  1. I can help with putting up the signs but first I got to know the TC's stand on this... will I be penalised for displaying these signs instead? Cos it's also a form of vandalism since I'm not authorised by the TC or HDB. Can any of the RC or TC people reading advise on this? Hana79? It seems that our concern for the Sky Garden turning into a notorious cesspool has not been seriously acknowledged. I'm not sure what can be achieved with the proposed meeting with the TC or SPF, since they already know the root of the problem. Now, it's just a matter for them to act and put a stop to all these vandalism. Either convert the Sky Garden to restricted access or install surveillance equipment to prevent further deterioration as many suggested. Serious crime may not have been committed yet, but do we really want to act only after it happens?? These troublemaking bastards may soon tire of the Sky Garden and make their way to our flats & corridors... stealing shoes/slippers (just happened to me as well), smashing potted plants, setting fire to discarded garbage, etc. Do we then expect the SPF to attend to these ikan bilis cases?? Or do we expect them to foot patrol our corridors?? Prevention is always best. Complacency is not an excuse. We already have acts of vandalism, underaged smoking, illegal gatherings, daredevil stunt kids, water-bomb Olympians in training. Even though not every act has been reported to the authorities, I'm sure they know what's going on in their estate. Do we really have to wait for something drastic or fatal to happen before things get done?? I sincerely hope that after the proposed meeting. The relevant authorities will act on the matter and resolve our concerns for the Sky Garden. Does anyone know what measures were taken for Sky Garden in other estates facing similar problems??
  2. Most likely to save $$$ cos gahmen just announced more "ang pows" for the peasants. As if everyone reads what's posted on the notice board... half-hearted measure again. Stoppage of power is of far more importance than the schedule for block washing... they have to prioritise accordingly. I noticed that they no longer distribute such notice to the individual mailboxes/units anymore... not even in my parent's estate. Way back then, such notices were either inserted in the mailboxes or slipped under each unit's door. Now, they just stick a piece of paper and expect you to find out for yourself amongst the heap of notices on the board. High cost for doing so I suppose. * Undesirable comment ahead As my ah gong used to say, "Want to do, do a good job. If not, don't even start."
  3. The police can't do much if they don't see any crime/vandalism in progress. They can only increase their patrol and question those punks to prevent further vandalism. With regards to safety, I guess it's now up to each house to do their own protection and prevention. I don't expect the boys in blue to do foot patrol for every floor, that's asking too much. With limited resources, I suppose what they're doing now should be sufficient. The ball is now in our court. As for the TC, what I would like to know is what are their long-term plans to keep the Sky Garden free from all the vandalism? Are they planning to install some form of restricted access gate or surveillance cameras? Or simply wait for more vandalism to occur then clean up the mess? If it is the latter, I rest my case. No point for me to get all hot and bothered when they don't seem as eager. But rest assured that I will continue to post photos of future vandalised walls here for all to see. My complaint about the vandalised walls was only rectified after 2 weeks. I suppose I was asking for too much when I expected them to clean up within a few days. I guess by now, the authorities would have known about our concerns already since i was told we have RC, TC and SPF people reading the forum. Namely the vandalism & gathering of trouble-makers on the Sky Garden. The security issue can be reviewed at a later stage when more neighbours start to move in, since most of the break-in cases were under-secured flats undergoing reno. So it seems that the issue on hand is more of a concern for the TC than the NPP. My undesirable comments in some posts may be too painful for some. The truth hurts. My apologies but my stand remains. Anyway, many many thanks to Hana, for helping to relay our concerns to the relevant authorities.
  4. LOL! ok ok I will keep my knuckle duster and stay away from the cul-de-sac for the time being! Let the boys in blue do their job first. May I also suggest that some sort of signage be placed around the sky garden walls... something like "Area Under Surveillance..." which Alister mentioned about earlier. Whether or not they're going to install real surveillance camera is another issue. Just like those red light cameras... some could be fakes. Well, at least it may help deter some of these would-be punks from doing the dirty deed!

  7. WTF?! So fast kena vandalised again???!!! Did you ask the mata boys to patrol during the afternoon? that's when lost of students and kids congregate there in groups... at night a different group of people... more couples and adults. They may want try patrolling the corridors with the hidden corners at night as well as the Sky Garden. Let's hope they are able to reduce the state of vandalism with their increased presence!
  8. LATEST UPDATE Good news! The 12th floor Sky Garden has been cleaned up. All graffiti have been painted over and removed. Let's hope it stays this way for good.
  9. Can't really blame them... after 43 years of 'nation building'... 'not my house, not my problem'... this we learnt very well from the gahmen Well... if push come to shove... rest assured that I will personally teach these punk *** kids some respect and moral education... something which our schools have suddenly turn their backs and ignored, out of fear of the demanding 'customer' parents! Throw me a water bomb and I'll make sure they'd wish they were never born! Dear Mr SPF, If you're reading this... kindly schedule some foot patrol to the 12th level sky garden during the afternoon and late evening... after school hour finishes... that's when these punk *** kids make their way up there to create havoc. Late nights are usually reserved for more mature lovebirds looking for some romantic time... intimacy I can still accept in land & baby scarce SG. When these punks know that the matas are patrolling the sky garden, they'll probably think twice before committing such moronic acts.
