Don't forget still got $110 TV licence to contribute to MDA for MediaCrap's rubbish hor! Our abangs up North have long done away with this medieval tax... Malaysia Boleh!

IMHO... I don't think MIO TV is worth it if it's movies you're looking for... The connection is not very stable, keeps hanging and freezing from what I experienced at a friend's place. Then you got to keep restarting the modem or the MIO box. Starhub Movie channel... unless you don't mind watching "edited" movies. Just get a good broadband connection and you'll have the world of movies at your mouse click *wink* *wink* And I'm not talking about YouTube or Bit Torrent stuff

Maybe many will be tired after taking the complete 79 experience round the 5 blocks and up and down 40 storeys? LOL Saw a few of them non-local masseur ladies sitting infront of the shops... reminds me of "those" massage parlours in People's Park. Except for the touting part, otherwise jialat liao!

LOL! Merc driver again! Not say I mouth bad but I detest most Merc, Lexus & BMW drivers. The worst of the lot are the Merc idiots! I'm sure most of you who drives will agree... 9 out of 10 Merc drivers think they own the bloody roads & LTA! And they have no sense of driving skills either! I suspect the driver of this Merc could be from one of the shops below blk 79... suspect only. Cos never seen the car parked there at night. E-Class only think he owns the road... ha!

The chicken rice stall in our foodcourt was quite ok. $2.50 the quantity quite alot. Standard ok so-so, nothing to shout about. I guess all these stall holders kena killed by the rental and landlords. The CCTV in our beloved sky garden are not monitored 'live'. Only when something happens then they'll come and download the video to review. So even when a real crime is committed, don't expect them to take 'immediate' action. You die your own business. Better to be on guard when walking there at night. It acts more as a deterrent to those would-be trouble makers. Though some non-chinese may still hang around the sky garden drinking Jack Daniel without any clothes on. Proudly showing off their 'fierce' ang-kong. Seen this group a few times before the CCTVs were installed. Littering the table and floor with plastic cups and cigarette butts. Nothing much the authorities can do, unless they go to extreme and create trouble or vandalise or disturb the residents. The scene is much better now after the installation of the CCTVs. No more grafitti on the walls, and fewer suspicious characters loitering at night. Mostly students and couples. Noticed they also installed some big signages on the sky garden. Indicating "79A" to "79E" in bright orange. Well at least they still have some money left after the failed investments to install these signages!

IMHO, I think the X'mas lighting decor over at TPY Central is visually much better looking than the pathetic eye sore in Orchard Road! Uniquely Sinkapore indeed!

In times of despair and desperation... it's always good to have a laugh... at our overpaid but under performing Gahmen! The Mr Brown Show - You Are Not Alone YOU ARE NOT ALONE (SINGAPORE ECONOMY EDITION) Economy contract You just might get the sack Your leaders understand Because we are your friend Recession has arrived And salaries will dive Don't worry, we're in charge We make a million bucks Everybody thinks we make too much And we are out of touch But from the bottom of our gahmen hearts we say You are not alone The Gahmen's here with you Though our incomes far apart We also take pay cut You are not alone Ministers suffer too Every month could buy S-Class Now can only buy E-Class You are not alone If you're retrenched I'll scold your company And ask them why they never care Like we care You are not alone The Gahmen's one with you Let us feel you in the dark You can feel us play your part You are not alone We'll face the storm with you Though we stay Sixth Avenue But we feel for Punggol too You are not alone The Gahmen's close to you So close we touch your heart So close we smell your fart You are not alone We are here for good When recession goes away We'll restore our pay You are not alone

Just noticed that the BKT shop is opening and closing at irregular hours. Not according to their usual business hours as advertised. Saw the entire place closed and shut by 9pm. Sold out so fast?? But frankly, they have to wake up their chef's idea if they want to stay for the long run. With that kind of miserable sub standard BKT, how to survive? I believe we can all cook better BKT with those instant A1 BKT premix from the supermarkets! They must get their BKT soup stock right and the meat of correct tenderness. Judging from the few reviews and feedback here, it seems that their BKT is not even of average standard to satisfy the most basic of tastebuds.

