  1. I have a beautiful pink silk bedsheet, but its in cold storage. everything slides off, u get bad backache and neck aches as the pillows keep moving all over the place. disturbed sleep as you rearrange your position/posture/pillows... and if you're like me... snack a little before bed time... you'll regret it. It absorbs oil from ur potato chips, a small potato chip on your silk bedsheet will look like u dropped a big blot of oil and it stays for a long time. Need to send to dry cleaning too..! too much maintenance for bedsheets.. i give up
  2. I use a very old "Princess" steamer bought many years ago. Not very good with handling conventional irons, I was 'toasting' shirts, and leaving black shiny marks on skirts and my dresses were too expensive for me to burn.... thought I'll try a basic model. it's good with light materials like Chiffon, silk, cotton but not fantastic with denim. I used it to steam my hubby's work clothes but not all of the shirts turn out well. The G2000 Black Label type of shirts ( a slightly softer/shiny material) usually 'respond' well. but some of his other tailored shirts could have been better. It takes alot of practise to perfect it, I think it's fuss free and easy to use. there's a brand that has a metal plate at the handle of the steamer, it's pretty heavy if you're steaming alot of clothes together, may not be a good idea. Also, I like to use it to steam my sofa, carpet etc If u're not fussy, Princess is a good basic model. no rusting yet although I use it everyday for 1-2 pieces each time.
  3. I've seen maids do all sorts of stunts just to clean windows, and I'm getting a part-time domestic helper with my place. I don't want to endanger her life, so wondering if you guys have some good tips to share? Any type of device that can help? I had a magnetic cleaner for my fish tank when I was younger, you run this little magnetic plate outside the tank, and inside there's a cleaner that sticks on. Is there someting similar for windows?
  4. erm i'm using LG washer now. only 1 yr old given to me. and last owner always not in town so seldom used. use Economy mode in the morning b4 i left for work, when i came home at 10pm still washing!!! and can't spin properly. waiting for the LG technician to come in. also bought LG fridge. brandnew, tried to adjust the temperature in the freezer.. the whole thing fell into the back of the fridge, now there's a gap and i can't adjust the temperature?!?! goodness.. both very pretty on the outside... but... hiyo.. let's see their service recovery
  5. HI tingshen > thx for the offer, think i'll pass. managed to get an offer off amazon. Citibank charges 1.39 as exchange rate... tsk tsk... so high now just waiting for vpost to revert on shipping. Didn't noe abt comgateway.. should have asked in this forum ... shucks. thx anyway
  6. ordered a sofa & day bed for my parent's place. Delivered a Blue sofa with brown day bed.... we told the delivery guy we ordered both in black, but they insisted it was the correct colour.. anyway.. it's been rectified after 3 wks of making noise..
  7. Hi Guys, I have a contact who wants to sell me a Roomba 560 ( brand new) for $700. saw at Irobot website : $349 USD X 1.38 = $481 SGD ( Assume credit card charges 1.38) Vpost shipping = $150 ( based on my friend's own import cost the last time) total cost : $631 do you think I should just let him earn the $70 for all the hassle? I actually tried to order fr Irobot direct but they only accepted US credit cards, vpost conceirge & others charge abt 5% of purchase price. any comments on this? I'm not an ebay fan & no paypal.
  8. just to share, i brought my dog to my new place. and he pee-ed at some corner. We didn't realise until the next day we came. After cleaning off the pee, there was a major yellow patch on our marble flooring... unfortunately.. not able to remove.
  9. okie thanks! will try out Sia huat.
  10. wait till it's ur turn... u see if u'll get from fairprice ( if they carry any in the first place!) haha... a friend of mine bought some wonder plate from Tangs if I'm not wrong... apparently it's ultra light weight, but crack resistant or something like that.. of course I wouldn't dare try ... but it sure looks expensive! yup.. it's probably those 'tai-tai' plates... plate 10 times more expensive than the food on it... how to eat????
  11. anyone can help? looking for nice plates/bowls at reasonable prices. Anything besides Ikea?
  12. altho i'm having alot of problems with my ID for the handover of my hse, we didn't hav much problems with extra costs. He added in our contract the items which were 'Optional" then it was up to us if we wanted to do it. Most of the other extra costs were becos we wanted to change location of basin, add shower screen etc ... so for that, I'm quite thankful. but then again, I've yet to get my hse ready to move in... lights I sourced myself, recommended to Citi Lights. quite nice Bathroom accessories also sourced from afew places. guess it's true that IDs do affect the pricing, so it's really up to us to see if we can reduce some costs by taking charge of the things ourselves.
