an update of my curtains - I did NOT go to Jimmy's textiles afterall. I called Karbell but wasn't impressed with the lady cos she lost interest when I told her I am compairng quotes. I chose Sunrin (http://www.sunrindesign.com/) who has an exhibition booth at the Singappore Expo recently. My husband decided to go with them cos the guy we served us - Cedric - was straightforward, no pressure placed on us, plus he quoted a reasonable price from the get go. The workmanship and drilling service were very good! Took 2 hrs to put in my hall curtains+rails and three other rails for bedrooms ie didn't rush through and measure slowly. he also vaccummed as he drilled. What I like best is that they gave "extra" services not offered by Jimmy's - (1) make sure joining cloth match curtain patterns; (2) our tiebacks are kidney-shaped type and they sew extra black strip for decor; (3) double pleats changed to 5 inches apart with deeper pleats; (4) double hemming for day curtain to give extra weight. The stitching is very good - I know a bit abt sewing. We paid $600 for day+night (heavy luxurious double-sided fabric 70% block) curtains+rails+blind removal/disposal for hall (3.8m window width; 250cm drop); and another $110 for curved rails for three more windows. Cedric came twice to show us materials. They ahve own workshop. You can tell him Annie recommended. If someone can direct me how to pupload photos, i can put them up here.

Hi everbody, I am still looking for curtains! Can you all review and let me know if these quotes are ok (they seem not as cheap as I thought): Jimmy Textiles: 1 set day+night curtains 370cm x 250cm = $620 (midrange quality) Roller blind 60cm x 250cm = $150 2 x Rails only for MBR windows = $73 Yours Furnishing (River Valley): 1 set day+night curtains 370cm x 250cm = $550 (midrange quality) Roller blind 60cm x 250cm = $290 2 x Rails only for MBR windows = $72 AIK Brothers: even more expensive Can anyone comment on quality and workmanship of Home Furnishings (their phone service, I like) thx

I just got mine custom-made from Santuary Dian along Jalan Ampas Road, Balesteir. They are yet to deliver it so I can't comment on their workmanship but those on display in their showroom looked very nice and "high-quality-looking". I know of this place from this forum. The couple who runs the warehse, Jenome and karen, are extremely friendly and patient. We paid abt $2200 for a 2.8m x 1.8m L-shaped sofa custom-made in the design we want. The fabric felt plush too. the other place we went to is Om, Jooseng Rd. they have a large selection of sofas but we only saw two that we like. Their prices are also around 1800-2800.

Jule, please do share your dissatisfaction regarding the workmanship cos I am planning to go to Jimmy Textiles this weekend. Also Simeiz and max, would you mind uploading pictures of your curtains from Jimmy textiles too? I am quite concerned cos I have heard curtain sewing workmanship and fabric quality in S'pore are generally not very good. My sister's curtain pleating workmanship was uneven and too tightly spaced making the curtains not sit 'straight and tidy'. Anything, which area is Eminent Plaza located?

Hi all, Wish to get the divan-type trundle bed (super single size) with mattresses, the type where the second bed pulls out from the bottom. I don't want to spend too much cos it is for the maids room. Anyone with recommended shops? Thanks

Hi all, I have a 2-year old and wish to decorate her bedroom nicely with some girlie furntiure. Specifically we wish to buy a low shelf (so she can access her books) and the Ikea pull-out drawer set (to put small toys). I don't want to spend a bomb on them though. Can anyone recommend shops that sell specifically children furniture in S'pore? We just relocated to S'pore so everything is new to us. We live in Simei area. We have gone to Ikea but would like to explore other options. MANY thanks.

Hi all, Wish to get high quality curtains for living room (night and day curtains) and master bedroom (total blackout curtains). One of the two master bedroom windows is weird U-shaped. Anyone can recommend good curtain makers who would come to our home to quote? We need rails and curtains. How abt Spotlight? We just arrived Singapore so a general idea of how much they would cost would be great. THANKS
