  1. Hi Toppie, I've already installed both my Joven heaters but can't see any holes on the walls leh? I think the holes are hidden behind the heater liao. The only thing visible would be the electrical wiring which runs from the heater to the power point near the top of the bathroom wall (the white square box with a round thing in the center). You can either run the wiring conceal in trunking or just leave it as it is exposed. meepok
  2. Hi Tension, Yeah heard of that before too... those towel bars supposed to be stainless steel loh, but dunno what grade. I didn't think too much, cheap only buy! Even for chrome or some stainless steel items, they may discolor over time. Heard that u can clean n polish them with Cif, used to be known as Jif. Some kind of detergent cleaner thing. U can ask Fei Fei to recommend u some other storage heaters if you're not getting the instant heater. Quite a friendly and nice PRC gal. They also sell those bathroom accessories stuff in case u wanna buy. meepok
  3. Hi Meowie, hahaha ok ok... u can also bargain with her and frighten her! Wait she'll be scared of all bargain hunters from 79! Since you're at Jln Besar, you can also ask around other shops if you want loh. Mine is a very basic model only, they have some mid-higher range heaters with more functions, bells & whistles, etc. But bear in mind that those may be bigger in size. I chose the model cos of the small size and of cos the low price! good luck! meepok
  4. Hi Tension, I think could be of different material, cos they got chrome, stainless steel, etc... see until I blur also last time. If you get those whole set package will be costly, but then there may be some items which u don't need mah. IKEA selling some similar items as well, u may want take a look. I got my towel bars from IKEA, cheaper than if i were to get from these shops loh. My toilet roll holder also $21 liao, then mirror $50, towel ring $21, glass shelf $38. IKEA selling toilet roll holder and towel ring much cheaper I think, but different material. meepok Hi Tension, I think u got to decide whether u need hot water for your other tap outlets besides for bathing loh. If u need then better to get those main storage or instant heater, usually installed in the kitchen. But then, sometimes have to wait for water to get hot before can bathe, or must wait for the cold water in tap to flow finish before the hot water comes thru, etc. Pros and cons for both. For myself, all my life I've been so used to not having hot water in the normal taps, just hot water for bathing only. So the storage/instant heater thing never crossed my mind loh. meepok
  5. Hi Tension, Good, then they will install the heater for you, incl the electrical wiring. They quote u for 1 or 2 heater installation? You going to install in both bathrooms or just 1 only?? As for your kitchen tap... will u be installing any other storage/instant heater besides this instant shower heater in the bathroom?? If not, that means you'll only have hot water when u bathe & normal temp/cold water for all other taps in kitchen, wash basin, etc. In that case, you will not need a hot/cold tap for kitchen liao. Just a normal cheaper long neck tap will do fine. Can exchange? meepok
  6. Hi meowie, "Press temperature"??? u mean like press button type? Sorry ah, I very suaku, all my life using knob ones loh... hahaha I got mine from Poh Joo at Jln Besar (www.pohjoo.com/contacts.html) U can look for this young lady Fei Fei, tell her you were recommended by the "always-ask-for-discount-tall-guy" and ask her for a good price. If she quote u less than $98, let me know... then I'll "pay her a visit" soon! meepok
  7. Hi Tension, I got mine from Poh Joo@Jln Besar at $98 each, plus u need get an extra hose to connect to the shower tap pipe, the sales people will advise u accordingly, not to worry. My ID actually included the 2 instant heater installation in the cost already, so don't need pay extra. Did your ID quote you for this in the contract? I think it's better to install a new one, since your old heater almost 4 yrs liao, remove and install quite troublesome also. If ID included the heater installation then he may charge you for the removal of the old one liao. Not worth. Joven not bad, been using many years already... very happy with instant heaters that's why never crossed my mind to get those storage heater things. But of cos, you don't get hot water in all your taps loh! meepok
  8. Hi Tension, Haven't used it yet, but as I was telling Meowie, it's hot enough for cold days based on a similar no-frills Joven I'm using at my current place loh. I got it from Poh Joo at Jln Besar, but should be around the same price elsewhere too. They have slightly higher end models if you want, got digital temp display some more! But of cos more expensive liao. These type of instant heaters get hot pretty fast, less than half a minute if I'm not wrong. meepok
  9. Hi Meowie, Actually hor... my heater haven't connect electricity so can't bathe and tell u yet! But I'm using a similar Joven heater in my current place and it seems hot enough leh... cos they got the temperature knob can control the hotness of the water mah... think even got a water flow knob to control the power of the water flow... on cold nites, I just turn the temp to max loh... and on hot days, I may even turn off the power! I think depends on how hot u need the water to be... as long as not boiling hot can liao! meepok
  10. Hi Hana, Then I think it's different from mine liao... have u powered on the hood to test it and see where the air vents out from? I got a feeling for yours, the air will vent out from the uncovered front top exit holes. As for the larger hole, better to check manual and see what's that for! Cos mine don't have any small exits except for that big hole on top. It's still best to power it on and test the flow for the air vents. meepok
  11. Hi Tension, Oh ok... then should be similar to what we got... I'm using Joven... very small, basic no-frills model, cost $98. Got 2 sets for both bathrooms. Not too sure about the CityGas free heater though... The one I'm using runs on electricity. meepok
  12. Do you mean those single unit instant heater (Joven, 707) placed inside every bathroom or those bigger sized units placed either in kitchen or one of the bathrooms??? Abit confused liao... storage heaters, instant heaters, etc. She saw it this evening, so I guess should be still around tomorrow???