  10. To endure or to ignore??? Can't endure leh, unless don't go up the sky garden loh... out of sight, out of mind. I think the only solution is to tell these punks off... take photos or report to the authorities immediately. I was hoping that we can have some kind of citizen's arrest or authority to stop these bastards in their tracks. Short of pretending to be someone from the gahmen or mata (which is against the law), maybe the relevant authorities should grant us some form of 'diplomatic immunity', so that we can 'do the right thing'. Maybe??? Otherwise we'll need vigilante cops... "yippee kai yay mudder...." Just the other afternoon, saw a group of young kids running and playing punk on the sky garden... they were climbing up the walls and ledges, jumping from ledge to ledge, all the way from 79C to 79E... with total disregard for safety... maybe they're practising Parkour for the next National Day Parade? NKF Charity Show?? We'll just have to wait for a fatal accident to happen. Till then just bear with the graffiti, noise, mess, monkeys, water bombs, etc.
  11. Congrats.... errmm... at the expense of a few millions $$$ from taxpayer's pockets in exchange for an olympic silver/gold medal??? divide by 48 years... maybe still quite worth loh And for the finals, it will be China Truebred vs SG China FT
  12. Latest Update Some of the graffiti have been painted over, but not all. Maybe they're painting one wall per day. Slow no doubt, but it's a start. There are about 12 graffiti-infected walls, so give and take, they'll probably need a week to finish the job. As for security, I guess it's up to us residents at the end of the day. Keep our eyes and ears open for suspicious or weird characters and happenings. So far, still no signs of foot patrol from our matas. I'm not pinning any hope on them, and I don't blame them. Like someone said, "If you want to beat the dog, first you must know who is its master." I guess we need some to import some Division-One standard town council people and mata boys and pay them Superscale-G salaries real soon!
  13. LOL sipeh funny! laugh until peng! This video tells the truth more than any of the state propaganda media craps ever will! Heil PAP!
  14. Piped gas to cost more from Friday HOUSEHOLDS using piped gas will have to pay 1.87 cents per kWh from this Friday, which will add $1.70 to their monthly gas bill. City Gas, announcing the tariff increase, blames 'substantial increase in fuel oil price' as a reason for the hike. The current increase represents a 9.7 per cent hike from the current 19.34 cents per unit. Piped gas prices are reviewed quarterly to bring them in line with supply. The last hike was in February this year when tariffs went up by about 7 per cent. Natural gas price is pegged to that of high sulphur fuel oil (HSFO). The last revision saw the forward pricing of HSFO forecast at US$494.97 (S$872.41) per metric tonne. But the current forecast for HSFO for Aug 15 to Oct 31 is US$632.18 per metric tonne - an increase of 24.9 per cent since the February revision. So the general tariffs have been revised to 21.21 cents per unit, up from the current 19.34 cents per unit, which kicks in on Friday. City Gas supplies piped gas to 90 per cent of the residents living in new Housing Board estates and private properties, as well as commercial operations like hawker centres and hotels.
  15. welcome khim! I think it's not free... the system is free but there is a monthly subscription for x number of months if I'm not wrong... some other neighbour here commented on this a few days ago. You may want to check back a few pages. If you have the budget, go for it. Most important is that it should set your mind at peace while you're away. For others with budget, just invest in a slightly better lock for the main gate instead of the usual China-made padlocks.
  16. Wah Dracula! I smell heavy gun powder man! Let's hope the RC or TC or SPF people reading this forum take note of what is happening to their estate. No excuses for complacency... Sorry also must explain! On a more serious note, we need to draft out a formal letter of complaint to either the BTPTC or the MP about the degeneration of our estate and also the lack of security with the sightings of suspicious characters in the 'hidden' areas in and around the 5 blocks. Then we'll need to put our real names and addresses and sign against it to make this complaint/petition rock solid. I am hoping that the authorities in charge will act upon our concerns. Be it to install extra lightings or security cameras, increasing foot patrols or simply step up their vigilance. Otherwise, I wouldn't dare imagine what would happen to the state of our estate in 5 years. Prevention is always better than the cure. For a start, maybe we could open up all the doors leading to the staircases by placing a weighted object or by using folded cardboard/paper as door stoppers? At least with the doors opened, chances of would-be criminals hiding behind them is reduced.
