hi .. been using bennington since 2005. model C300. 1. Installation is rather simple 2. Water pressure depends on your source. My home overall water pressure is quite low, so when water is use in common toilet or washer. The pressure in my MBR will be smaller. Maintenance wise is rather simple. The first to wear out is the shower head and the vertical shower head bar. But these are easily replaceable buying from any DIY/Hardware store. The lifespan of the heater tank has been going strong till now for me but the only problem I have is the PDFS (the device that controls the temp/pressure) It does not last more than 3 to 5 years. Both my water heat from Bennington has PDFS replacement at least once each. My common toilet is not regularly use, so when my MBR heater faulty, I change common toilet into my MBR myself. Took the faulty one to Bennington and get it service which took them less than 1 day to fix. Recently the same problem occur but this time worst, water leakage from the device and have just change the common toilet (which is repaired) back into my MBR. Noting that all these while, the water heater condition still in good condition and water temp is good and consistent. Bennington is my first brand and I thinking to use other brand. Not sure if other brand has similar issue.

Done some laminate myself before. Not too difficult to do but to do excellent trimming, really need a lot of skills and I learn through trial and errors. Singapore HDB dont have space to do larger projects....

Where To Buy Woods, Timber, Planks, Plywoods, Laminated Sheets
lorddraco replied to KayLan's topic in DIY Corner
Just note that heavy electrical stuff from Amazon are all 110v and not Universal 110 to 240v type. So .. SAW, JIG, DRILL and such .. cannot buy from Amazon. -
dont get Black and Decker .. found their quality really bad.

mm .. I dont see anyway to help this leh. Seriously very difficult to do since there isnt any space. depending on the weight, you might as well try liquid nail or some other glue stuff instead.

1) rottenramone 2) megabites 3) MichaelC 4) dinobros (if the cost is not too high) 5)70wood 6) Lorddraco (I have some other project in my mind. A cabinet to host my dry box + maybe a charging station, a bedside table...)

I am also interested. too bad I dont have contact with secondary school. Their workshop in weekend should be not use and holiday also. To find space in Singapore to do DIY is a real pain. I did mine at my kitchen toilet in dec 2009. Fixed up a shelf sitting on top of my existing ikea computer desk and a raise platform for my 40" LCD TV. A big Mess and the project take me more than a month to complete with my weekend didnt go out. For the above project.. I buy got myself the following. 1. Black and Decker Fold able workbench 2. Impact Drill 3. Bosch Handheld Router (buy wrongly .. got 110v from USA. ****) 4. B&D Sander (Home-fix) 5. B&D Jig-Saw Cause my project involved high-pressure laminates and plywood from Jalan Besar. Hindes got from Sungei Kadut shops Basically I convert my toilet into a mini workshop to drill, saw, sand etc and kitchen also in mess. I lost 4 kg when doing this project .. TOO HOT !!!

if you are drilling reinforced wall. dont get black and decker. I try using a B&W 700W, supposely more powerful to drill holes in my store-room. Takes ages .. never go deeper than 2cm. I use an nearly 20years old Bosch 400W ... it goes easily to depth I want. For really serious and heavy work. Bosch is much better in quality and power. Seems to me the B&W 700W is fake.

typically using plywood to do it. plywood is not expensive and can come in larger piece than real-solid wood like teak and etc. Woodskin, you referring to laminates, depending on the type of laminates, it is around SGD 50 per 4 ft x 8 ft piece. I just DIY an cabinet/shelf to put on top of my current ikea work table - around 63" (160cm) long and around max height 32" (81cm). The whole project uses up to 2.5 piece of laminate and cost me around no more than 300 for the material excluding the tools.

Where To Buy Woods, Timber, Planks, Plywoods, Laminated Sheets
lorddraco replied to KayLan's topic in DIY Corner
Hi .. for Formica, they dont cut accordingly. I think most supplier of laminate dont. Have to cut yourself. as for the size of the doors. I will not know how you can paste the laminates on to it. Mostly likely you have to take down the door and do it one by one. -
cool.... next project will go there!!!

