  1. Apple, I'm looking at the ID's proposal for my wardrobe now... Think there's a lot to change!!!
  2. Apple, your wardrobe layout is interesting. I never tot about leaving one full lenght one for the mrs. Maybe need to ask her if she needs it. What she really needs is lots of space for bags. She has lot of them Anyway how high are each of your drawers? I'm interested in putting in more drawers but i worry that they might not be as space efficient as shelves. I came out with a first draft of internal layout. Maybe can give me some comments? MBR Wardrobe draft - This one is used more for daily clothes and personal stuff Brown colour = Drawer Yellow colour = Belt drawer Grey = Hanger Basic design idea: To have a column on the extreme right with shelves to put bags. Drawers at about 1m height to put cosmetics and stuff as the mirror will be mounted on this door. Easier for the mrs to use. Version 1 - Pros: Belt drawer Cons: Less shelves space Version 2 - Pros: Larger shelves space Guestroom Wardrobe - This will be used to put our bags and stuff. Essentially a 2nd wardrobe for us top put the extra stuff Basic design idea: To have a column on the extreme left with shelves to put bags. Many tall shelves to put other stuff that cant fit into the first wardrobe like bedsheets etc... Version 1 - Pros: More space for bags and stuff Version 2 - Pros: Large drawer
  3. Max sms me and said we need to decide on how the interior of the wardrobe is going to be laid out. Where can I see lots of samples of wardrobe interior? I hope to maximise the space and fit in a good mix shelves and drawers to cater for hanging shirts, belts, ties for me and lots of bags for the mrs. My wardrobes are 7ft and 6ft each full height. Any input is greatly appreciated!
  4. Hi all, My reno has reached the carpentry stage and we need to decide on how the interior of the wardrobe is going to be laid out.
  5. Ya lor. But I think they need the false ceiling, piping, tiling etc etc to be up before they can measure accurately. Also, we changed the drawing so many times and confirmed only last week Wow thats fast! So how long did it take from measurement to completing the fabrication? Max told me 3 wks. And my sanitary will be after carpentry so no one can use my toilet bowl . You mean the Gruntel kitchen stuff? We have all the toilet ones on standby but the kitchen ones we tot it's better to wait till the cabinets are up before buying.
  6. Funny that you mention it cos we also feels he tends to be late for appointments. Always get too caught up in the previous unit? But as long as it's 10-15min, we're ok with it. There was once he had a problem with a Jurong unit and he didnt turn up to meet me. But at least he managed to get Steven to come instead. I hope ur reno goes smoothly too. These few weeks will be quiet cos they just took carpentry measurements last week and will take some time to fabricate. I also wanna show u more pix but the only thing to be done this week is the window installation. Hopefully can see it this weekend. Trying to create my own version of full height window so not sure how it will turn out Now waiting for carpentry to be fabricated. Will be a long long wait cos they took measurements only last week. Have your carpentry started yet?
  7. Mine is also not tempered glass. The salesman told me that as long as there are bent parts on the glass, it cannot be tempered one. Somehow he mentioned that a lot of shops like to mislead customers but he doesnt want to blah blah blah... But we got it still cos we really love the design. Yours is nice also, can put magazines neatly at the side. The muji one is about $200-300 for various sizes of the same design. But it is acrylic not glass. The problem with acrylic is that the scratches are super obvious under light! But its light-weight and sturdy.
  8. I think I see the problem why your quote end up so much higher than mine yet you dont have much carpentry. One reason is the 7% GST! When I signed with them they have not implemented GST so I saved the ~$2500. There a few other reasons and ways to cut the cost. Think its not nice to say it here so I have PMed you. I'm sure you can trim the price yet do some more stuff
  9. How much is the coffee table? Is it tempered glass? I saw one at Muji that looks exactly like this one.
  10. I've signed with ideal house and I think some of your items can be bargained a bit more. You can see my t-blog for what I did and for how much. In fact, I think my flat layout is similiar to yours. Where is this place?
  11. I noticed ur main door u installed the magnetic door stopper. Is it strong enough to hold the door with the auto closing spring?
  12. The installation is by Aluminium Central. They will change the window and fix the fan onto the window. But they will not do wiring so you have to get your electrician to run the wiring to a switch after they fix up the fan. See my t-blog for details!