  17. Dear Mr One & Only, Thank you for your prompt reply. I only wished your actions with regards to the vandalism was just as enthusiastic. I accept no reimbursements for my services. This being a First World Country and a Corruption-Free nation. Being a law-abiding 3rd class citizen and a designated blood-$ donor to the gahmen, I shall accept no such monetary gains. Rest assured that I will continue to pay the S&C charges regardless of the state of my neighbourhood and estate. I shall not question the TC's action or non-action on such matters. I shall also not question the spending of our S&C monies, be it for building new walkways, white elephant structures, or for investment in stocks and bonds. Thank you for you time! meepok
  18. BLK 79A-E VANDALISM UPDATE (PART 3) Dear Mr MP for TPY-Bishan, May i present to you some of the beautiful landscaping art found on our Sky garden over at Blk79. Admire the relentless talent that our future generation holds. I am confident that the future of Singapore shines bright and that the new generation of leaders will bring unsurpassed progress for the nation! Merdeka! "The PAP Government has always thrived on its ability to anticipate problems." - Wong Kan Seng
  19. BLK 79A-E VANDALISM UPDATE (PART 2) It has been more than a week since my feedback to the BTPTC... seems like they need to custom order & mix the paint from China and headhunt the most professional painters from India. Not forgetting the exquisite hand-crafted camel-hair paint brushes from Tibet! More photos of vandalism. Footnote: To: Mr Town Council Boss Cc: Mr Bigger Boss Wong, Mr Big Boss Ng I'm offering my amateur painting services to help out the BTPTC if you do not have the proper resources to do the job promptly, even after collecting the substantial S&C fees from the residents. There is no need to benchmark and pay me the salary of the top professionals in the private sector. Just supply me with the necessary tools and I will gladly help out the TC in these dire times for free. Yes, for free and I'm not even asking for any abalone porridge. You know where to find me.
  20. The sales date is confirmed. The banners are up outside along the Philips bldg already. As always, there'll be no adverts in the local papers. It has always been a known thing for their annual sale around this time I think should have... heard they were selling the lightbulbs cheap during the past year's sales.
  21. Yes bro, confirmed. This year slightly earlier that's why.
  22. Philips Carnival Sale 2008 Date: 23 - 24 August 2008 Time: 9.30am - 6.00pm Venue: 620A Philips TPY Lorong 1
  23. That's the problem with the doors in all the staircases... they are potential hiding places for these troublemakers! And when you walk from the MSCP, you'll have to walk along a narrow corridor with quite a number of closed door staircases! I suppose the idiotic designers who built the flats were thinking of playing "Doom" along the corridors! Better to have company when walking along these corridors especially at night... the matas only do their patrol in cars along the service road behind. I've long given up on them doing foot patrol already. But if they're willing to supply us with some batons and stun guns, I'll be more than happy to have a game of "Doom" once in a while!! On a lighter note... Philips Carnival Sale 2008 Date: 23 - 24 August 2008 Time: 9.30am - 6.00pm Venue: 620A Philips TPY Lorong 1
  24. Hi all, Please feel free to forward your comment or suggestions to the following: VivianLee@btptc.org.sg AdelineYam@btptc.org.sg RichardChew@btptc.org.sg SIM_Ting_Song@spf.gov.sg I will continue to update and post new evidence of vandalism in 79A-E here... maybe when the associates of Mr Wong or Mr Ng sees them, they might issue an imperial edict to clean up the sorry mess with immediate effect. Dear Mr Wong, Maybe the MHA or SPF could consider the option to issue me with a licence to clobber the living daylights out of these ingrates? I would be more than grateful to carry out their dirty work since the SPF is short of manpower these days. Not a "licence to kill" just maybe a "licence to inflict pain"?? Possible, Mr Wong??? I promise I will only use 1/3 strength of my 3-iron. I will reserve my 3-feet solid-iron crow bar for only the more stubborn ingrates and ill-bred punks. Consider this my humble service to the country. Thank you sir!
  25. BLK 79A-E VANDALISM UPDATE I'm ****ing sick and tired of the typical gahmen red-tape process in getting things done... waited 5 bloody ****ing days for them to clean up and nothing is being done up till today... and the best thing? More graffiti has been added since my initial feedback to them!! Shot them another email today and their reply was that they "will look into the matter and source for possible solutions to deter such acts...". What possible solutions can these overpaid gahmen scholars and retired desk generals come up with??? 24hr Cisco guard? Camera surveillance? Restricted security access? John McClane or John Rambo? Just this afternoon while I was at the 12th floor Sky Garden, groups of students and young teens were occupying most of the tables there... some were ignorantly smoking away (very likely to be underaged)... some were eating, playing and making a din and messing up the floors with discarded food wrappers... others were engaged in acts of intimacy. One teenaged girl was even sitting on the parapet facing HDB Hub but with her legs facing inwards!!! God forbid if a gust of wind sends her reverse para-sailing down 12 floors!! I suppose the TC or relevant authorities are waiting for something newsworthy to happen like someone falling off the 12th floor or some fatal gang fights before they start to take notice from their ivory towers??? Meanwhile, here are some of the beautiful "works of art" found on the 12th floor Sky Garden, courtesy of Singapore's future generation!!! (the result of modern day upbringing without corporal punishment in school and at home??) Celebrating the Singapore Spirit indeed!
