  1. I had also received his quote via email. But even before engaging him, doesn't you all meet up to discuss finer details? There are a lot of things in his quote I need clarifications on, so I go ask his wife??
  2. i see... now i know gum sia for the detail explanation apple!!
  3. ohhhhhh... so it's like that... thanks apple, it helps a lot, not a little! At least now I dun feel that mountain turtle !! I can see the usefulness for the kitchen ones.. but hor for the wardrobe.. hmm what are the advantages of using the pole over the conventional wardrobes? Save space or for aesthetic purpose??
  4. I guess I'm a very primitive person and my idea of kitchen cabinets and wardrobe are just rows and rows of shelves and planks or poles for your to put and hang stuff. But I found out that there are these so called 'system' for kitchen and wardrobe... blum.. poliform.. alumix etc etc.. I am really confused here. I tried reading them up and still confused Can any kind souls here tell me what are these systems, and what's so special or different about them??? Can't the carpenter do the same thing? Why do people go for these systems??
  5. WHAT! Ok, i'm getting abit worried now.. Do you have a lot of special requirements? How come so much?? Do you mind PM me your quotation?? I'm waiting for the quotes from IDs now.. I hope i dun get a heart attack.. I thought most EMs' kitchen size quite alright leh.. But I'm also playing around the idea of sectioning the utility room to have a laundry room, but 1 ID brought up to me that it's very troublesome to bring the wet clothes to the bamboo poles there to hang.. which I thought makes sense.. so I dropped the idea. When I was searching for a unit, I notice Hougang is one of the estates with lots of EM units compare to others.
  6. hey phoenix, sorry i totally forgot about this thread until today then I saw your post me staying central/east, moving to hougang by end of this year, now staying at kallang. noticed u staying at woodlands area? !!
  7. hi to all experienced roomba users! I had always wanted to get a irobot vacuum for my new house. But I have some questions & hope can get some answers from seasoned users. If my house is 2 storey, how do I make sure it clean upstairs and downstairs? Do I wait for it to finish 1 level first and literally carry it to the next level to continue? Or should I do it on alternate days, e.g. today clean level 1, next day then level 2... Sorry if it sounds stupid but I really need suggestions on how to go about it, I don't want to invest in 2 units, at least not for the moment. Then do you all normally on the base for 24hrs and let it sit there? Or do you all switch it off till the next day? I'm thinking more on the utility bills as there are so many things that I need to on it for 24 hrs.. like fish tank, water feature.. worried that the bill will be high
  8. xinyi thanks for your suggestion!!
  9. my BS doesn't provide the accessories. would like to ask other than chomel, where can I find such nice accessories suitable for wedding? TIA
  10. I agree with the rest, why regret since you had already bought the unit? You shd instead learn to love it instead. Be it high floor or low floor, it has it's own pros n cons. I had stayed at mid to high floor for many years.. frankly speaking, I find that it's really nothing fantastic. Some people claimed can see view, more windy etc.. but errrr.... unless your block is beside a really nice seaview, what you see are just blocks and blocks of buildings only what.. what's so great about that and I'm sure they won't admire the so called view religiously every day one lor I had also bought a 2nd floor unit recently collecting keys soon. My friends all commented, 'yucks why 2nd floor'. Alot of them told me only Malays and Indians stay 2nd floor (it's not meant to be a racist comment, but it's just their observation ) I asked them back what's so bad about 2nd floor? I can exercise by climbing stairs, no need wait for lift. I come home late at night can quickly run up to my unit no need scared to share lift with scary people. My unit just as windy as high floor units, and i have 1 patch of greenery view right in front of my balcony. My high floor unit also got lots of cockroaches so I believe it's heng suay whether your estate is clean or not. Alot of my friends stay high floor but not lift level 1, also gotta climb stairs up or down their unit, so what's the diff, still gotta climb stairs wat. Somemore high floor like so much more expensive than low floor, no point paying this premium. I had never thought much about high floor or low floor living until i started searching for my own house. I also requested for high floor when i asked the agent to look for a unit for us, without any specific reasons, it just seemed like a norm at that time. But after several unsuccessful viewings, we opened up our options and viewed low floor units. I'm very glad I did that, becos we had found our ideal unit. That's where I slowly grow to appreciate low floor living. But the most impt reason is........... my hubby has height phobia
  11. Congrats virgo on yr key collection and upcoming reno! Do update us of yr progress! Are you doing an overhaul? or just a minor reno? Do you mind PM me the quotation as I am also sourcing for either ID or contractor right now.
