We balloted for the flat last year and it's like striking lottery, we actually managed to get a 4 room flat in Jalan Membina! Although my preferred choice is Toa Payoh, I think Jalan Membina would also be a nice place to stay in cuz it's convenient... In the end, we choose a unit facing the road and mid-level after much consideration... It was quite memorable to collect the keys on 14 Feb, which was also Valentine's day and so coincidence that it was my company's orientation for newbies like me... Shocked to see the whole bunch of keys after signing watever paper that was presented to us... (expecting to see 2 keys only) We actually rushed over to our place right after collecting the keys... The place just look like any other unrenovated flats posted on this forum... At that point, I still can't believe that I bought a flat. Is that a dream? Did a quick check on that day and went back on a Saturday to check the defects. It was tiring and certainly very disappointing to see so many defects. My first thoughts were "Aren't these flats supposed to be new? Now haven even move in, already spoilt? Spent so much money on a defect-ful flat?" That's all for my first entry! Will update pics once I go and find out how to post pics... hahaha *gotta wake up 6am for work tomorrow*

we also collected our keys on 14 feb! maybe i saw you in hdb hub... hahaha most imptly u must be comfortable with ur id, can communicate well... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- maybe we should have a poll to see storage heater or instant heater is better... at my own place now, i am using instant heater, but i feel tt the heater does not heat up enuff, need to turn on really hot to get hot water? for storage heater, need to wait for ten minutes or so.... but after waiting, u can make it as hot as u wan isn't it? personally i vote for storage heater though... instant heater, u cant get hot water from tap? den if weather is very cold, wash face also feel very cold...

oh no! so sorry angel for the late reply... just changed jobs last yr dec... honeymoon is finally over and everyday working very hard... seems to be working longer and longer hours... i am from 25B too! my bf had just signed up with the ID yday... how's your hunt so far? we decided on tis company cuz the contractor is one of my bf's relatives... dun worry about moving in later... cuz we are so far on the same pace ya... haha come to think of it, i nvr bought anything for my house yet... as in big stuffs... last year went to japan after i quit previous job... travelling makes ppl buy on impulse... bought super cute cutlery from osaka kaiyukan... they have spoons and forks in the shape of marine creatures... really liked them very much... bought a few small little paintings size of A5 exercise book in nara, cheerful lil pics... and a soap dispenser from universal studio with elmo n family in it... haha still resisting the temptation to buy electronics and stuffs... still not sure abt which brand to buy also.... heard tt IT fair coming wor... maybe wait till tt time den get my stuffs... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- it has been raining heavily these days... kinda worried about my hse now after reading so many replies on forum... somemore i am staying and working so far fr jalan membina... hope the office in 27B can quickly rectify if there's any probs... afterall we paid so much for the flat... hope they will not be so irresponsible...

so good... i haven even finished discussing the details of reno and everyone is busy renovating already... does anyone know when will the lights be turned on for 25B corridors? actually i find tt the corridors are dim enough on a bright sunny day... brought my parents to my house for a tour around 730pm... was using my hp to light up the corridor and all around my house... hahaha

Hi all JM neighbours! I have finally collected the keys on V day... *phew* and i really got a big shock when i saw the whole pack of keys... i thought it was for all the units on the same floor till the auntie looked at me and say "it's all yours!" guess most of you have already moved in... do keep us informed of the latest happenings there... i.e. coffeeshops and delicious food around there... haha think for now i can only pop by once a wk... ________________________________________________________________________________________ About the dirty grout lines, my mum always buy white paint to paint the grout lines in the living room and bedrooms... but cuz our flat is those type of olden type where the lines are wider... guess we cant do anything much about the homo tiles in new flats... as for toilet, i absolutely hate the grout lines cuz toilet being a wet environment tends to grow mold and watever nonsense very fast! I just scrub with a hard brush and cif whenever i cannot standing looking at the floor... good exercise!

hey simpleboi, thanks for ur reply... we are trying to work it out (debating side or front wall) still cuz haven even get the keys... most prob will also put it at the side... looks like ur trolley is very popular... heehee

hi simple boi, can i ask where did u put ur shoe cabinet cuz i cant really see from the pic... its not at the wall facing the main door but at the side correct? does the full height shoe cabinet make the living n dining area look smaller? i am thinking of putting the shoe cabinet at the side cuz i dun wan the shoe cabinet to be facing the main door...

Looks like the forum is full of young people! i am also in the range 25 to 30... went down with ravenski to 25B... one lift is already operational and the staircases are not locked anymore... i even took the lift up to my level... attempted to open the door without keys... but i realised tt the kitchen area is indeed quite dark... i wonder will the clothes dry anot? cuz i went in the evening, very hard to judge ar... :s are other blocks also facing this dark-kitchen-problem? have been considering whether to get a dryer anot... hope 25B will get the keys soon!

hi... wanna ask about the HDB housing loan as well... cuz i have quitted my job last september... now we need to resubmit the payslips again rite? but i just started a new job... so i can only produce 2 mths payslips... will it in anyway affect the application status of the loan?

Hi everyone... this seems to be the hottest neighbourhood forum... already 108 pages... dunno where to start reading it... i am from 25B... still sourcing for ID and haven gotten keys... its great to have a forum like this for newbies to learn more about renovation...

You mean doing up the whole house with traditional japanese theme? but doesn't that mean you have to hack down all the walls? basically the houses are divided by the thin sliding paper screen... i think for bedroom wise, to make it a Japanese theme, you can have tatami for flooring and you will need a sliding cupboard at the side to keep your futon? watch more japanese drama for inspiration... will be interested in your completed houses... post your pics when your renovation is complete?
