  1. Some updates on the progress over the last week... Tiling 95% of tiling work have been completed, the only things left are the touching up, the bomb shelter and some wall tiles in the toilet to be done up after my ventilation fan installation. The guestroom and study room tiles are done also. So tiling took 2 weeks to complete 95% instead of the 3 weeks planned. Guestroom Study room Electrical works Went down over the weekend and was surprised that electrical works have started. It wasn't slated to begin for another week so this was way ahead of schedule Wiring for L-box in living area Wiring for dining area false ceiling Wiring for MBR false ceiling Shifting of power points and SCV points in study room. ID suggested routing the wires under the tiles thru PVC pipes and the result is much less trunking I'm glad the wires are neatly punched through the walls instead of going around the room... Complaints Not everything can be swee swee while doing reno. This is our main complaint of the day - a drainage point in the kitchen not done to my expectation. We feel that this part can be done much better. Firstly they should not have used the white colour cover cos it is too much of an eyesore. Secondly, the vertical removable tile is not well done and it doesnt sit snugly in the hole. Instead if I push it, it will become slanted. Complained to ID and he promised me he will get them to redo the whole thing. He propose using a removable tile to replace the white cover (since it is elevated and probably wont be needed for drainage. He will also get them to do up the vertical portion properly.
  2. Final colour scheme confirmation Courtesy of ICI design service. Living rm - Sandstone + lily white Finally decided on sandstone over mocha delight due to its lighter shade... MBR - Natural linen + lily white Guestroom - Bracken sand + lily white Study room - Vintage yellow (Not sandstone as stated in pic) + pure white I think vintage yellow looks better with pure white than lily white...
  3. Got it at $399 incl transportation. I can't remember the shop name. If u really interested, i can check out the invoice tonight.
  4. Thanks, we like it too Haven seen u around for a while... Hows your reno progressing?
  5. The barang barang one was selling at 50% ($245) last weekend during their May Day promotion. Think you missed the chance... I bought 4 dining chairs for half their usual price. Pehaps u can wait till GSS to buy? I'm sure they have more promos then. I got mine at furniture mall. Think they have a few other designs. See my t-blog for more details.
  6. Today went to Choo Chiang and go this... A Hager timer switch for my foyer light. It will be fixed into the MCB box and the light will auto turn on everyday for a certain period of time. Have been looking for something like this for a long time cos I want a timer switch that is neat and concealed, not those bulky timers sold in DIY shops.
  7. Yup... We'll definitely be using this vintage yellow to brighten up the house I think this service is great
  8. ICI got back to me today after I asked them to make changes yesterday... How efficient Anyway, here are the edited photos. We have more or less decided on the colours to take. Think I will ask them to make one last edit and we're done Second round scheme Living room - Sandstone + lily white I like this. Not too dark like mocha delight yet can bring out the wall... We are settled with this colour for the living room MBR - Braken Sand + lily white Dont really think we should use this combi in the MBR but we'll use it in the guestroom instead since the wardrobe there is of a lighter colour Guestroom - Natural linen + lily white We'll use this combi for the MBR since our wardrobe and bedframe will be of a darker shade. Study room scheme 1 - Stone cave + lily white Study room scheme 2 - Vintage yellow + lily white We love the vintage yellow. Though it doesnt strictly conform to our resort theme, we feel that one room with colourful wall will be fine... Plan to make this room into a lively and nice place for reading and relaxing.
  9. Incredible! You surveryed and met up with so many IDs before deciding!! We only surveyed about 5 IDs and met up with 2 or 3... How much is your reno quote? Anyway your unit looks large. Whats the floor area? Your 5rm seems comparable to my EA in terms of size But RP units better be a bit more cautious, make sure the previous owner didnt do anything funny like borrow from loan shark or anything like that...
  10. Yeah... It really helps in choosing the colours especially when the colour they put on are so real... Not sure about Nippon service though... Maybe should go try also
  11. I consulted with ICI dulux on my paint choices and today they got back to me with the samples! The colours they did on the walls are really life-like and are a great help in helping me visualise how things will turn out From the picture I think mocha delight in the living room is fine. I'm thinking of bracken sand in the MBR while natural linen in the guestroom. Don't really like the study room combi. Anyway I'm getting them to do some changes and hopefully I'll see another set soon Best of all this service is free if u use ICI paint I just gave them the pictures I took before any reno done and they can work with those... NOTE: All colours are computer generated and not painted on yet!! Living room MBR Guest room Study room
  12. Sure no problem. Contact as follows: Jasmine Central Aluminium 63683313 One thing to note is if you're already staying in there, you may be only able to take the fixed panel window cos if you want the top hung window, the surrounding tiles may be damaged during installation. Also price does not incl wiring of the fan, you have to find an electrician to do it.