Went to try it out on Wednesday with Meowie & Babymaro... like what Congee said, so-so only. In fact, for that kind of price, not really worth it. The bill for the 3 of us came up to $37+ after a special promo 10% discount. The Herbal BKT is $9.80 per bowl. Normal BKT is I think $6+. The meat was miserable, only scraps of meat and plenty of bone, way too much. Maybe should have requested for the ribs portion instead. The meat wasn't the kind of tender & "slide off the bone" type I was expecting. It was a tad tough and dry! Overcooked?? But the let down part was the soup base. It was simply too bland. Maybe I'm used to the more "power" type of BKT, not peppery but with kick. But it just didn't taste like a herbal BKT soup at all. More like some kind of pork bone soup with a slight wolfberry after-taste. Every time I have a good BKT meal, I will be pespiring when I'm done. You know that sweaty but shiok feeling of a good meal? No such thing here. Maybe the aircon was too powerful??? Service staff mostly PRC helped out by some family members, including some very young kids. Surprisingly, the place was almost packed that night??! I guess it's more of a restaurant setting with restaurant prices. 10% service charge. No GST. No charges for the wet tissue, so don't need to return back to them. But frankly, with this standard of BKT, even selling it at $3.50 in a non-airconditioned kopitiam, I'd rather eat something else! So, that will be my first and last time there. I still prefer the Herbal BKT over at Alexandra Village. That one you can really taste the "gau kee" (wolfberry) and herbs. Maybe some may find the taste to their liking. One man's bak kut teh is another man's mee siam mai hum.

Sinkieland's Customer Service standard has always been at such pathetic level. They're just aping the level of service in our gahmen civil service, plenty of beautiful tai-chi moves. Maybe you want to try the uncle opposite our flats, near to the Tree Temple? He sells OEM remote controls for various electronic equipments, from TV to aircons, etc. He has this makeshift table displaying a variety of remote controllers. I think cheaper and may save you the torture of going back to Samsung! Just not too sure if he has remotes for the newer TV models though??

This FT is fiery hot! Zoe Tay beware! You're going to be dethroned soon. I meant fiery hot in the temperamental kind of sense. She's known to be a diva on set. Then she's also not as high-class and well-mannered as you think she is. You can bring the girl out of the kampong, but you can't bring the kampong out of the girl. So next election, our PM may enlist her to be part of his contingent since she's now part of the AMK community?? The Curse of the Golden Talent?? The article smaller than A4, so still can fit in scanner. If bigger, can always split and scan separately then use Photoshop join loh.

I think all these jumpers are part and parcel of having sky scraping flats in Sinkieland. I doubt the police or authorities can do much to prevent these suicides from happening. Even if they have CCTVs installed, it will be too late by the time help is here. Probably hundred of suicides per month in Sinkieland, but how many gets reported?? Heard from a contractor that there were already jumping cases before Central Horizon was opened to us. It was during the almost-completed days, with all the hoardings and fencing still up. Someone managed sneaked up to a high floor and jumped. Don't think it was reported in the news. The other alternative is probably to fence up or increase the height of the barricades at the sky garden. Or maybe fence up the common corridor area on the higher floors, or all floors for that matter. So that the only way these jumpers want to fly down, is to ring the doorbell of any units and request to borrow their window for a free-fall. Currently, only the lower floors have this birdy-type gate on the corridor ledge. For preventing burglars/people from climbing up & accessing the lower units i suppose.
-
I think the Pinnacle may have a different set of environmental features. Cos it's supposedly more "atas" and high class/upmarket. May even have security card access for the sky gardens? After learning the lesson from central horizon, don't you think these gahmen scholars will think of a way to prevent the same thing from happening at Pinnacle??? Otherwise, a drop from the 50th storey will be very very messy indeed.

I am also waiting to kena 4D leh... Grandfather??? Old man is sprouting nonsense these days, taking over the job of his useless son also *shakes head*. Old man said in 2007 that Sinkieland is in Golden Period you forgot meh?? Now LL take back his words. Golden Period for them only I think. Goreng Period for the common folks. First they will give the jobs to these senior folks, then down the road, they will be replaced by foreign imported "talents". Standard Operating Procedure of the gahmen. Believe with 3 pinches of salt. LOL! Donkey years ago, Grandfather also said that casinos will be built in Sinkieland over his dead body leh. So if the prophecy is true, means grandfather's time will be coming soon? 2009? 2010? Better go put my champagne in the fridge liao!

