  1. Well said Pooh_75! It will only take a tragic accident to happen before 'they' will pull up their socks and do something... remember the WDC incident with Grand Illusionist Selamat?? I agree with you wholeheartedly on the restricted access system like in the HK public housing... though their flats look nondescript and ugly compared... at least they have entry level security! You look at these new HDB-Condo style half-a-million-$$$ flats in Bendemeer and AMK... all the luxurious design & styling of condos but minus the security. What's the use of spending half a million to stay in a 'high class' HDB flat??? End of the day, you still get all the vandalism, killer litter, suspicious strangers, noisy punks, etc. With regards to the votes... they can always redraw the GRC boundaries to dilute or saturate the votes in their favour... win-win strategy for them lah... simply walkover loh! One more thing I need to check... are our corridors, lift landings, rubbish chute area supposed to be swept & cleared daily?? Cos it seems that rubbish has been left lying for days near the rubbish chute area, attracting mozzies! In my previous place, the foreign worker engaged, clears and sweeps the floor on a daily basis. How come the practise is different here??? Aren't we all paying the monthly S&C fees as well??? Or do we need to wait for dengue cases or some Chikungunya disease to spread before they do anything??
  2. Well done! Although we do not bypass the Sky Garden everyday, the unsightly graffiti and outrageous behaviors of these punks are just too much already! I've written to the TC and their reply was that they will clean up the vandalised walls and inform the Police as well. Not too sure what action the matas are going to take... but I am sure it will be another futile half-baked effort. Maybe I should carry a solid iron spanner with me when I visit the Sky Garden... it will come in handy to knock some cow sense into these freaking punks or maybe break a leg or two!
  3. Latest Update A number of walls on the 12th level Sky Garden between 79C and 79E has been vandalised by some very uncreative graffiti in the guise of a horribly drawn butterfly and the calling numbers of a local "Sipeh Sart" gang "369". I have already notified the BTPTC about this matter. Let's hope they clean up the mess in time for PAP Day. With so many groups of these young punks hanging around the sky garden day and night. It is of no surprise that such acts of vandalism persists. These punks sit around the tables, at times eating or smoking, at times pretending to study while enjoying a puff. Discarding their rubbish all over the place after they'd finish. Now, they've got even bolder by defacing the walls with their sub-standard graffiti! Maybe the TC should consider installing those "eye in the sky" like the ones in Geylang to deter these would-be punks. That is, if the cost for cleaning up is costlier than for installing the surveillance cams. Otherwise, why have a beautiful sky garden only to be constantly destroyed by some inconsiderate scums??? Might as well not build it in the first place or spend the $$$ on other areas.
  4. Not strong lah... I also "boh tak chek" low level 3rd class citizen nia It's just that many Singaporeans are afraid to speak up... fear the Gahmen, fear the mata, fear ISD, fear this fear that... 40 years of propaganda has done wonders to SG! We're now a bunch of obedient servants! I believe politics is very much interwoven into our daily lives... life in SG has changed tremendously in favour of economic gains... the people up there already lost touch with the ground years ago... there are no checks and balances... no transparency... the list goes on... We have moved too fast, too soon. In the bid to be First World, the gahmen has forsaken the very people who toiled hard to build this nation, the citizens, our forefathers... we have also lost one important thing, our soul. "absolute power corrupts absolutely"
  5. Very true... I'd rather they have a 24hr convenience store like Cheers or 7-11...at least, if you're having the runs, can still get some po chai pills!
  6. Last time mata wore shorts and Bugis Street still can find Ah Kwa leh! Now, everything is about the bottom line... $$$ Now, they desperate liao... if not why got the copycat Singapore Flyer? if not why want to build 2 casinos?? why now then kancheong spider want host F1?? I thought some wise old man said only over his dead body will there be casinos in Sinkieland?? Last time got many humble and honest Ministers... got moral authority one ok Now, simi si moral authority??? I only see money faced monkeys and one stubborn baboon Outside swee swee First World nia... but at what expense??? Our culture? Our happiness? Our old folks? It is time for the people of Sinkieland to wake up...
