Supreme Laminated Flooring
Cokelight replied to gumbokins's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Hi Supreme website is not so updated. I went to their factory to see and the colours are more than the website. I insisted that my ID bring me to Supreme factory to see the samples b4 i finalise on Supreme. Later on, we also met Supreme workers at our house and another time when they come back for some minal rectifications. I cannot remember whether we see the Supreme box or not but quite sure it is Supreme. -

I tink Kelvin want to concentrate on his current customers first before he accept any new assignments. If you call him now most likely you be rejected. If want to call him maybe wait until after CNY if your reno is not in a rush. -
Best food at AMK: Western food - S11 (near Mos burger Jubilee) & S22( next to Macdonalds near AMK hub) Fried Hokken Mee - AMK Hub foodcourt Fried Guo Tiao - S11 Fish ball noodles - S11 & S22 (same branch) Cai Fan stall - S11 (best i eaten anywhere) BBQ Chicken Wing - the only stall at AMK centre is S22 (next to mac) For AMK hub foodcourt, here are the recommended stalls:- 1) Fried Hokkien mee 2) Thai food 3) BBQ chicken / sotong (Ayam style - indonesian style) 4) Korean food 5) Zhu Chao stall 6) Claypot stall - best is claypot rice. the rice is better than the claypot soup ones. Non-recommended food in AMK hub foodcourt 1) Fish soup/noodles stall (not nice) 2) Japanese food stall (yuck) 3) Fish ball stall (so-so average) As for restaurants at AMK Hub, basically ALL have LONG QUEUE. New York, New York & Fish & Co is the worst longest queue. Soup restaurant at B2 also have long queue. Japanese rest next to fish & Co also long queue. The thai restaurant at first floor is v nice but small restaurant so cannot cater to too many people too. Fast food is forever no space. For cafes, can try coffee bean at B1 and the cafe next to Cinema. Alternative if u went to AMK HUb and cannot find a restaurant to eat:- 1) Go to Japanese restaurant near ex-OCBC bank at AMK Centre - in between AMK hub and Jubilee. It is located at the HDB shop houses. Most meals cost $5 and free flow of green tea. Walk around 5min from AMK hub. 2) Go to Pizza hut (next to KFC) - walk around 10min from AMK hub. It is along the row near Courts. 3) Go to Jack Place (but skip this on weekend night) - weekday nights should have space but weekend night maybe no space also. Next to Courts only. 4) Go to Japanese noodles restaurant (sorry forget the name) - at Jubilee next to mos burger.

Best Hotels To Hold Wedding Banquet? Reasons Pls!
Cokelight replied to cookie's topic in Wedding & Travel
HI i attend a colleague wedding at Peony Jade. food is nice. The first problem is the service is not v good. Fish, the staff never cut for us. And they didn't change the plates for us, somemore put the sharks fin soup on our dirty plates (from 1st dish). Service is not good. 2nd prob is the place is inconvenient bec' there is no nearby parking or drop off area. Taxi has to drop me off at clark quay road and i have to walk 15min to the restaurant. The restaurant also hard to find, several guests lost their way. So overall, i dun tink it is worth. If u want restaurant, I will recommend the Harbourfront restaurant (i tink is call riverside or something) which have a branch at Excelsior hotel. Both are nice food, nice ambience, good and convenient location and good pricing. Tunglok i will not recommend cos their banquet food quality is not v good. Amara hotel, i went for my colleague wedding just recently. Food is nice. Ambience not bad. Service a bit lacking. Our table - the turning plate (if u know the plate in the middle which is fix to the table where u can roll around to reach the food u want) is spoilt and they change halfway for us, it was quite messy. Other than tat disturbance, i find it overall good. Grand plaza is where i hold my wedding. The food is fantastic, the wedding planner does so much for us that we dun have to fret or worry anything abt details, ambience is good. MY colleagues even told me the food is better than fullerton and other high class hotels. Plus the hotel is new. However, best that u check whether their food is still supply by Si Chuan Dou Hua cos i heard recently that the restaurant is not there already (could be mistake also). Plaza Parkroyal - i just attended my good fren wedding last mth. Food is fantastic. Ambience is good. Service is good, the waiter change plates every round and cut the fish nicely for us. -
You have to write to HDB to seek special permission. They do give exceptions but case by case basis.

Before marriage, sometimes should give the guy some test to check whether he honour his promise. On housework, I will recommend that ladies if want their hb to help out, have to adopt the following approach:- 1) Before marriage, discuss on housework roles 2) To accept that guys are not as meticulous as gals on housework, so their 'quality of cleaning' may not be same as gals standard. Their perception of cleaniness is also different so they may 'tolerate' one item for longer than gals. The best way is to 'ren' and dun do tasks that is meant / promised by your hb (unless he is really v tired after work / special circumstances), bec' once u cannot tolerate and take over, then he may take it for granted in future. 3) Ensure that both is comfortable with the level of housework. If any is unhappy, should talk nicely to the other party to settle the issue. I think it is important to ensure hb help out on housework bec' in the event if wife got pregnant or fall sick etc, the house will not become a "depreciating" look.