Never mind, I will check it out again when I pass by again. The linkway never break lah. But the 2 adjacent units kena decorated by blood spray loh. But pity the Indian who was passing by below and had a blood shower! The victim jumped around 5pm+ I think they have enough money to even install CCTV for every floor, let alone CCTV in the lifts! But that will leave them with less funds to play the stock market! Some flats over at Lorong 8 has got CCTV installed in lifts with the "live-feed" TV monitor on the ground floor for all to see. We are destined to be bled dry by this gahmen anyway. Upgrade or no upgrade. Be prepared for more increases now that ABC Learning is going kaput and the Marina Sands IR is in limbo awaiting the gahmen to $$bail$$ them out.
-
I think the fengshui here is still good. Heard from some old fortune teller that they tore down the old "bad fengshui" 79 and rebuilt the new 79 as a "five fingers" open palm entity. Lucky not 3 fingers like the Marina Sands IR! Which now is in limbo and may have only 1 finger ready. Hopefully not the middle one! LOL don't believe all that you read from the State Times, ranked 154th by the World Free Press and is run by ex-ISD agents.

I think have to wait long long for HDB to install card access for HDB flats man! Look at the MRT, only now then they intend to have the station stop indicator onboard the trains! When the HK MTR already had theirs donkey years ago! Sinkieland gahmen scholars only good at copying nia. I think also hard to stop these Jumpers from jumping from our flats if they'd already made up their minds. The recent 2 cases jumped from the 12th storey sky garden and 40th floor corridor respectively. Don't know why they picked our blocks also when there are quite a few blocks around us with similar height and surroundings. They will tell you already installed CCTV at the sky garden liao. What more do you want?? I suspect the CCTV is not relaying "live" video feed to the relevant people. Looks like a storage HDD CCTV to me, meaning the people will come and copy out the video feed once a while or when something happens. So for now, it only acts as a deterrent to would-be troublemakers, like a speed camera. So I foresee it will take a few more decades before they "copy" the card access concept from the HK public housing & implement it in their pigeon holes. Meanwhile, stay tuned for more freefall victims to drop by.

Read from the Chinese evening papers that it was a 26 y/o Indian lady. Had an argument with her b/f over the phone and told him she was going to jump. Don't think she was a resident here though. He rushed down but arrived too late. She jumped from the 40th floor. Landed on the covered walking linking the function hall. There was this Indian guy walking pass below at that very moment. Had his whole body/shirt splattered with blood and brain matter. The impact was so great that the 2nd level units just above the walkway had their external wall and windows splattered as well. Seems like it's getting to be a hot spot for suicide jumpers now. My advice is to avoid walking in the open area directly below corridors or common access area. Better to walk under shelter nowadays. Those with pets, try not to bring them near these few "crime scene" hot spots too since they have an acute sense of the unknown. On a side note, anyone noticed the lights have been out of order in the open area of the 12th level sky garden between 79E & 79D & 79C for the past few weeks ?? Shot an email to the BTPTC but doesn't seem like they are taking any action for the past few days. It's extremely dangerous at night to walk past that area, even though it's not enclosed but there are walls for shady characters to hide behind. Will shoot them another email again after I've confirmed that the lights are still out. Maybe not enough funds to replace the lights after losing a "small percent" of their sinking funds to the Lehman Brothers???

Can't help it lah bro... just gets on my nerve to see our country go from 3rd world to 1st and back to 3rd again at the hands of our morally corrupt gahmen! LOL Yeah I know what you mean... my champagne is chilled and ready to pop! Can't wait for karma to come and kick them in their posterior! By the way, heard from my mum who in turn read from Wan Bao about the suicide case this morning. It's a Chinese man 60+ years of age. Dressed in grey. Reckoned to have jumped from the 12th level sky garden facing North. The police found a slipper/sandal on the sky garden at the location where he leapt. He was not a resident. One of the morning cleaners went to the storeroom next to the rubbish dump to get their cleaning equipment. When he/she came out, there was a body lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Let's hope he's not one of those who lost his life-savings from the recent Lehman minibonds fiasco. Rest in peace.

