Hi Hana79, I think Shieldtox has a new kind of insecticide spray specially formulated for lizards... but not cheap though... the other alternative is to get those sticky trap thingy from NTUC or provision shops... place them under tables or in corners where the lizards usually appear. Been using them in my current place, so far quite effective, sometimes even catch cockroaches! But it may be a bit of a scare for those who fear lizards to dispose of the used trap. For cockroaches, I've been using those sticky traps from Daiso... equally effective too. They have similar trap/baits like that Combat but at cheaper price. For mozzies, I'm using a combo of Antimos and those electrical soundwave gadget... not as effective... maybe mozzies have evolved to be immune to such stuffs liao?? I heard the better alternative to combat mozzies is to get those "blue lantern gadgets... it lures them into the light n zaps them to death! but a mess to clear up after the massacre!

Hi Wildreds2, Don't need to use key to lock it back... simple push the door to close will do. The same for the other electrical meter door. Thanks for the pebbles! Will return your trolley soon Hope the Ramly was nice mine was still ok... still can't beat original from KL!

Hi Yel, I believe yours is those door facing door units?? Then all the more your neighbour should not clutter the shared area... unlike those units which have their own "personal" corridor, they should have spared a thought for their neighbour. Some people really too much... I think you should avoid further confrontation with these unreasonable people... take photo and go straight to the Town Council... I think there's a new Neighbourhood Court or something which can settle such cases. Hi all, FYI, there's a pasar malam going on next to TPY Courts... just in case some fellow 79ers need their Ramly Burger fix!

Hi Tension, Yes. Security indeed is very much lacking in our neighbourhood. So far, doorbells have been stolen, flats broken into, shoes stolen, cars broken into, etc. The sky garden school kids ruckus seems minor by comparison. So much for being just next to the NPC! I did not mean for forummers to take time off and do guard duty or foot patrol around the neighbourhood... just need to be more alert to things happening around oneself... and call in the relevant authorities should one spot suspicious characters or crime in action. Look out, help and advise one another like how we did for our reno process... that's all. Civic mindedness doesn't take much effort.
-
Hi Redwyrm, I'm glad you've seen through the 'Matrix' eh? LOL The SPF is under Wong Kan Seng's MHA, which was also involved with the recent escaped limping terrorist. We pay expensive golden peanuts, still get lousy complacent monkey! I rest my case.

Hi TPY, I'm not asking for everyone to be a jagar to part-time policeman... don't get me wrong... after all it's our home and neighbourhood. We can't always depend on those keystone cops to safe keep the peace and uphold the law.... sometimes, when we see something unjust or wrong, we have to make certain decisions & choices which may be out of our comfort zone. Maybe we're so accustomed to having the higher authorities tell us what to do for so many years, that at times without their instructions & campaigns, we're like lost sheeps. An example... when one's common corridor is extremely dusty with discarded items for the past few days... do u wait for the TC people to come and clean up the mess by waiting for a few more days? Or do you call up the TC and chase them to come clean up asap? Or maybe for a change, you could even clean up the mess if it's of a manageable scope? It's every individual 79ers' initiative at the end of the day... to make the living environment a safer and better place for our families.
-
Hi Redwyrm, I've already taken the Red Pill... woken up from their pork-barrel propaganda politics long ago. They say "you pay peanuts you get monkey"... but I say "we're paying macademia nuts and we're still get monkeys!" You know they have no credibility when someone can punch you and walk away scot-free, with no arrest made by the Police whatsoever. They can tell you to lodge a complaint with the courts before they will take action since nobody died or was seriously injured. Not even taking down the particulars of the assailant.... unless you're a Member of Parliament, then that's a totally different story altogether! We all have to do our part to safe keep the neighbourhood... be it the sky gardens, the lift lobbies or carpark. Bring the age-old kampung spirit back to 79! Hi liverpoolforlife, Mine is 4-tier L-shape, they joined 2 racks together, not galvanized steel I think, just those normal metal frames with slots in them. My bomb shelter size is 65" x 65" square layout. I think Toppie is coming over this Sat to see the rack... maybe can take picture and show you loh

Hi Pooh_75, Those punks making a din at the 12th floor sky garden are students in uniform... white & dark blue... anyone knows which school?... guys and gals... teasing each other and running around shouting... food and drinks strewn all over the table... didn't actually see them defacing anything so didn't confront them. As there are a few 'hidden spots' on the sky garden, these kids will congregate and do funny stuff, thinking nobody will see them. Haven't seen the situation at night though... but during the day, you can see a few group of students occupying the tables there. One table is already defaced with liquid paper ink. Besides the sky garden, other 'hidden' areas include certain stairwells with door. Have shocked young couples/students sitting on the steps in close embrace or smoking. I've long given up on our SPF... expensive big-budget TV ads... glossy conceptual print ads... just like our NDP... for show only... wayang! I think it's time we take matters in our own hands... to a certain extent. Teenagers today are unlike our era... with literally no corporal punishment and discipline in the schools... they have become more pampered and daring.. defying teachers & parents! If I see such unsavoury acts happening the next time, I will go up to them and tell them off... if they persist, I will simply "trouble" our "esteemed" neighbourhood police to pay them a visit! But if they're of the unsavoury gangster type, it's better to just let the boys in blue do the dirty work and clean them up! Hi Redwyrm, If u believe the few conspiracy theories floating around... the truth may not be that far away! The whole COI report is only a show to appease the people... nothing more, nothing less. No accountability. No transparency. "It has happened. What to do?" - PM Lee

Hi Hana79, Actually, I'm already immune to the blue & orange tiles liao!! Like what I always tell my wife... toilet can wash n bathe can liao... next time win Toto then say!

