good progress. glad that jason's able to keep to his schedule. btw, you may want to consider asking the tilers to do rounded corners for you as the right-angled corners can be quite damaging to the feet (both to adults and childern). Same goes to the kerb (if you intend to do one between the kitchen and hall area). Consider a hump rather than a drop-off.

yup, been busy with work .... the touch-ups are so so ... i also gave up calling Uncle liao ... cuz I don't want to repeat my list of things to be done 5 times ... Hi Gaku, Yes, i paid in full because uncle has delivered everything. That's his argument when he chase for payment. Anyway, as a lesson learnt, never pay in full until everything is done to your satisfaction. I'm regretting making full payment after Uncle told me that he will do the rectification after that ....

Hi gaku, i know how you felt. My journey was also not very smooth and up till now, uncle still have not come over to do the rectifications. It's not easy to work with a contractor like uncle if you have a tight deadline because he's sure to miss it

There are 2 groups of Malays ... now maybe more ... The group of 3 that painted my place was quite good (for the price i'm paying). However, they can sometimes overlook some small areas ... so you need to check very thoroughly e.g. underneath trunkings, in between window grilles, etc ...

Yes Lawry, I totally agree. In my sad carpentry case, it appears that my carpenter sub-con is going to foot the bill because I don't think he dared to ask Uncle to pay for the rectification as it's an obvious case of sub-standard work. I may be wrong though ... but this is just my gut feel ... It's the time wasted in doing rectification that's really frustrating ...

This statement from you would definitely not be a sweeping statement For me, Uncle did tell my carpenter (who is the same one aubrey's using) to rectify all the unsatisfactory works. They did try their best and we just tried to overlook some areas that they really have to dismount the entire cabinet if we were to insist that they rectify. Bottom line is that Uncle is no nonsense when it comes to quality. He would even go to the extent to sack the sub-con / worker if they really sc*ew up their assigned tasks ... Think the carpenter who did my place and aubrey's would no longer have any jobs from Uncle ...

ah mei tasted rectification works at my place from noon till 9pm yesterday... He looked in disbelief when I managed to point out more areas for him to rectify ... I think Ah Mei surrendered .... Basically, he's not up to standard ... Uncle called him up to ask him whether he can finish (because Uncle promised to complete all carpentry works by yesterday) ... but he told him he had accidentally damaged my drawer rails in the process ... There was also 1 door where the ABS trimming is really in a bad shape at one side .. and they left a dent in the laminate because they mounted 1 door wrongly. I told him to change both. Think from now onwards, he will have no more jobs from Uncle... whoever is the bukit batok person ... you're lucky ! cuz Ah Mei was supposed to go to your place for the carpentry and Uncle told him not to go as he's not confident of him delivering a satisfactory product !

Yup ivy, he was at my place with a fat guy installing the stainless steel backing for my kitchen. My wifey said that he was on the line almost all the time during the process .... haha ...