  12. Agree. I've decided to keep the 2nd floor common toilet. But will hack the wall to enlarge the MBR toilet into the common toilet. Common toilet will just be very simple with WC and basin, with mayb a showerhead.
  13. thanks! Good to know that it's accurate, at least I don't have to pay during 2nd appt anymore!
  14. thanks hello88 for your advice. Both my fiance and myself also cannot decide whether to touch it or not. but what you said makes sense.. mayb we'll just keep it very simple and save it for those just in case situation.
  15. Another thing I need advice from existing EM owners, especially those couples only staying on their own, without children, elderly and maid. I find the upstairs 2nd toilet abit redundant.. plus cleaning toilet quite tedious i think. Is it possible to hackaway the toilet, either merge it with the MBR toilet.. or merge and extend the 2nd bedroom? Has anyone done that before? If it is possible, by doing that will it by anyway bring down the value of the house if we were to sell it next time? Anyone can help?
  16. Can i check with you guys.. are all fees payable done during the 1st appointment? Will there be any 'left over' amount payable for the 2nd appointment? When the officer present the financial plan, are the info accurate and up-to-date? Do they calculate your CPF amount using the statement that we provide or they can extract our latest amount via their network? Is there anyway that they can calculate the information wrongly?
  17. Hi stargaze, congrats! Are you doing a minor reno or a total makeover? Can you PM me your ID and quotation? I am in the midst of sourcing for ID, but I wanna get a feel of the market price first, thanks!
  18. hi blownup, yes yes i remembered seeing yr avatar before!! it is really nice leh.. that's why i'm contemplating it. If clean once a month then not that bad, manageable
  19. Yup, COV, and caveat fee which is about 100+ for us
  20. I am also worried about the impracticality of the glass railings.. So i wanna get feedback from people who had done it before. PMed prettibride already, hope she still visits this forum! How much were u quoted last time ah? Thanks! haha actually after putting the ticker, makes me more nervous as it keeps reminding how little time i have left.. Been losing sleep these few nights from overdose of excitement from wedding and reno planning... U were right about the signing forms part... i signed until my signature all out of shape ok! I don't remember the last time i used my hand to write something for so long Yes, COV paid on 1st appt, plus the caveat fee (donno what's that haha just pay only). But funny thing is, I expected to pay much more cash, but somehow they calculated, some of the things they actually deducted from CPF instead... I calculated the amount previously via the HDB calculator and I thought the stamp fee has to pay by cash too, which amounts to almost 9k.
  21. thanks hello88! haha u lagi good memory loh, still know the name somemore!
  22. I remembered seeing one of the forumer here who changed his staircase railing to glass.. Can i ask if it is hard to maintain/clean? e.g. will there be lots of fingerprints, dirt, etc.. !! How often do you clean? How do you clean the outside of the glass? Anyone can help? Thanks!
  23. wahahahah another mj addict reporting here!
  24. My FSM told me actually there is no taboo to 'chu jia' from new house or hotel. But traditionally, we should marry off from our maternal home, go to groom's house for tea ceremony, and then come back to bride's maternal home for 2nd round of tea ceremony. The trip should only be between the bride's maternal home and groom's house as it signifies 'shuang shuang dui dui' and 'yuan yuan man man', we should not make another trip to the new house in between as it becomes a triangle which is not very good. So i guess if marrying off from other places other than the maternal home, just make sure you have your tea ceremony at the same place.
  25. hi all btb and congrats! I'm a Sept 08 bride, and I'm with Kai Bridal Couture, and my photographer is Wansheng from Feldberyl. Love their works to bits
