Hi Ben I respect this mutual understanding that we had and that's the reason I refrained from making sweeping statements about the company or their goods or even uploading photos. What I shared was solely objective. Having surfed this forum for some time now, i've read that quite a few of us had similar experiences, not just with your company but many others as well. What I am doing here is basically to let them know that there is an avenue they can turn to, instead of taking the bitter pill and calling it 'arse luck'. Hope this clears the air. yukkeen

Hi everyone The matter is finally resolved with a cash refund of the damaged sofa. The question is...I don't know where chilla 18 heard the news that they are closing from. A call made to their office was also answered by a lady who confirmed they are closing, with the intention of moving out of the premise. I made a trip there 5 weeks later and they are still there!!! So chilla18, whoever you are, are u one of their insider?? Anyway, as per my last post, the 2nd order deadline ran out and nothing was heard from them. I went on to file a writ of seizure. Lotsa paperwork and running ard and filing costs involved too. But as I said before, I just want justice. A couple hundreds, to me, is worth paying to see justice done! So seizure was set on a certain day. And on the eve of the seizure.....my wife got a call from Ben. He has decided to refund the amount as of the last order. I could have carried on with the writ and claim back all the expenses and interest as allowed by the court. But again, it's not all abt money isn't it? JUSTICE is the word. To those who have a similar ordeal, i urge you not to give up. Cheers!

Anyone visited IFC since October 2010? Can someone verify if this company is still operational, closed for renovation or shifting out? Appreciate any help rendered. Thanks

Hi chilla18 Where did u hear the news from? How do u know this is their last month of operation at IFC?

Hi I would love to share my experience as to the aftermath of this fiasco which has spanned over 8 mths and counting. It's not so much about the sofa now as it is about justice. Hopfully my experience with Living Instinct will send a warning to all other furniture shops hoping to pull a fast one over unsuspecting customers.

This sounds pretty much like what I have experienced. Peeling and discolorisation. This is totally unacceptable! These bogus furniture shops should be taught a lesson. A pity you do not have the sales invoice anymore, otherwise you could file a claim against them at SCT. I did just that and have obtained 2 favourable orders and now just waiting for the deadline to pass. If they don't return me the cost of the sofa, I will go on to file a Writ.

Hi Cybermirage have u started your claims against Living Instinct? I am still waiting for the Order deadline to run out. It seems they have not filed an appeal to the High court cos I have not received any document. I have checked that they would need to fork out at least $1600 to lodge an appeal. It would be fun when I go down to their office at IFC to seize goods with a bailiff should they not pay me back the cost of the sofa.

Hi your predicament sure is distressing! The good news is that filing at SCT is a really simple process. Just fill up some documents which you can find at www.smallclaims.gov.sg, pay $15 and you are done. But here's the bad news. Given that the company u contracted to make the bookcase has already closed, there's very little you can do. Unless a separate contract is drafted with the new company taking over. Then your claims would be against the new company. Otherwise whether the new company delivers or not is basically an act of good will. You might be better off waiting for your bookcase.

Why I am surprised that the director of Living Instinct actually does take feedback seriously! I, for one, have a 'misunderstanding' with them and have attempted numerous times, either via telephone or email to get in touch with Ben. And each time, their employee will say that Ben is out of town. Company and even personal emails were not replied to. So, I actually do emphatise with Longbow and believe he is actually genuine.

Hi Pekkle let me share my experience with Living Instinct. I purchased a 3 seater sofa set priced at almost $2500. Cream colored, 'full Carrera leather' as stated in the invoice. About 1.5 yrs later, it started to peel and decolorise at specific areas, only on the backrest and headrest. (I shall not attach any photos of the damage here lest it offends any Living Instinct fans. Those interested can PM me for it.) I called up the company and was told that a replacement of the leather could be done at $1600, of which I would pay $800. I refused the arrangement and no compromise was made. Further calls and emails to their boss were ignored. Subsequently, I went to the Small Claims Tribunal and successfully obtained a favourable order for a leather replacement at no cost. Replacement was not done by the deadline and a 2nd favourable order was obtained to enforce the first order, failing which, to reimburse the cost of the damaged item. Am still waiting for the 2nd deadline to run through...