  13. Hi Tension, Heard from Babymaro that there's a roadshow on these toilet over-spray things at HDB Hub atrium. Cost is about $500 upwards per bathroom I think. meepok
  14. Welcome Hana! Not sure if it helps, mine's a Teka and my contractor installed it this way... the air vents out from the small opening on both sides of the hood, as well as the bottom-front of the cabinet doors. No choice, the other alternative is to build an internal concealed chimney upwards, cut a hole at the top of the cabinet and use a plastic grill to cover the air vent exit. Toyogo's quite near the Subaru showroom, along the same road. TOYOGO SHOWROOM BLK 11 TOA PAYOH IND, PARK, LOR 8 #01-1207, SINGAPORE 319063 10am to 7pm daily http://www.toyogogroup.com/TYGSG/index.php !! meepok
  15. Hi Toppie, I did mine with PD Door (www.pddoor.com) for the mbr bathroom for $280+. You can have a clearer picture of how the door works from their website, I took some photos but can't really see much cos of the obstructed camera angle. If you're getting the door from them, they deliver and fix up everything, including removing the current wooden door. Their bi-fold is slightly different from the normal bi-fold door as you can see from their website illustration. The normal type will just fold into a V-shape to one side, but this will actually slide and fold away 180degrees flat onto the wall. meepok
  16. Hi Meowie, I think still can do roman blinds bah, but may look out of place?? Better to check with the curtain people loh. So you actually intend to make curtains for all rooms, that's why all the pelmets?? Roman blinds will cost more than roller and normal curtains loh. The cheapest I've found so far is from E-Curtains; Nite+Day in Living, Nite in MBR, Roman blinds for all other rooms & aircon ledge for $1K+ only. I think if doing roller blinds for the other 2 rooms may be even cheaper?? Their pricing quite competitive and we saw the material range also not too bad, alot of those retail curtain shops send their orders for them to sew also. By going direct, we cut off the middle-man cost loh. meepok
  17. Hi Liana, Thanks for the pix! I've decided to just make 1 shelf instead... ID's going to charge me for making 3 shelves... as for the single pipe on top, maybe think of something to DIY liao Hi meowie, I think alot depends of what material & type of curtains/blinds you're using for each individual room... be it day+night, roller blinds, roman blinds, etc. Went asking around few shops like the ones in TPY central, jimmy, e-curtains, etc. So far from what I've gathered... the range is between $1K+ to $1.4K for doing day+nite in living room, nite only for mbr, roman blinds for the 2 bedrooms & aircon ledge window for my 4-room. If you're doing curtains for all rooms, then will be cheaper. Roman blinds cost slightly more loh. Not sure if the 5-room units have more windows?? and if you have the L-shaped window in the mbr then will have additional cost also. meepok
  18. If I'm not wrong, they have both stainless steel and chrome accessories... the chrome ones will be much cheaper. I got my kitchen pull-out drawers from them, chrome ones though. The stainless steel ones cost almost double the price!! If you're getting stainless steel ones, can try Song Cho. they're quite known for their SS accessories with warranty as well. Otherwise, if got tight budget then just go for the cheaper chrome version. meepok
  19. Hi Bonkitty, Thanks for the info! I've spoken with the Teka technician who came by yesterday to fix the defect. It seems that my hood placement is still acceptable for the air to vent out from the opening on both sides of the cabinet. No need for the chimney thing. Just make sure to seal up the back of the hood so as to prevent any stray air from dousing the flame on the hob below. Didn't know about the different venting functions from the various brands when I got the hood initially. So now the air will vent out near our head level when we're cooking! No choice... better than to have to install the air-vent grill outlet on top of the cabinet.... abit ugly loh. Thanks for your help! meepok
  20. Hi meowie, kam sia! Will look around see see first, anyway wait for reno complete then buy. Thanks! meepok
  21. Hi meowie, Joking with u only... don't dare smoke cigar in anyone's house lah! Yes, red wine will be great too... have u bought your wine chiller? May I know what brand, size and storage capacity? Was thinking of getting a budget-priced chiller also, but no idea of where to put it yet meepok Hi Zephy, As promised... photos showing the aircon pipes/trunking from the toilet out to the aircon ledge... the pipes hidden inside the toilet overhead L-box thing (view from bottom up)... and how they ran the pipes/trunking thru both toilets... meepok
  22. Hi Zephy, Huh?? Why is he not happy??? Is the aircon guy under the ID reno package or you engaged separately? Just now went kpo other units below my flat, all of them also hack thru from top of bathroom wall to the ledge leh... and my aircon guy confirm, chop & sign say can be done this way by hacking thru the toilet wall, as long as you don't hack thru the thicker beam structures, which I think is very difficult to hack anyway. I will post some photos after I upload them later. Is your aircon guy trying to smoke you? or is he trying to do it the easy way? How many walls to hack thru if doing it his way, and how many walls if doing it your way thru the toilet? meepok
  23. Hi Gadgetman, Thanks for showing us your beautiful home this evening! The view is amazing! Night view should be more shiok Really liked how you made so many hidden compartments all over the house! Storage no problem liao!... now I'm abit worried when my barang barang accumulates over the years... jialat cos bomb shelter may not be sufficient then! Thanks again! meepok Hi meowie, Nice meeting you again this evening and thanks for dinner! Promise I'll drop by when your place is ready and I'll bring over some Absolut to yam seng! Or you prefer Martell? Cordon Bleu? Cigar allowed anot?? meepok
  24. Hi Toppie, Or alternatively, you can change to those slide & swing bi-fold PD door, about $280+ each. Don't need to hack anything, they'll just add on another frame to your existing door frame, that's it. If lazy, don't even need to open full, just slide to half length and enter! meepok