  13. There were also a few times where the workers didnt close the windows and I have to close it for them. But to leave the aircon near an open window is quite irresponsible. Why didnt they just install when the delivered it? Did he look stress? I think he was afraid he might have to compensate the 2nd flr owner and before the meeting he told me the owner looked a bit fierce. But luckily they turn out to be ok... You unit is in Hougang rite? So its pretty near to SK and he probably met with u after the first meeting. Yeah that was my question too when I first heard the problem. But maybe they have their balcony window installed already or maybe its the lighting delivery guy who left the lights there. Or maybe they were going to install it on that day? I dont think we can blame them for leaving the lights there cos its their home and they can do anything they want. The problem now is why the pipe got choked and its the TC's fault
  14. Something interesting happened this week... ID did chemical wash in my place on Tues, I think they used a lot of water to clean up the entire place. On Wed morning, he got a call from HDB telling him that the 2nd floor unit's entire balcony was flooded due to our washing! The drainage pipe seem to be choked with cement and HDB were saying it could be due to our reno. But our debris had been cleared last week and all that was left during the chemical wash were dust. The thing is the 2nd flr unit is also undergoing reno now so my ID argued that it could be caused by anyone. It could also be caused by reno done long time ago! To make things worse, the 2nd flr owners left their newly delivered lights in the balcony and the flooding apparently damaged them!! And their lights cost $2000+ So yesterday my ID went down to meet the 2nd flr owner, HDB officer and town coucil officer to discuss this issue. Luckily, the 2nd flr owner didnt blame us and the conclusion was that it is the town coucil's fault for not maintaining the pipe properly. So now they will send in an official complaint and TC will claim from their own insurance. Phew, thank goodness we were not implicated. But ID did assure me beforehand that even if compensation was needed, it will be paid by them and not us.
  15. Thats why my ID told me he will install the WC last. But guess what the workers do? They pooped into my WC drainage hole!!
  16. Always nice to see another fellow SK-er Notice your 2nd bedroom has a ledge near the window. Is that part of the wall? You can use that as a display area...
  17. Glad you think the shelter feature is nice Let me reveal the answer to your "spot the difference" game I reduced the length of the bottom left laminate as it was initially too large a piece for our liking. Anyway, I myself always think other ppl have nicer 3Ds too! You're not the only one and its always a case of "the grass is greener on the other side". Well maybe for us it's "the 3D drawing is nicer on the other side"
  18. Some of the rest of the design to round up the set MBR wardrobe Guestroom
  19. Today we got the revised 3D diagram from the ID. And I'm glad we have finally approved it and measurement should commence tmr or the day after Living room - The console is done according to the design I drew for him. Seems I can be an ID too Shelter feature - We are 90% satisfied with the ID's design. After touching up with photoshop, we are going to go ahead with our self-edited version! ID version My photoshopped version Kitchen - Removed the other glass panel and lengthened one of the top cabinets. Also added 2 large drawers for placing pots and pans. MBR - Re-designed corner console. We find this acceptable and we know it is not easy to design this thing.
  20. No lei. Mine is the scanned copies also. Seems like he dunno how to get the original copies. I used photoshop to cut out the individual ones from the one he sent me. Anyway I just recieved my final 3D today and I've confirmed the designs. You can see my blog i asked him to redo about 4 times so you cant expect to get it right the first round.
  21. Leather will crack under prolonged sunlight exposure. Unless u apply leather protector religiously. Look at some of the leather seats in cars, they're under sunlight for a long time everyday and tend to crack if not well taken care of.
  22. My ceiling fan is finally up. I really like this fan! The 54" blades are a transparent arcylic material and it looks resort-tish yet modern. According to the shop, this is the latest model and definitely look better than the other wooden or metal blades fan I've seen so far I cant turn it on yet cos the wiring to the regulator is not done. It will be wired only after my carpentry is up since the regulator is going to be mounted on the side of the shoe cabinet. So I have no comments on the wind speed yet.
  23. Your curved shelves idea is interesting. Maybe I can do a sample of that when I have the time. I've asked my ID to come up with a new design for the MBR tv console. Waiting to see whether its better than mine.