This is how I feel and I believe many Sinkies feel the same way as well. Just that they prefer to keep it to themselves or amongst coffee shop gossip. For fear of being "heard" and "arrested" at 3 am and for being anti-PAP. Reminds me of Operation Cold Store way back when the Emperor was singing a different tune. Many are beginning to wake up and see the true colours of the gahmen in these trying times. Even those who were once on their side. For Sinkieland, it's always a case of wait and see what other countries are doing before jumping on the bandwagon, at times too little too late. Imagine if Sinkieland had someone like Obama... my guess is that he'll be shot down and made a bankrupt even before he could contest in the political scene. That's Meritocracy and Democracy for you! Feels more like Nepotism to me though. God bless the soul of the man/woman who jumped today. May he/she rest in peace. The loading/unloading area between 79E and 79D, the rubbish dump area. Not sure if he/she jumped from the 12th level sky garden or lower. You think those Superscale Employees will kena retrench?? Not in this lifetime! Not even when they screw up and make stupid mistakes. For them, always got reasons and excuses. It's an honest mistake! Let's move on! More good years!

Since they dare proclaim themselves as FIRST WORLD GAHMEN and FIRST DIVISION MINISTERS, drawing SUPER FIRST WORLD SALARIES, I expect nothing less than FIRST WORLD PERFORMANCE from them. Anything short of that is an embarrassment to the country and it's people. The TC should be using the surplus of money to upgrade the estate or out of goodwill, as rebates to the owners. Can you imagine the surplus collected from all the fees? Why do they need so much money? The TC is not a private company by the way. All their surpluses are tax payer's money. The thing is that they are not transparent with their accounts to the public. Just like the gahmen. How then do we know how much was lost or gained from these "investments"? It is time Sinkies wake up from their PAP-induced dreamland and realise the cold hard truth.

Town councils' sinking funds not substantially affected by financial turmoil By May Wong, Channel NewsAsia SINGAPORE : The sinking funds under all 14 PAP-managed town councils are safe and not significantly affected by the failed Lehman Brothers products. Town councils said only a small percentage of their total investments were spent on those affected products. Town councils use their individual sinking funds to carry works such as repairing damages at HDB (Housing & Development Board) common areas or maintaining an HDB elevator. Every PAP town council has between S$30 million dollars and S$150 million in their sinking funds. Under current guidelines, each town council can use 65 per cent of their sinking funds to invest in government bonds, while up to 35 per cent can be invested in other financial instruments like corporate bonds and equities. Although some of the town councils have purchased Lehman Brothers-linked products, the investments are minimal. "Maybe a couple of percentage out of the total investment portfolio (were used in those investments), so the exposure will not affect the overall investment portfolio or the sinking funds per se. There's definitely no fear that any of the PAP town councils' sinking funds will be wiped out. All the supporting PAP town councils' sinking funds are in safe hands," assured Dr Teo Ho Pin, Coordinating Chairman of the 14 PAP Town Councils. He is also the mayor of North West District. For Jurong Town Council, it has not invested in any Lehman-linked products, but explains that it only spends about 18 per cent or S$15 million of its S$84 million sinking funds in slightly riskier products. Even then, that investment guarantees the principal amount. "The position that we've taken is really to be very cautious with our investments because we're very clear that these are public funds, and therefore we decided to err on the side of being conservative in our investment policy. The public do not have to worry... there will not be enough funds in order to take care of their needs," said Jurong MP Halimah Yacob. Many agree the current financial turmoil has taught the town councils that they should further diversify their investments in the future. Going forward, town councils are expected to exercise even greater prudence when investing their sinking funds. But it's hoped that they will still be able to get up to 4 per cent of returns on their investments annually. - CNA /ls ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Assuming the most conservative 1 percent of the sinking fund is used in those investments, this will represent a loss ranging from S$300,000 to S$1.5 million dollars for ONE Town Council only. We do not know how many town councils have bought the products. “Some” can mean three, four or even ten town councils, but what we can be sure about is that the TOTAL LOSS incurred by the PAP Town Councils are definitely close to or even more than S$ 1 million dollars! How much public funds did PAP Town Councils lose in total from the failed minibond investments? You Give Your Money To Your Town Council So That It Can Play The Stock Market If Chiam See Tong had invested a single cent of the Potong Pasir sinking fund in minibonds, he would have been called irresponsible and careless. The Straits Times would be dispensing lessons on why voting for the opposition is unwise. Luckily, the town councils that lost money in minibonds were all from PAP GRCs so we are spared these lessons and we should be able move on because it is only a small matter. The town councils have been increasing conservancy charges year after year telling us that costs have risen. However, what really happened is that the sinking funds have been rising to such levels that PAP town councils get to play fund managers. I guess old habits die hard. The PAP has never felt good unless it is sitting on busloads of citizens' money - when it comes govt reserves they have to build one far larger than what is necessary even as its citizens find it hard to make ends meet as they are squeezed to contribute to the govt's coffers. So what do they do when we have such a huge pile of money around - invest like fund managers. For Temasek, we have Ho Ching who is the best in the land for the job and coincidentally the wife of our current Prime Minister. The PAP guys, they are always so humble about their fund management skills they don't really tell us what they do with the money. We occasionally hear of the highlights of their achievements such as investing in troubled western banks and regional telcos such as the one owned by Thaksin. We have been told that these funds are needed so that they can be used to help Singapore(eans?) in times of crisis. However, a large part of it is invested in stocks and real estate that will be badly hit during crisis....so how is it going to help Singapore when the funds themselves will incur heavy losses? Town councils are just mini-versions of the Singapore govt. The sinking fund is meant to provide maintenance for the housing estates with some buffer for emergencies. They are not meant to be so big that the town councils don't know what to do and put them in risky assets such as stocks and minibonds. Many families struggle to make ends meet and for many paying the conservancy charges can mean depriving the family of better food and clothing. From govt to town councils, the PAP squeezing just never ends.