Hi Pooh75, Yes indeed! The SPF has got lots to learn from their counterparts in other countries, for example HK. Why only appear to clean up the mess when you could have prevented it in the first place? How? By making more foot patrols in the neighborhoods... in the city... in the vice districts... by making their presence felt... but no, they only do patrol in the air-conditioned comfort of their patrol cars!! How often do you see them Policemen doing foot patrols in the city or your neighbourhood?... and I'm not talking about 'patrols' to the kopitiam to tapow makan & kopi siew dai! I've only seen the patrol cars driving along the small road behind our blocks... that's all... maybe the occasional trip up and down the multi-storey carpark. Never once did I see any of them get down the car to patrol on foot! I suppose the only sure way to make them appear in droves and in a instant, is to get Dr Chee to hold a peaceful citizen protest with placards and loudhailers!... which he did so, over the Labour Day holiday next to the TPY Library and Bata shop. Since they did not have any placards this time, no uniformed Policemen were visibly present to arrest them. I suppose we'll have to be more vocal and proactive in complaining to the Police when things get out of hand, especially on the 12th floor. Or maybe someone should highlight this issue to the MP when he makes his next "shake hand & take photo" appearance. I hope some SPF folks are reading this. Better buck up hor! Don't waste time with that escaped limping terrorist anymore ok?

Hi liverpoolforlife, We just did the store room L-shape rack for $180. Size: 64" (L) x 48" (L) x 20" (W) x 72" (H). Grey frames with white boards. Quite standard type I suppose. No discount for bulk orders either. If want to do 64" x 64" is $220. The L-rack will extend wall to wall. As for the 64" x 48", it will leave a gap on 1-side of the wall. This is for you to place your iron board, brooms, ladder, etc. Congrats Bonkitty!! I believe your stay in TPY would be a long and fruitful one! Time to explore the neighbourhood liao! Maybe when most of us are settled in, can go for big makan over at Oasis Hi Hana79, Did the bathtub + jacuzzi cost a bomb? I've also seen a neighbour who did their bathroom with overlaid tiles and bathtub. But not jacuzzi. Looks like those hotel kind of bathroom. Very nice. But then again... BUDGET! Me no choice... got to live with the ugly blue and orange bathrooms for the time being. Maybe strike Toto then can consider...

Hey nice panoramic view! Did you notice that the sky garden is in a sorry state? Maybe the cleaners have not cleaned up the place, but there were rubbish strewn all over and around the bins, graffiti on the tables, broken styrofoam boards thrown in the corner, etc. Also noticed lots of students using the area to play the fool... burning stuffs even! Definitely not studying for sure! I suspect there maybe even some hanky panky going on at night! Hi Tension, I believe if you're not subscribing to SCV Cable TV channels, then don't need to activate the point. That's what I heard from BonKitty... she said even then, you can "activate" the point yourself!

Hi meowie, I think there's a dentist below 79C or 79D... corner unit... babymaro said the dentist quite handsome... looks abit like that HK actor Tao Dayu... only abit on the chubbier side Not sure if he's good though... Hi Tension & Redcrystal, Didn't get any... but the guy and lady there quite friendly and helpful... some of the designs comparable to Molecule's... like a budget "cheong" version of their designer clocks.... for the $29.90 clocks the surface design are digitally colour printed on vinyl paper... but it's waterproof no worries. I actually intend to DIY something similar to the $29.90 clocks... even bought the clock mechanism and materials from Art Friend! The material cost is almost $19 already... might as well buy the ready-made ones! I have another DIY clock design 'stolen' from Molecule, but need some carpentry work for that... so KIV for the moment... cos they're selling the clock for almost $700!!!! How to buy?? May drop by again another day when I have a clearer idea of what kind of design I want... they guy mentioned the designs will be updated constantly... so most of the designs are one or two-off items. meepok Hi Meowie, The insurance co. is AIG... we signed the fire protection plan when we collected our keys from HDB the last time. So I guess they have our records bah, that's why they sent me this plan for the reno & contents insurance coverage. There are a few options, can pay lump sum for 5yrs coverage, get abit discount... or installment plan with DBS/POSB for 5yrs... or one-time annual plan of $70+ via Giro payment. Plus a free slow cooker...which I suspect is of the "chap-pa-lang" brand type. I chose the last option, although the lady told me if I signed for the 5yr lump sum plan, I won't be affected by any GST increase within these 5 years. meepok

hi redcrystal, I was just at the shop few minutes ago. it's a cart opposite the golfing shop on the 2nd for, near to world of sports also. the clocks are quite designer style, made in Korea. Prices from $29.90 to $59.90 Meepok I just signed up with them this afternoon. Didn't really check around also. I signed up for the 1 yr plan only at $70+.... Got free slow cooker also. Meepok

Hi Toppie, I think it all depends on how "bad" the uneven tiles are... I think very difficult for all tiles to be 100% even also... we had a few uneven tiles in the bedrooms also, some still can 'close one eye', but a few were not acceptable, the 'cut-leg' effect was very obvious. So the tiler came, removed the tiles, and laid new ones. So far, the 'cut-leg' effect gone after replacing. But correct me if I'm wrong... I thought hollow tiles are more prone to popping up than 'cut-leg' tiles?? meepok

Hi neighbours, Saw this interesting $39 magnetic whiteboard thing from iwannagohome! from a magazine ad. Haven't seen the real thing so can't comment much yet. Just an idea for those who may want to hide or conceal the hot/cold pipes on the kitchen wall. Maybe add a plank/shelf below and place this on top?? Or maybe just for display somewhere in the kitchen, study, etc. Not too sure if that's a real working clock though?? meepok