  7. Tax the rich??? I tell you... the rich elites in Singapore are RECESSION-PROOF! In Sinkieland, the rich become richer, the poor gets no handouts, the middle class gets plundered leegally and begs for more every 5 years! ERP is the ultimate "money tree" masterplan from the LTA and the gahmen... there will be more gantries coming up very soon... probably after the next GE (their SOP)... gantries are already erected at the KPE. Soon, PIE towards Changi will receive the same blessing. They want drivers to abandon their cars and take public transport if they feel the heat... but let me ask Mr LTA Bigshot... can your public transport system handle it if every other driver in SG gives up their vehicle for public transport??? Ask any of your friends who are taking the MRT or buses... isn't it already a bad enough squeeze now? With the tsunami of FTs coming in like diarrhoea... I can't imagine!
  8. Maybe we should also be more alert and wary of suspicious people in and around our blocks... see anything funny just call the men in blue... but don't expect them to be here in an instant though! Something like a mini neighbourhood watch group... cos recently there have been groups of youngsters making a din at the playgrounds in the middle of the night. And I just came back from the 12th floor Sky Garden... one of the walls has a decorative butterfly graffiti! And another thing... maybe we should petition to have all the doors leading to the staircases removed??? They are potential hiding spots for would be trouble makers!
  9. Let's just hope & pray their "back up" plan is not to tax us low level peasants to death! I'm no financial analyst, but whatever they're doing in the name of economic growth, let's just hope they do it for the sake of Singapore and not LEE Dynasty via nepotism and legalised corruption. Just my two cents worth Hi Drac, This GE maybe got chance cos of all the screw ups under Mr Wong's MHA. The Opposition might wanna strike while the iron is hot. Just like what they did in AMK in the last GE. Who knew they would pick a fight with the PM's GRC? And the funny thing was, they did not fare too badly in terms of percentage votes! Cos The Spirit of Cheng San was alive and kicking!
  10. Hi Phantom, I think it's bad cos Mdm Ho is investing like nobody's business in these dead horses! Once bitten twice not shy! No transparency, no accountability, of cos invest lah! Not her $$$ anyway so why bother? It's only the people's $$$... as someone's wife once said, "It's peanuts". I think we should also be asking Mdm Ho about her investments in UBS, Citigroup, Global Crossing, etc. as well. Not enough $$$ for 'shopping' trips? No problem, just increase GST or tax the peasants till kingdom come! It's the Golden Period now!* (* for elites & white horses only) This bugger is threatening to sue some of those kids over at HWZ forum over some postings.... and HWZ even told him to go make police report! I knew this day would come where we will be downgraded to 3rd Class Citizen.
  11. Maybe he'll be "luckier", kena permanent stay at Sentosa even! Or kena hounded like Dr Chee, give a fart only the police will come running, maybe even got "ang chia"! I guess we'll have to wait for the outcome of the investigation. Whether the murderer knew the victim or was he murdered in the process of robbery... since there were no signs of forced entry...
  12. Hey Drac, Seems like more bad news liao... as u know Temasick just pumped another few billion into Merrill Lynch again! There goes our CPF $$$!! Sinkieland is sinking liao... now, even FT also demanding to buy subsidised flats from HDB! Casino will only open up the Pandora's Box! Good luck & More Good Years indeed! By the way, I think write letter or complain to Mr Wong or Mr Hen also useless... do it with your votes the next GE probably in 2010 or 2011...
  13. Hi Pooh_75, You don't say! Just last month or so, there some police going round our units knocking on doors to tell us about the numerous break-ins in our blocks. As if we don't already know??! Then still have the cheek to say that although they are just next door, sometimes due to shortage of manpower or time constraint, they may not be able to attend to our calls that fast. So they hope we can understand and give them time to respond. They also said that it's not very possible to do frequent foot patrols as there're just too many TPY blocks to cover, but will TRY. Heard morale in the SPF super low... that's why all the recent screw ups... from Mas Selamat to the ICA. I don't blame they bottom level personnel... when the top is crooked, what do you expect from the bottom?? Want to be First World government and take First World salary but give Third World results and performance!
  14. Yah man! Always must wait until something serious then they will pull up their socks!! Just like what one female million $$$ MP has said, "Want pangsai then go find jamban". And now the sai already "lau kui khor!" No news yet on whether it's break-in or by someone known to the victim... maybe tonight's Chinese evening daily should have more info. So i think for now, all neighbours should be wary of strangers coming to your house, especially those who say they're from the HDB, SPower, Starhub, etc. Must ask for identification or call up to check. Even those who are selling locks, security alarms, replacing hinges, etc. Must be extra careful! Hello Mr Wong & Mr Hen! Pay you million $$$ salary to sleep on the job har?? Or too busy counting $$$ to notice what's happening to your GRC?? Honest mistake again or complacent again??