  13. Hi I dont have a soft copy of the quote. You can find me on MSN every night after 9pm... I already added u to my contact list.
  14. Another point to discuss... Do you guys have a switch to turn on/off the aircon compressor? Or do u all leave the compressor connected to the HDB provided socket on the aircon ledge and forever leave it at the 'on' position? Not sure if there is a need for a separate switch inside the house so can someone advise? Will the compressor suck power when not in use if I leave the socket turned on?
  15. You dont know the model? Where did u see it? I'm planning to get a Serta Missouri but still waiting to see if GSS they will lower the price. Best quote I got is from IMM serta shop at $3160 for king size with -bed frame -4 pillow -matress protector -bench -2 counting sheep toy
  16. An update to those interested in installing ventilation fan in the toilets. Central Aluminium sent a guy down to measure my window size and he says that since I want a top hung window, they might damage lining around my current windows. He says they'll try their best not to damage the tiles. In any case, my ID has agreed to redo any affected portion for me (though the contractor is engaged by me and not him) but hope it wont be much extra work for him... Top hung window for bathroom + KDK ventilation fan is costing me $214 each excluding electrical wiring. ID also agreed to paint over the resulting PVC casings in the toilet
  17. Hi you mean mocha or mocha delight? Nippon paint?
  18. Just went over to the site to meet Max and the ventilation fan installer today. The moment I stepped into the flat at about 2pm, I got a pleasant surprise... They have finished tiling the entire living + dining room floor and the kitchen + service balcony floor and master bedroom floor! The washing machine base is also up and tiled. All these were completed only in 1.5 days cos they werent there when I went over on sat And while we were talking with Max on how to lay the aircon trunking, one of the worker started working on the cabinet + fridge base and within half an hour, the entire base is nicely done up... Very efficient I'm also happy with the large washing machine base... There's even enough space for a dryer should we need one in the future Kitchen floor tiles I really like the combi here The floor complements the wall colour nicely... Hopefully the laminate we chose can fit in nicely too... Washing machine base in service balcony Really nicely done up. Large enough for a washing machine and a dryer side by side The pipe is for the drainage for the washer and there is a loose tile that can be removed to access the drain hole. Cabinet and fridge base This uncle got the base up in about half and hour. I expect them to finish tiling it today... MBR floor tiles The tilers were just finishing this room when we arrived. Cant really inspect closely cos the cement haven dried but on first look the workmanship looks good. So looks like my tiling will be completed ahead of schedule... They're left with only the guestroom and study room as well as the skrting for the entire house. Then I guess they'll need to touch up the grouting and the tiling will be done Hopefully by mid of next week... Now waiting for 3D drawing of my revised kitchen, shelter feature, tv feature and shoe cabinet...
  19. No problem OT a bit, since so many photoghers here, let me share some of my true macro shots... More at www.flickr.com/hobbes187
  20. Wah very obvious lei... Why they run it this way?? I'm also wondering if it is safe to conceal aircon trunking in false ceiling... If there are any problems in the future its going to be a hassle right? Now still cant decide whether to conceal in false celing or let it run near the ground.
  21. I've arranged with Central Aluminum to come take measurements for my fan tmr. Will be fixing 2 top hung windows with fan cos I want the window to be opened. For those who tap the fan to the light point, does that mean that when u one the fan, the light will be on as well? Is there a way to on just the fan and not the lights? I'm reluctant to run a new switch for the fan alone due to: 1) too many ugly wire casing in my toilets 2) my current switch are half-concealed in the wall so adding a new switch will mean one extra switch beside them that has a box thats not concealed. Ugly
  22. 450D is a good camera but since u already have 400D, might as well go for 40D. You get a lot more feature (pentaprism viewfinder, faster fps etc) and a solid magnesium alloy body. Now broke due to reno... No money to buy lens or camera (would love to get a Nikon D300)
  23. If you were referring to those pics I shot of the renovations, those were shot with normal zoom lens (18-200mm). Didnt bring my macro lens cos dont wanna expose it to the dusty and dirty environment The Nippon colour swatches were shot with Tokina 100mm macro lens. Anyway I support Nikon, using a D80. Canon cameras too plasticky and light for me
  24. May I know what is the brown colour used in your MBR?
  25. I'm flattered Usually I bring my compact digi cam with me to the site. But today's photos were taken with my DSLR with external flash so they look a bit better. I try not to bring such a big cam there when there're contractors working but since today is sunday I thought why not
