Twenty7 Photography - Ad Wedding Photography Services
hobbes187 replied to Twenty7's topic in Wedding & Travel
I would like to extend a big thank you to all the couples from this forum who have met up with me over the past 2 weeks. I had a great time talking to all of you! And an even bigger thank you to those who have confirmed my services If you are still searching for an AD photographer, do take a look at my website www.Twenty7-Photography.com -
I was looking around for a beanbag recently and finally bought one today. Thought i should share my findings with everyone. After looking around I found these places selling bean bags: 1) Muji - $195 for mid size and $299 for large (all cotton material) 2) Molecule - $175 for mid size and $299-$500+ for larger sizes (mostly synthetic or nylon type material) 3) Lifebaby - $199 for small size. Forgot prices for larger size (feels like nylon material) 4) Bean bag mart - $199 for mid size. A lot of other sizes available (price is for cotton, suede will cost about $50 more) Was planning to buy the molecule one for $175 when I passed by spotlight today and decided to take a look. I read from this forum that they only sell the beans without the bag but to my surprise there were some bags on sale there as well. Most were on 50% discount selling for $25 instead of the usual 49.99 and a lot of colours and materials to choose from. I chose a suede material one which was $69.99 and was going for $25 as well. In all the beanbag cost me $25 for the bag, $22 for the interior liner and 15.99 x 4 for 4 packs of beans. Total was $111 for a suede material bag suitable for one adult which i found a very good bargain! So if anyone is interested in buying a bean bag, better head on down to spotlight to take a look

Think anyone looking for AD / ROM photography services can look my photographer at www.twenty7-photography.com They're of a more journalistic style and capture the spirit of the events in a nice candid way... Best thing is their prices are resonable... Think its less than $900 for AD shoot.

Ideal House Id

Max is easy going and not difficult to work with. My place is finally completed and i feel that throughout the entire reno phase, I can say that he has done his responsibilities well enough. Definitely never showed me any attitude or black face and always willing to rectify any problems. Design wise good enough but can improve. He may seem blur to some ppl on the first meeting though... Also can get freebies and discount more easily I was asking for discount even during the last payment. -
Yup we feel its a very good buy as well... The material is those thicker kind of fabric. Feels durable and strong but wont feel hot after sitting for some time... You should drop by their showroom to really take a closer look

Haven been logging in for a long time to check this page My ID quoted me about $38k in the initial quote excl electricals.

I got my bedframe and dining table+chairs from barang barang. My verdict from them are 1) Good quality solid wood 2) Good service 3) Timely (and I do mean really timely) delivery every time I buy from them. They SMS you 2 days before delivery and call on the delivery day to confirm the time. Whats the bad point? Price! Its more expensive than other shops but as they say, "you pay peanuts, you get monkeys" :) How I overcame the pricing issue is to buy during sales. My dining table I got at the warehouse sale (60% off), dining chairs at the member's sale (50% off) and bedframe at the national day sale (43% off) so all in all the prices becomes pretty low. Bought so much from them that now I'm a member... Think member gets 5-10% discount on top of existing discount.

I got my Missouri King $3100 2 months ago at the IMM branch. Include frame, bench, 2 lambs, 2 matteress protector and 2 pillows. Got this price after extensive bargaining and price comparison across branches. Look for Kelvin.

I have the ADT system in my place. Basic package is $40 per month for 3 yrs then the system is yours to keep. Comes with one motion sensor, one door contact sensor, one wall mount main control and 24 hrs monioring service. I bargained with them and managed to get them to throw in a home insurance with NTUC for free. Insures renovation/structure for $300k and personal belongings for $36k against fire, disaster, burglury etc... I think pretty worth it cos the insurance alone is aorth about $15 a mth if I get myself...

Samsung La40a550 Or Sony Klv40s400 ?
hobbes187 replied to florabliss's topic in Electronics & Electricals
I bought the display set during comex. Think outside selling now 2199 + 200 voucher + hifi set but I got mine 1559 + $300 voucher. The set was good as new when delivered and I confirmed in the menu that the TV was only turned on for 42hrs = 4 days of comex. -
Samsung La40a550 Or Sony Klv40s400 ?
hobbes187 replied to florabliss's topic in Electronics & Electricals
During Comex last mth, I was choosing btw Sony S400 and Samsung LA40A550 just like your current situation. Decided to get the Samsung in the end for the sleeker look and the slightly better specs. S series is sony's lowest range model while series 5 is samsungs 2nd top range so there is bound to be some differences (though samsung had since released Series 7 and 8). Now the Samsung is already mounted in my place and happy with it -
$399 also... Seems like the same one... Its not very big... Maybe it looks big in the picture?

Think we got it in furniture mall from a shop called home themes. How much did u pay?

Finally found some time to take a few photos of the latest additions to the place... This is the Sofaalabs sofa delivered last week... For $700+ for the sofa and one extra cover, we feel that its quite a bargain But the downside is you gotta wait 5 months for them to deliver so if u are thinking of buying for your new place, do it as early as possible!! You can also see the glass coffee table we got. I got a call from the shop one wk after it was delivered to ask me if i was satisfied with the quality and if there's anything that they should take note of. Thats good customer service Next is the Samsung Series 5 40" TV we got at comex. Great bargain considering the cheap cheap price that we paid for it... And finally, the dining room mirror that we ordered from the ID. We actually bought an Ikea one for $99 but it was a bit small and producing wavy reflections if u stand a bit further away so we ended up getting a refund. This one is much better both in terms of size and looks. We also finally unwrapped the barang barang table after keeping it all wrapped up throughout the reno.

