the entertainment area.

I agree with you we cannot 100% rely on our ID even though my ID is quite a responsible man. Lovely house you have even before completion.

The Hiccups So Far... Our renovation began with two idiots who have no idea what to do with the house. We bought every magazine that publishes monthly hoping to see something we like. It did not work out as things we liked are of mixed theme that's why I had a post on ROJAK theme. Our poor ID has proposed a few layout and design which had been rejected by us. The only one accepted was the kitchen and yet I still change some details at the end of the day. Our schedule has always been pushing back, of many reasons. We do not have a full proof of how our house will look like. We design our own house as it progresses. Many times, we wonder does the problem really lie on us especially when we have very different opinions. Firstly, it begin on selecting the tiles which took weeks. And then it was deciding the laminate colors when he likes it maple and I like it dark walnut. Then it came the miscommunication on the kitchen floor tiles which wasted another week to request for permit, hack and re-laying them. Finally, the electrical and ceiling work began! ID noticed the L-Box was wrongly. And so when it was finally changed and redone, they found another problem, the spotlight does not fit the size. The worker were very reluctant to tear everything down and redo it again as it is going to be alot of work. Fortunately, ID managed to source from another lighting shop that fits. My heart pinched that time when seeing the amount of material we have wasted. Next, would be the very low ceiling in our house. Now, we worried what happened if the platform is up. Bf decided to reduce it to 3-inch and we wonder if a 3-inch platform will look abnormal. Painting should start this Tues, but fickle minded us requested to hold till we meet him again on wed and final the colors. The white on white theme will seem to go. The tv feature and console has been taking a long time to confirm the design as well. Due to some wiring problem. My ID and Bf is still in the midst of discussing how to make it seamless. It's going to be unexpected. It's going to be a surprise. At least I have decided on the bombshelter feature.

Thanks. At least you still have chance to amend.

Thanks Bunbun, ID did mention to us the eveness and levelling of the laminate which we think we can't really do much about it already. We happened to drop by our neighbour's newly renovated house, our Beam with the aircon trunking is much lower. and our flooring is much higher. urgh... we wonder about the beam. but we know we can't do much for the floor. ID told us that there is a layer of skeleton just below the the trunking to support it. It's pretty standard also. Even neighbor's ID (he was there when we were there) also told us it should be a standard. then y our neighbor's one is not as low as ours leh?? My bf could stretch his arm below the beam of neighbour's but only could do a 3 inch hand sign below ours..

We had a long day. The pod speaker man came up to roughly take a look at the placements and handover a super long cable. Mr Bf is in charge of it as I am not technically inclined with the sound system. Shortly after he left, our ID arrived. The very first thing he mentioned was he agreed that the headboard was too high and told his worker to amend it. Within the next minute, the headboard height was reduced. As compared to other units, the flooring of our house is about 1-2 higher that makes Mr Bf quite unhappy. According to ID, this is because to level up with the screeding in the room which were done by HDB contractors. He told us the screeding was done higher than usual and it is pretty common among the works that were done by HDB contractors. I wonder if any forummers faced the same problem as us? Bf felt we could have made a mistake in order to save cost, however he felt that our ID could also have warned us about it if he had already noticed it. And as compared to our neighbor, the aircon trunking below the beam in the center of our living was much lower too. That in turn causes the whole beam looks so much lower after box up and it is only 3-4inch above Bf's head. It felt like Bf is going to knock on his head everytime he walks under it. Despite the fact that he is tall, personally, I felt it is really low. Other than that, we have also chosen the color of the paintings and discussed about the tv console, tv feature and bomb shelter feature today. ID wanted to cover as much as possible so that he could handover on time. He did mention there might be slight delay, which we didn't really mind. We have purchased most lighting and just short of a standing lamp the living. Surprisingly, lightings stage was pretty fuss free and cheap. So far, including all ceiling lightings we have paid for from Chelsea, the dining and MBR lights, we spent a total of about $1600, which is so much within budget. Let me end my post today with a picture of the foyer that was long done but never revealed before.