  15. Aug 1, 2008 Elderly man found stabbed to death in bedroom By Carolyn Quek A 73-YEAR-OLD man was found dead in a pool of blood on the bedroom floor in a flat in Toa Payoh Central on Thursday night. He had stab wounds to his upper body and a knife was found next to him. His daughter, who is in her 30s, is believed to have found him dead when she returned to the flat in Block 79C after 10 pm on Thursday. The victim, said to be a retiree, was lying face up in a pool of blood. He was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene at 11.05 pm. Neighbours The Straits Times spoke to said they heard no commotion. Police are investigating the case as murder.
  16. Did you try setting your air-con at between 25 to 27 degrees? Cos if you're using your air-con at between 18 to 20 degrees, the cost can be quite alot. Then you can also try setting timer for your air-con. Let's say you'll be sleeping for 8 hours, just set your air-con to turn off after 7 hours. That 1 hour just nice for the room temperature to "wake you up" loh. Mine was around $100+ for the past 2 month's bill, this month still got Ah Kong give rebate $95.
  17. Dear Mr TPY, Since Day One, your postings have been rude, impolite, sarcastic and many a times, irrelevant to the issue and topic discussed. Which is why people like myself feel the dire need to come in and give you our two-cents worth of slaps on your thick behind, regardless of whether you're an infant child, an underaged teenage delinquent, a retired million $$$ minister, a deceased cow or a sterilised b_itch. To accuse someone of not having integrity is indeed a serious matter. I believe you have crossed the fine line between sacarstic banter and rude forum behaviour. As for the lower SP bills for this month, it is due to the fact that our kind and sympathetic million $$$ government has decided to give some miniscule rebates to its long-suffering peasants. GST is to help the poor, you've forgotten already? Please sir, we'd appreciate if you can just take some time to find out the facts before you start posting your unconstructive comments in future. Thank you.
  18. Don't forget... Shin Corp, ABC Learning, Citigroup, Micropolis, Global Crossing... and the mother of all screw ups... Suzhou
  19. Hi Jacky, TC charge should be $52 per month. Just make sure to keep on pestering the TC after you've paid up. The corridors are not being swept everyday, **** bloody dirty n dusty. I thought the norm is to sweep everyday, and wash twice a month?? If you're not on GIRO, you'll need to pay up via AXS or SAM. They won't send you any letter of reminder nor give you a little booklet to keep track of payment like they used to do anymore. They want your money and want you to personally bring it to them on bended knees as well. This greedy gahmen really know how to suck the peasants blood high n dry! $52 per month per household. you go do the maths. By right, they should be sweeping the area 3 times a day, washing the blocks everyday, and painting the exterior every year with that kind of $$$ liao! Now tell me where did the bulk of the $ go???
  20. If it's a rotting piece of meat or a soiled sanitary pad lying on your ledge, would you still learn to live with it? Short of climbing out onto the ledge to personally pick it up, the next best option would be to push it down. But of course bearing in mind the neighbours below, it will be best to push it further out so that it doesn't accidentally hit or injure the innocent. Cos the area below our kitchen ledge is not easily accessible by people passing by, unless they're there to pick up dropped rubbish or up to mischief. Then all you have to do is let the town council workers clear it up during their cleaning rounds. Or if it really pricks your conscience, you may proceed downstairs to personally dispose of the said rubbish or keep it as a momento of your public spiritness!
  21. Dear TPY, If she could pick up the paper from the ledge, don't you think she would have done so already? Do you think she'll still need to use a bamboo pole to push it off the ledge?? And may i know what apparatus are you using to pick up stray rubbish/papers from your ledge? I'm sure lots of neighbours would appreciate the info for such an ingenious tool! Taking into consideration of the distance between the windows and the ledge, I don't suppose you're using a food tong? charcoal tong? tree pruning scissors? I suppose with all the dusty reno works going on, making the ledge dirty and dusty, you will be climbing out over onto the ledge to mop it? Or maybe can get your domestic helper to assist with such a dangerous act instead?