I think you are in the block besides mine rite? But seems like urs is the corner unit facing the park so the layout a bit different from mine. Ur reno completing? Mine just finished finally and now waiting for all the furnitures to come in... Wanted to do the glass thingy like urs but in the end just hacked the whole wall...

Thanks! Some of my other furnitures ordered have also been delivered - sofa from sofaalabs and coffee table from home themes. I'm particularly satisfied with the sofa... We ordered it 5 months ago and took the maximum discount by taking delivery only in Sept... For $700+, the quality of the sofa is excellent. The workmanship is also good and we get a free set of replacement fabric in another colour. The coffee table we ordered feels slightly small for the sofa but i guess we'll make do with it. The delivery service of the shop could be better... The guy told me it will arrive by 4pm but I waited till 530pm before it came and no one called to inform me of the delay. Wanted to take some picturs of the house, brought my cam but forgot the SD card!!! So I will take pictures the next time I go over.

Finally after so many months of waiting, my sofa was delivered today. I'm very happy with the quality and it really seems like a bargain for $700+ for a sofa and one additional free cover. Will post pictures soon!

Almost a month since my last entry here... Been really busy adding stuff to our place Bought a Samsung Series 5 40" LCD at comex last weekend. We went down with a few shortlisted full-HD models - the Samsung Series 5 37" and 40", Series 6 40", Sony W series 40" and Panasonic 37". We prefer the 2 Samsung models more among the whole batch cos they seem the most bang for buck. The sony image quality is slightly better but sony is now using samsung panel and cost about $500 more. At comex, we weren't particularly impressed with the prices after walking the first few levels... They were offering both the Samsung models for exactly the same price I saw at courts a few days before comex and even the freebies were the same... We also realised that the 2 vendors selling Sony were not offering any fantastic prices or freebies and there werent much incentive for us to fork out the extra money for the W series. It seems the shops now know that they dont need to slash prices too much to entice ppl to buy, just another $50 or $100 voucher is enough. I was thinking that we will be leaving without buying anything when I passed by the Mustafa booth on level 6. The salesman quoted the Samsung S5 40" at $2099 + $300 voucher + home theatre system. Then he asked me if I'm interested in the display set. I was surprised they still had the display set as most of the better ones have been sold at the other booths. In the end he offered me the S5 40" display set at $1559 + $300 voucher. I grabbed it after inspecting the TV for defects. I thought it was a very good price for a Full HD 40" TV and I saved more than $500 and still got the voucher. The TV was delivered a few days ago and it was as good as new with no scratches or damage. Using the hidden menu, I confirmed that the TV was turned on for only 42hrs which was the 4 days over comex. We are very happy at this bargain

Just some comments... 1) HDB will probably NOT approve... It seems that if u add an extra level, the structure may not be designed to take the extra weight. 2) You living room ceiling is high but dont seem high enough for a loft. The lower level will feel small and cramped and the upper layer may not have standing space. a rough calculation of the height needed will be 2.1m for lower flr, 2.1m for upper flr and another 0.5m for the flooring thickness. So u need about 4.7m of height to get a comfotable living space... Is your ceiling that tall now?

Just an update... My 707 Alpines have been installed and i'm quite happy with them. The pressure is good even though i'm on the top floor and the water heats up nicely...

Met with the HDB and TC officers today and the conclusion was that they will get the contractors to redo the water proofing on the rooftop area above the affected room. Apparently every block is under warranty for 10 yrs from the contractors who built it and the TC incur no cost if they get them to rectify defects within the 10 yrs. The officer said even after 10yrs, if the problem surfaced again, the TC will bear the cost since the roof is under their responsibility. It went much smoother than expected as they agreed to rectify the fault quite readily and didnt push away responsibility. Also, I was told by my ID that the case 2 months ago of the 2nd flr flat being flooded due to our washing has been reopened!! Apparently, the TC insurers did not compensate them the cost of the damaged lights as it was decided that the TC was not at fault. The owners have ordered their contractor to stop work since that day and their reno have been at a standstill for a few months. Now they have gone back to HDB and seems to want compensation from either his own contractor or my ID... Heard that they even went to the MP to write to HDB and TC... I can understand their frustrations but I think since HDB and TC are refusing to pay despite the MP letters and there are no conclusive evidence who is at fault, its a hard case for them to fight. Maybe their contractor will end up paying them since he was the one who put everything in the balcony (I wonder why he didnt lock them in the shelter)

I emailed them thru the myHDB site but they called me up instead of replying by emails... Maybe they dont want anything down in BnW. Think they getting smarter too!

HDB officer just called me to make arrangement to meet up with him and the TC officer to assess the seepage problem. Anyone has previous experience on this? How can I force HDB to redo the waterproofing on the rooftop and the external walls? I'm worried they will brush it off since the seepage may not be as obvious on the day they view as it may have dried up somewhat...