  13. Can someone help me? Trying to order from Irobot USA website. however it keeps prompting me that my billing address is incorrectly completed. They needed the billing address to be the same as your credit card address & once we key in our singapore postal code with no city/state, the transaction cannot go through. how did you guys manage this? PM me pls
  14. looking for a nice dresser for my walk in wardrobe. have been really unsuccessful... anyone saw anything interesting?
  15. same lights! Citi Lights @ Jln Besar rite! haha.. i quite like them, bought all my lightings from them , will update my site when everything is up.
  16. the various quotes i got from IDs were about 200 - 280 per foot run. so if take minimum , 18ft will be about $3600. but no glass sliding door. but their glass sliding door is full height leh , and my wardobe now covers the full wall, it becomes like a feature in the room. Good.... ??? I duno.. not installed yet. haha so i'll have to update you on that. anyway, if they don't do a good job, or if it's bad quality, i'm very sure i'll share with you guys. oh, i forgot to add, i was told they drill the boards directly onto the wall, so you won't have a piece of flimsy plywood behind. some prefer the normal cupboard backing, so i guess its really personal preference.
  17. precisely! i was comtemplating the Ikea wardrobe. 236cm height, but they were all out of stock and no definite date for the sliding doors. couldn't find other wardrobes that were cheaper. somemore they giving me full mirror doors, instead of glass or half mirror etc. tink quite worth it. but let's see how it goes, guinea pig here .. haha
  18. if you can take Morris's hard sell tactics then try. I was stuck there for a long time. was trying to sell me some package which includes sofa, bed, matress , wardrobe... lots of things, but not cheap. I almost gave in, but becos some of the products we had to 'order' based on pictures, and you don't get to see the actual product to assess the quality. Not very comfortable with that. also, the sales person doesn't really know what is on sale. Best to bring the newspaper clipping along, as it shows photo with the price. We were quoted higher price than the clippings and had to go back to the car to take the pics/pricing b4 they amended the quotes. so happy shopping tink the guy i spoke to was jason & the manager if i'm not wrong.
  19. I just bought some lights from Citilights at Jln Besar, they were recommended by my friend who also bought from them. Their retail price looks similar to Vlux ( which I find a little above my budget) and some other shops, but after the discounts, we managed to get them much cheaper. Lights not delivered to my place yet, will take some pics to show on my blog when they arrive. I still think I got a good buy, considering I'm taking about 25 PLC, and some other not-so-normal looking lights , including slide glass ceiling lights. Service was relatively good, the sales-person was able to grasp my concept of my hse and able to recommend some lights to fit in. Spoke to Alan, they're at 249/251 Jln Besar ( printed on receipt)
  20. oh by the way, the person who came to take measurements was supposedly the boss, and he directed us back to the showroom "chief designer" whom we already spoke to. Insisted that Chief Designer will draw out the specs for us, even tho we insisted he already did a sketch, but we wanted an actual 3-d looking wardrobes with the actual slots/dimensions... very contractor type of style, not something I expected. Maybe if you guys are considering, you can ask them for specific timelines on when they will give you the 3d pictures etc...
  21. we took up a package from them, they're at furniture mall. selling point: -u can use 1 finger to move the sliding doors ( approx 40kg, full glass) - anti warp - sales person used thinner on the board, and also used lighter fluid to burn it, and it was ok - 10 yr guarantee - i can relocate it if i move hse. i was totally sold by this, however just wanted to find out more reviews on their after sales, and if u've used it before. I used one full room to do L-shape approx 18 feet. paid about 4k for everything in inclusive of sliding doors. how's the pricing? was compring with Ikea , it's also around this price or maybe more but they're out of stock and I could customise this... ur views pls
  22. I chance upon this brand Prince Bed at furniture mall. was told it's fr UK and 15 yr warrranty. It feels quite comfy. was quoted Queen 8 inch $1.3k with 2 memory foam pillows and mattress protector. any comments on the above? well apprarently, i found no info on it being from UK, and its 'official website' is not updated with the memory foam details, and stated that manufactured/distributed at Senoko Loop.... guess for 1.3k I can't expect too much... altho really love the Sealy new range fr RObinson, apparently St Regis is using this and its 2.5k
