  1. Hi ryuki, When I saw you at 79C during the weird hour, I knew it is not easy to get back the deposit. The best timing to ask for deposit is when their shop is packed with customers during weekend like today. No point approaching them when their shop is empty or you will be played out again. It will be good to make use of the presence of their NEW potential customers to pressure for the deposit. They will try to protect their image and might issue you a refund. Use some nice words like "not able to meet that ID, he seems to be avoiding me", "I can't wait as my company SPH need me to be out stationed soon (let them think u are working in Press sector)". Don't have to raise your voice, if ID not around (Best) ask them to call him on phone to verify. Hope that you don't get me wrong, I am not asking you to create a scence. All the best in getting back your Money.
  2. Hi Liana_79B and alister and also those who installed Storager Heater. You might want to check out this Energy Saver timer switch to help lower your electricity bills. Energy Saver !!

  4. Thanks a_star, I will see any other way to prevent that.
  5. Hi 79ers, Can I check with you guys, are we allow to seal up the service Sanitary ducts as showed below? This can be found at the kitchen beam just below the cloth hanger. Does anyone else sealed up this area like I did. Please advise as I don't think this is the right way, should I ask my ID to change? Thanks in advance. Rachel
  6. Hi chocofudge, Have you compare Alumix with Stolmen Pole system from IKEA? Thinking of DIY with IKEA Stolmen system. The cost of the main post cost around $55 each and the shelves will cost around $20 to $30. I think it should be cheaper than Alumix. Any advice or comments on the IKEA system? Rachel
  7. Hi Mrs_Png, Thanks for sharing the price & the info. In fact the cost of those "Free Gifts" are all factored into the package. !! We found it too good to be true when we received the quotation and begin to feel a bit worry of the workmanship and hidden costs. So far the reno had been going quite smoothly and fast, better pray hard on the final look.
  8. Hi Mrs_Png, May I know how much you paid for down light? It is single tube or double tube and where u get it from? Thanks Rachel
  9. Hi gadgetman, Thanks for the rough guide. I will ask my ID to quote. by the way does your mirror come with wooden backing? Nice foyer area and water fixture you having. Hope to visit your house somday.
  10. Hi, Can anyone tell me what will be rough cost of installing a frameless full height mirror (6ft x 8ft)? I am intent to install one in the dinner area. Any advices or comments will be great appreciated. Rachel
  11. Yes my flat is currently done by them now. My ID is quite an easy going guy and we are comfortable with him. They are pretty fast & the workmanship is acceptable. So far no complain yet, hope my reno will work out quite smoothly.
  12. Hi Jacky777 Kitchen top solid surface was quoted at $65 pfr. Internal material of wardrobe was not discussed, so not sure abt material use. Yes just signed with *spam*.
  13. Finally signed up with *spam* (*** Design) on 5th Mar, hope that my choice is correct. So far, everything seems in schedule. They had shifted the sand, cement and tiles up on Friday. Laying of floor area should be able to start on Monday. Quite impress with their service so far. On-site final quote on Tue and later same day tile choosing in Balestier Road. As I can't make up my mind on which tiles, then my ID help in asking samples from 2 shops to bring back. After testing the samples with maker pen and coffee stains, I had my name signed on the dotted line on Wed. Then my ID told us he will schedule sand and tiles to be up on Fri so that laying can start on Mon. At first I don't buy his words but after checking my flat on Sat afternoon, well quite true I saw the sand, cements and tiles laying in my flat. And so far only 10% payment was paid. That is what I call service. !! Let hope everything will go on smoothly as planned.

  16. Hi 79A Kakis, I believe some of those staying @79A had collected keys around this time will have their Reno started as well. Most probably will be able to shift in around April, right? Now my concern, is it good to move in around Chinese QingMing Festival? I heard from some old folks, shifting around QingMing & Ghost Month is not advisable. kind to share your views & comments.
  17. I hope I am wrong too but I can't find the promotion banner on their website since last week. And as Blk 79A was last to collect the keys and I afraid we had missed the FREE Water Heater. I am having the same planning as you with the Instant Heater in MBR toliet and the FREE gas heater in the common toliet except I don't find it is necessary to spend extra$$ on the box up of the gas pipe.
  18. Hi Soudezne, I hope I am wrong but are you sure that the FREE Gas Water Heater promotion is still on. I had checked the citygas website and the promotion ended around Jan, but I hope I am wrong.
  19. Try checking this blog: http://timesofmylife.wordpress.com/2007/08...g-at-toa-payoh/ and a bit of History of Toa Payoh back in the 1970s: http://www.can.com.sg/neocan/en/streetwise...records/15.html I have been happily staying in Toa Payoh Central since 1972. Well I do miss the old Bus Interchange & the Old Bus Terminal in the late 1970s too. Anyone here still remember the old "Heng A Keng Mong' primary school. I had been walking pass the old Blk 79 everyday during my primary school time and can't believe now I will be staying in the New Blk 79.
  20. Hi Mapleleaf, Maybe you can try getting the poles from NTUC (opp. the Toa Payoh Entertainment Centre). Just go to the 2nd level at the last section where they sell Toliet paper. I had seem them selling both the bamboo & aluminium types but I am not too sure about the pricing.
  21. Hi Josephine, Thanks for the 'Open House', will meet you later.
  22. I like your living room, there are twice as big as mine. But the MBR seems as small as 4rm after squeezing the bed & wardrobe, how to walk?
  23. Hi Redwyrm, I am trying Not to use an Housing Agent unless I am really rushing to sell off the current flat. If I managed to sell off on my own I will be able to save 2% Agent commission and these 2% saving can buy a lot of furnitures. The seminar will look at Buyer & Seller point of views and this will prevent we from being conned by Agent in rushing to close the deal. The Agent will receive 2% from seller & 1% from buyer, that is easy money for Agent. No offend to all Housing Agents, just trying to save some money for furnitures.
  24. I would suggest you attend the 1/2 day HDB Resale Seminar to have a better understanding of the transactions. I attended mine in Dec and never regret, the seminar was very informative and the $25 fee was well worth. The flat valuation can always wait, I listed my flat on mocca and efair. So far the responds is not bad, we had few viewing & offer. I guess you should start selling and have a feel of the market. Good luck and enjoy the hide & seek game.
