Congrats to Liana & hubby! Today's the big day, can hear the drumming and singing from my unit. Coincidentally another neighbour on my floor is also celebrating their wedding! All the best for a long & happy marriage!

Can only do Mon evening... Not discovered very good ones yet. I tried TP West > Macritchie, not too bad. Also Braddell > Macritchie, not nice. Thinking of trying Bishan Rd > Bishan Pk.
-
Oh dear. So doesn't make much difference which floor you are... Guess it's part of the HDB Experience. And me... Or else if anyone wants to go jogging (we can run to e.g. Macritchie thru TP West) can team up.

Not sure if anyone else like me is disturbed by loud noises at night (my unit is low-floor)? Last night there were 2 men at the rubbish/sand area where there is a debris container. They were hitting tiles into pieces, donno for wat. So loud, past 10pm.

Thanks. Yes, that explains why our annual value is the same but the tax required differs. BTW I oso kena theft. My wife's bicycle is locked outside our unit, and the bell got stolen. I also thought I noticed some new cuts on the bicycle lock's cable. There must be some 'free' people going around. One of the current 'innovative ideas' is to use fishing rods to steal things. So be aware if you leave your front door open.

BTW I just got a letter from IRAS saying my property's (4-rm) annual value is $7500 (for property tax). Anyone else got the same figure?

Today was 79B's turn for power supply disruption. According to notice in lift, 10am-4pm, but actually only went off at 2pm in my flat, for only half an hour.

Thanks! Still working on the look. Yes, I also did the same as you - realised that suitable furniture would be costly - and decided to make do. My table is also extendable (4-8 ppl). Taking things one step at a time so I don't make big style errors. Besides, not easy to find things that go together. Still, better to slowly try little touches here & there than make do with things that are 'too safe' and thus bland, in my view. -
Hi ppl. Sorry been MIA lately. Busy moving in and at first didn't have Internet. Now got Starhub mobile broadband. Posted latest pics of my messy flat at my t-blog. If anyone wants to come looksee do gimme a call/SMS kay. Still slowly drilling here, packing there...

Whew! Finally moved in, still quite messy and doing DIY like putting up curtain rails/rods myself and with my dad's help. Here are latest photos of the mishmash: Son's room with all his barang-barang: My wardrobe with the hidden open hanging area at left: Study still littered with boxes of junk: The very sparse living room wall which I hope/dream of wallpapering and hanging a mirror onto: Another view, showing the lighting, curtains (and a lot of clutter!) C-shaped kitchen countertop - a multi-purpose breakfast/cooking/laundry room -
Have some boxes if anyone wants. Those who are on the contact list can SMS me - cuz I don't have Internet access yet! BTW, someone mentioned that Starhub is conducting another round of activation 2nd-6th. Any details yet?

Mine low floor lah. Cannot see anything. When I went to choose, basically only left low floors for all 90sqm units. I guess for 79B, it's either face the pavilion & playground or the car park. For 79D, it's either the car park or the playground... Maybe I should have chosen 79D cos the low floors are shielded by the car park. Oh well, at least I'm (just a little bit) nearer the interchange. Actually now I think I prefer being shielded from the sun more than being 2 blocks nearer the MRT. But too late.
-
Yesterday I was at my flat. Realised 1 thing I regret about choosing my unit: kena afternoon sun. I should have chosen 79D, unit 47 if I recall right. Referring to low floors only - 79D is well shielded from the afternoon sun. Oh well, I just hope it will be shielded a bit during other parts of the year by those tall blocks across Lor 2.

You can also read some of the more detailed reno blogs done by others (not mine). I think that can give you some idea too. Just realised it's a PH. Maybe you can see if a house-hop is possible...

will be there this afternoon. SMS if you are around. -
My carpentry coming up. Going down this afternoon 4pm+-. Anyone want to kaypoh welcome but I think it'll be very dusty & messy.
-
I had a problem too. The bolt on my door was stiff and went into the door frame (it's spring-loaded). I had to poke the locking bolt until it came out. Then it could lock OK.

For which one Mapleleaf? Photos or cycling? Too bad I couldn't join in the last house-hopping. Was only at my flat for a short while in the morning. There's not much progress in my flat so far so not much to show you all. But this week a lot of carpentry should be going up - I hope! After that there will be more things for all to see. Unfortunately this Sat afternoon I'll be busy.

Carpentry has begun. The study is almost finished: This designer/contractor's style is clean & smooth, not really fitting the style I'm looking for. Oh well, what to do? I guess I'll have to use accessories and other things to alter the 'look'. -
I disagree with the way some ppl are criticising the police as if they are all 'one kind'. I don't think there's a real understanding of the SPF shown. There are some 'bad eggs' but that doesn't make them all wayang or incompetent or bo chap. And the fact that they don't walk along the 40 storeys of our 5 blocks as well as the other hundreds of blocks isn't because they are simply too lazy to walk. Ideally we would have enough policemen to patrol everywhere frequently and nab teen vandals and slipper/bicycle/doorbell thieves but I wonder if that is a realistic expectation. If they are being sent to look out for that fella from Whitley as well as do their normal work of course we can still ask them to chase students at the sky garden - it's still their job... but don't expect to see long queues at the police recruitment centre.
-
Sorry I'm not into MJ or bowling... but I like cycling... Anyway a while back some ppl were asking about the edges of cabinet doors. Well today I saw mine for the very first time, not even installed (carpentry just started). So here's what mine look like: Another photo just for seeseelooklook: the view from the sky garden I also like taking photos...

I just got a Klippan sofa and a Poang chair this weekend at a discount. Very far from the antiques my mum has but what to do? $195 for the sofa and $119 for the chair, I think combined would still be less than what one cupboard is worth... -

My mum asked me to take photos of some old furniture - a wardrobe and 2 glass-door cupboards. She wants to send them to Christie's, to inquire if they have value for sale... Why didn't she offer them to me? They're not THAT valuable. I would've willingly paid her something for them, especially the wardrobe. Now I've already ordered built-in wardrobes, even if I ask her for them... :-S