  22. In celebration of Singapore's National Day, here's a little 45 minute documentary you might want to watch. It's sort of like taking the Red Pill... enjoy http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6...46551&hl=en
  23. MILLION $$$ QUOTES FROM OUR MINI$TER$ “…we have not got richer, Singapore has” - MM Lee Kuan Yew 26th June 2008, ST “Hopefully he will touch on the idea that public responsibility is important. The Government could not be responsible for everything.” - MP Teo Ho Pin on the pending COI findings with regards to Mas Selamat’s escape, 19th April 2008, TODAYonline “The co-worker was drawing men in droves to the coffee shop. This meant brisk business which, in turn, helped the local drinks lady keep her job.” - Minister Lim Boon Heng on foreign workers, 18th April 2008, ST, in an article titled “They’re young, they’re foreign, and they’re helping to save your job” “Singaporeans are being complacent when they believe that the Government will take care of all security matters.” - MM Lee Kuan Yew on Mas Selamat’s escape, 5th April 2008, ST “This was a lapse, what to do, it has happened.” - PM Lee Hsien Loong on the impact of Mas Selamat’s escape on Singapore’s reputation, 9th March 2008, ST “This should have never have happened. I am sorry that it has.” - Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng on Mas Selamat’s escape 28th February 2008, CNA (* Other than the apology, no explanation was given. Ironically, someone once infamously said, “sorry also must explain why” sometime in GE2006 over the James Gomez saga.) “…10, 15, 20 opposition members in Parliament. Instead of spending my time thinking what is the right policy for Singapore, I’m going to spend all my time thinking what’s the right way to fix them, to buy my supporters votes…” - PM Lee Hsien Loong when asked about opposition, 3rd May 2006, CNA “For a person who runs a million-dollar charitable organisation, S$600,000 is peanuts as [NKF] has a few hundred millions in reserves.” - Mrs. Goh Chok Tong on TT Durai’s salary, July 2005 “You’re getting a bargain for the ministers you get… I worked half as much and earn(ed) five times more when I was in the private sector.” - Manpower Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen, 9 September 2003, CNA “Layoffs not all bad. If there are no retrenchments at all, then I worry for Singapore.” - PM Goh Chok Tong, 22nd March, 2003 “I regret making the decision because, in the end, the baby continued to be in intensive care, and KKH now runs a bill of more than $300,000.” - Lim Hng Kiang on how he regretted intervening to admit a premature baby into KKH, 21st May 2002, ST
  24. Hi Aural, Mine's $101 for 4-rm... just aircon at night for 7 hours set at 28 degress. Plus the usual suspects like TV, fridge, instant heater, computer, PLC lights, etc... Come July our bill will be set to increase by an extra 5%... that's about $5 more into our Gahmen's pocket! Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely indeed! Hi Vlanze, Here's a video you should watch... very good National RE-education http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6...42704&hl=en or
  25. SINGAPORE : Electricity tariffs will go up by 4.98 per cent or by 1.19 cents per kilo watt per hour (kWh) for all households from the next quarter, beginning July 1. Singapore Power said the hike is due to higher electricity costs arising from higher fuel prices. The forward fuel oil price is 11.03 per cent higher than that of US$74.40 per barrel for the current quarter. The electricity tariff is revised every quarter and this latest hike is lower, in percentage terms, than what it was three months ago. Still, coming at the back of rising inflation and an overall increase in the cost of living, not everyone is taking the news well. "I spend about $100 on bills already, as well as other expenses. So it will be quite difficult for me to cope," said one Singapore resident. Another said: "Just use less electricity, and switch off the lights when not in use." Low-income families are expected to be hardest hit, but grassroots organisations said there are measures to help residents cope. "We call it the Power Up scheme, where we work with our grassroots organisations and grassroots advisors (to help those) who could not afford to pay their electricity bills and had their electricity supply terminated. So this scheme is to help them restore their electricity supply," said Dr Teo Ho Pin, Mayor of North West District. But coping is what some motorists are having difficulty with, now that pump prices have gone up again. Since Monday, petrol prices are up 5 cents a litre and 10 cents for diesel. The latest to join in is the Singapore Petroleum Company (SPC), which has nearly 40 stations island-wide. "I feel that it's illogical, the way fuel companies are earning so much money. Their profit margins are so high, yet the prices are rising," said one member of the public. Others like Shell, Caltex, and ExxonMobil have already announced their hikes - the 13th consecutive increase since last July. - CNA “We cannot control prices. If there is an upward pressure on prices, we have to live with it.” - Minister for National Development Mah Bow Tan on price control despite rising food costs, 21st April 2008, CNN
