Seems like Max is getting more business Where is your new place?
-
The boss of sofaalabs also owns massimmo (www.massimmo.com) so I guess they're pretty safe. From what I gathered, if many ppl place their orders in advanced, the company is able to better manage their material ordering and manpower allocation. Also I think they have economy of scale if they can consolidate more orders rather than make piece by piece. These translate into savings which are passed down in terms of lower prices. Most importantly, the price is too attractive to turn down... $788 for a sofa that feels as comfortable as a $1500 one and free replacement cover too.

My ID is Max too and we're starting reno end of this mth. How much is your reno and what did u do? I am waiting for him to revise the drawing now. He gave you the first copy of you took pictures on the spot? I forgot to bring camera there when we viewed the drawing and my HP no cam...

I cant say who is better as I have never dealt with kenneth before. My reno with max is starting in 3 weeks time and all I can say is so far so good with him. He just seem like an honest chap compared with some of the other smooth-talking IDs i've seen before. Anyway I have sent u a PM on his number. Good luck to you. Have you knocked on all your tiles yet? I've found some tiles hollow on one corner, about 10% of a single tile area but both my ID and the HDB officer says that the standard to classify a tile as hollow is about 40-50% area hollow. So HDB wont hack it for me.
-
You can try to request as long as there are defects e.g. your tiles are cracked or damaged. If not they will not hack for you... I also dont like my tile but that's not a good enough reason for HDB to hack FOC Ended up getting ID to hack. Anyway for new flats less than 3 yrs old, you cant hack the tiles yourself so if HDB doesnt want to do it for you then you have to live with it!

SMS him to remind him lor... -
Steven came along when we went to select tiles with Max. I think he is quite enthuiastic that day and gave a lot of suggestions. But the salesman at Hafary is the best, he gives ideas non-stop!

Anyone tried www.sofaalab.com ? I'm going down to place my order tomorrow. The salesgirl says they have a promo for a free extra set of sofa fabric. Seems very worth it. I went down to try last week and the sofa are of good quality and the later you take delivery the cheaper the price! Anyway I heard the company is a startup with support from Spring Singapore so should be safe. I'm planning for them to deliver in Sept so I pay $788 instead of $1288.

Pull Door Or Sliding Door Glass Shower Screen
hobbes187 replied to hobbes187's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
I'm inclined towards swing door now. My Id says there are a kind of swing doors with smaller swing pane so it doesnt take as much space. -
Wah so good! If thats the case you can go to Hafary to look at the tiles you want. The tiles HDB gives is about $0.70 so you will top up whatever difference. Usually kitchen tiles cost $2.20-$3. So they only doing the kitchen for you but not the toilets? How uneven are the tiles? The HDB tiles are ugly... Think you should go for new tiles but make sure the contractor does a good job. Is the guy Mr Tee?

It can be quite fast from signing to starting work but we are not in a rush. We have to see the drawing, get it endorsed by my feng shui master and then start work on a good day

Hi guys, I wanted to install a sliding door shower screen in my MBR toilet but am having second thoughts after speaking to some frens. They were saying it is more difficult to clean and fungus may grow in between the sliding and fixed panel. So is a pull door screen better? My toilet is not very big and I'm worried it may make the whole place looks cramped. Its $100 cheaper than the sliding one though.

Who's ur ID? My ID gave me quite a few freebies and rebates for some of the items in the packages I didnt do... -
Just an update, HDB has rectified the defects for us. Have also decided to start work on 30th April. Tmr will be going down to meet ID to view my 3D drawing. !! Have been busy looking around for furnitures recently and shortlisted the following: 1) Serta Missouri queen (best deal I found was 2890 with frame, bed bench, mattress protector, 4 pillows and 2 sheeps. Anyone has a better price elsewhere?) 2) Sofa + free replacement cover from Sofaalab (only 788 if we take delivery 5 months from order date! Very cheap cos it comes with extra covers too! 16 colors to choose from) Anyone bought from sofaalab before? Can see www.sofaalab.com and go to their showroom near IMM. The real thing in the showroom looks much better than the picture and the quality is definitely worth it for $788. !!

Think in their package the total bathroom size is limited to 380 sqft. Maybe urs is bigger than that?? For mine I took the resale package (though mine is new flat) and there was no additional charges cos I think my bathrooms not so big. Anyway you can try to bargain with them to waive it off... -

Thats the way it was for me. I told him the effects I want and we went to choose tiles together. He should advise you on the tiles to choose according to your preferred theme. After that, the 3D drawing will be done according to the tiles chosen. Anyway I'm gng to view my drawing this weekend -
You gave me away! Now cant ask for more free gifts liao But seriously i cant ask for more since what he give me is already a lot... Better let him make some...
-
Thats very cheap... Lucky you I tried to do the same but they refused to do it saying that my kitchen and toilets were retiled by their contractor prior to us taking the keys. But as you can see from the pics, the colours were ugly... So had to fork out $$$ to hack and retile the place...

Hacking package cost me about 10K. It includes hacking both toilet walls and floor, kitchen walls and floor and replacement of all pipes to copper pipe. There're also things like labour to install heater, sink, WC etc. Plus I get a free mitsubishi starmex sys 3 aircon with the package.

Yours is an EA? Is it the same as my layout? You can see my t-blog for my layout. I'm hacking the study area and comining it with my dining/living area. Then one of the rooms will be used as study instead. Initially wanted a glass study like yours but in the end decided to cut cost. Another reason why I gave up the glass study idea was to make the entire living/dining area more airy. With the glass, the wind will still be blocked. -

Thats why I say we cannot judge whether a quote is exp or cheap based only on the final price. The content is the most impt. So are u gng to do all these in the end? So darenelle, is your amt of work similiar to jopp? -

I can see why yours is so much higher than ours! Your requirements include so much capentry and expensive things like glass wall, glass doors etc... Glass is expensive so I only did a glass shower screen w/sliding dr. Gave up the idea of a glass study rm. Just a tip, the more feature walls you have the more exp it will get. I didnt do any feature walls except the shelter one cos each of these easily cost about $2k... I plan to save money and buy some big nice abstract paintings to hang there, at least I can change if it gets old or I get sick of it -

Think you need to look at how much u are doing. If a lot of capentry, hacking and tiling then the prices will expectedly be higher. I got my initial quote about 45k then slowly analyze, bargain and cut down.