Yes indeed. We must thank our First World Gahmen for the economic success of Sinkieland in spite of all the collateral damage to our social fabric and the degeneration of true Sinkie citizens. These obscenely paid CBL ministers are not helping much and neither is our useless daddy's boy PM. Opening his golden mouth weeks after the minibonds incident. The same happened with the Mas Selamat incident. I suppose he needs to sack his speech writer soon for doing such a lousy job, cos daddy always beats him to it. Though at times he may seem to be spouting rubbish as well. Expect more of such tragedies in the days to come. Maybe more after the IR opens. Knowing how they will twist, turn and change goal posts. I'll not be surprised if they let every Tom, Dick and Harry Sinkie gambler in to the casinos if they are not making enough money from the international gamblers. “Layoffs not all bad. If there are no retrenchments at all, then I worry for Singapore.” - PM Goh Chok Tong, 22nd March, 2003

We all know these leechers are in cahoots since Day One... Hong Kong gahmen is cutting their electricity charges by 3%... now, even our brother up North is cutting fuel prices! Only in Lee Inc... you'll find that anything & everything can and definitely will be inflated further by these bloodsuckers. Uniquely Sinkapore indeed! CASE??? LOL... it's another wayang body to hoodwink & "appease" the peasants when the need arises. Nothing much they will and can do anyway... don't forget who's the head of CASE. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- M'sia cuts fuel price by 6.1% Tue, Oct 14, 2008 AFP KUALA LUMPUR - MALAYSIA on Wednesday cut petrol prices by 6.1 per cent amid a fall in world oil prices. Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said the price of petrol would be cut by 15 sen to 2.30 ringgit (S$1) a litre while diesel prices would fall by 20 sen to 2.20 ringgit effective on Wednesday. It is the third time the government has cut fuel prices since a 41 percent hike in June on the back of soaring crude costs - a 3.9 per cent cut was introduced last month. The massive rise in June sparked angry street protests and calls for Abdullah to quit. The prime minister later said prices would be reviewed periodically based on the cost of oil. 'Because oil prices have fallen sharply in recent times, the government has decided to cut fuel prices to allow the masses to benefit (from) lower prices,' Mr Abdullah said in a statement. June's hike saw inflation skyrocket, with the August price index reaching a 26-year high of 8.5 per cent, driven by the escalating cost of food and fuel. Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who is mounting an aggressive challenge against Mr Abdullah's leadership, has promised to cut fuel prices substantially if he wrests power from the ruling coalition. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Singapore could face another round of inflation if companies increase wages to help workers cope with the higher cost of living…” - Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam, 9th July 2008, CNA