I Got 2 Pcs Of Custom Cut Ply Wood - Is It Expensive?
lorddraco replied to ahwong's topic in DIY Corner
No 11 Syed Alwi Road #01-07 Teck Heng Long Ind Building Jalan Besar area! PS: very near to a very nice/shiok beef ball noodle shop. -
Jalan Besar or Sugei Kadut shop houses area have quite a few hardware shop. They sell tools/stuff cheaper than shopping center DIY or even homely hardware. Just that it is messy to look for stuff there, typically you need to know what you want. I got quite a fair bit of stuff there. In term of pricing... I rank from expensive to cheaper. 1. Home-fix/Self-Fix 2. Homely.com.sg 3. Sungei Kadut/Jalan Besar area (there also sell China Brand electrical tools) I still some of my stuff at Home-fix as I have earn sufficient point to have around 10 to 20 dollar vouncher. Depends on what you get. As for the link of the tools, donno why .. Singapore very hard to get such specialist DIY tools. e-store.com.sg is another good reference place to take a look

mmm .. I been there.. didnt see that they have the type of bench saw like what I see in Ban Heng Leong. Anyway ... I still have another project in mind, so next round I will try them. The ply I use from Ban Hen Leong is Malaysia I think, cause I got a few pieces still got rubber print stamped "Made in Malaysia" ... I think "heng sway" cause similar piece, one got a few holes at the side, the other look perfectly alright. I need some perforated metal sheet .. I one I got is not really what I wanted. Anyway 10 buck so just get it as spare first. I will be going down to Hiap Hin to take a look soon. I running behind schedule for my project le .. So far .. I got total of 3 x Laminate Sheet. Completely finish up 1. Still got a little from the 2nd and now using the 3rd. -

Hi ... I got similar size. 8.5" x 22", 3/4" thick and 4 3/4" x 16.5", 3/4" thick (Non-White backing- I donno about the price). $4 at Ban Heng Leong. But they did not drill hole for me. I am not sure if that is consider cheap or expensive cause also need to compare the quality of the ply. -

Hi Hi ... woah .. your project is so big!!! I got formica directly from Formica. I pm you their contact. (Their webby is www.formica.com.sg) Price is 48 before GST (51 plus after GST). Size of the Laminate is 4 ft x 8ft where they will roll it up for you. FYI for first timer working on laminiate - If working on laminate, I recommend to get a Giken A-650 Cutter with Tungsten Carbide Tipped Edges or alternative. The HPL is thick and not easy to cut. I figure out a while to know how to cut it. Note that the cutter also can cut floor title, so I use a unwanted wood underneath the laminates while I cut. A trimmer (Makita cheaper.. I think also got even cheaper china brand trimmer) with flush self routing straight routing bit to trim the edge. My first project workmanship not so nice.. but after some trial and error, I learn. Below is a good site that I start my learning.. Dowel wooden rod is good to align the laminate before sticking it. http://alsnetbiz.com/homeimprovement/formica.html BTW .. where you get the aluminium angle ??? -
Kitchen Cabinet Doors Self Fix - Where To Get Those...
lorddraco replied to ahwong's topic in DIY Corner
ABS trimming is definitely factory done. Requires heat in some cases as far as I know. I have asked my contractor before and they pre-fabricate it in factory before bring into my house to fixed it up. For non-ABS trimming, I saw them do on the stop. For surface, I checked that laminates are not excellent for spray paint, ink or etc to stick on them. So the result may not be excellent for your information. Plus after spray the color, you still need some protection layer on top. -
plus lighting point do not have earth point and 3-pin requires it.

Where To Buy Woods, Timber, Planks, Plywoods, Laminated Sheets
lorddraco replied to KayLan's topic in DIY Corner
I do admit that the quality of ply from Ban Heng leong is not as consistent as I wanted. The many piece of cut I got, some is really nice and good quality. Some is really not as good and I have to use wood putty to fill up gaps before sticking with laminate.