Dear all, I will discuss with other mods on this matter. Don't lose your cool, cheers

Btw, for your information, no one can bought a new HDB flat if they owe a private property. Thats under HDB rules and regulations. If I am not wrong, Korea has posted abt her wedding preps 2 year ago. 2 years ago when my reno is doing, her flat is ored done and she is doing her wedding preps. 2 years now, and still the same?? Maybe it be good that everyone keep to the topic of this discussion (place to take photoshoot), than to discuss other items non-related.

Women can be visual too i guess. Not all women are able to accept bald, foul mouth and fat man. Depends on what type of women too. Men can be less visual too, some men are not so bothered by looks (maybe a lesser degree). It is better to find men who are less visual (regardless whether you are pretty or not) so tat one day when u r preggy, he does not find 'external entertainment'.

Recommended that before marriage, discuss on the role of housework, kids and marriage values to make sure that things are talk through b4 committing on paper. Men tend to take things for granted, stop their engine and park after marriage. Before wedding I have already discuss with my hb that we will distribute our housework. So he will vacuum and mop the floor, iron his own clothes & clean the toilet & WC. I wash the clothes & hang them, cook dinner (occasional). Though washing clothes seem easy but can be v tiring as it is daily work (we have small space for hanging of clothes). He does cleaning on floor every 2 weeks, i dunno if any one can tahan but since i am lazy i just close one eye on the flooring I will say my hb is v nice on housework, not many men will do housework. The key is to discuss this before wedding, dun discuss when u find the problem crop up after marriage then complain and lead to quarrel etc.

To Have Or Not To Have?
Cokelight replied to cheesecake's topic in Pregnancy,Parenthood and Education Matters
Yup thats why I dun tink women shd be full time housewife unless really no one to take care of kids. Cos the hb will push everything to wife to take care. Then kid will also become v attached to mother (cos 80% he see mum more than dad) and become harder for father to take over too. -

Gynae said it will worsen from week 8 to week 12, so be careful. If the effect worsen, see gynae to take medicine. -

Cokelight replied to Cabbage77's topic in Pregnancy,Parenthood and Education Matters
Hi gynae recommend not more than 1 cup per day. HI the prob is worst with an empty stomach. The trick is to eat but dun eat a lot, just eat a bit like biscuit here and there and dun drink water immediately after food. Eat more meals but less amount per meal. Drink warm water (warm water not cold water) and sip them a bit by bit, dun drink a lot at one time. Avoid food that makes yr stomach bloated, e.g. starch, fried food, fast food/burger, milo or things with milk/soya milk. If it is really worst, see a gynae to take some medicine to stop vomitting. If you vomit too much, drink some 100plus to replendish the salt tat u lose while vomitting. These are what i read from books and tried before.. see if it works for u. As for Sinseh, my mum recommend dun eat chinese medicine bec' she say her gynae last time said drink chinese medicine may lead to bb having "Huang Dan Bing". My colleague has some prob during delivery and she suspect is due to chinese sinseh medicine.. If u see a gynae, she will have medicine for u to take for morning sickness (terrible case type), so i suggest u see a gynae and get her recommendation. -
To Have Or Not To Have?

Last week I went to one wedding dinner. There are 2 couples with small kids at the same table. Couple A, the hubby never help his wife with the kid until at the vegetable dish. His wife never ate anything until the vegetable dish came, the hb then take the kid out and wife grobble up the vegetables looking so hungry, and quickly drink her cold shark fin etc. The hb keep talking to other people and ignore the kid most of the time. Couple B, both couple help each other and take turns to eat and talk. I see the wife of couple A like v jiat lat, dun have time to eat.. The hb is so lazy didnt' even help much.. upon chatting with the wife realise that she is housewife - maybe the hb rely on her too much to handle the kid. I say women who sacrifice for the kid and family is pityful.. and i say any husband who dun help their wife in taking care of kids is really.. no words to say. -

Where u get yr special pool table? it is really nice and me being an ardent pool lover, see this pool table also gian. After stayed in our house officially for 1 year (but 1.5 years after renovation), and being one of the first few forummers taking Kelvin service, so far so good on the workmanship. We knew Kelvin way back when he just joined Gplan not long ago (way back we didn't know). We actually went to IMM to look at another ID shop (the one who does Vivian Lai house) but was upset as no one attend to us even when we waited outside the shop. I was then debating with my hb to get more quotes from other ID shops especially the bigger shops, somehow my hb has the impression that big shops charge more expensive but actually, later we find that the shop size does not matter. Kelvin saw us debating outside Gplan and ask us in, get to see some photos of completed houses, materials etc, quotation package details. hb didn't have a good impression at first cos he find Kelvin is a bit pushy, while I find that Kelvin has some good design sense bec' I tested him during our discussion (me being in the real estate line..). Since then we seen Kelvin for 5 times and went to see other completed houses / renovation halfway before we sign on. I will say after staying in our house for 1 year, no apparent defect but these are the items that can be improved: 1) Kitchen cabinet drawers doesn't seem to be able to hold much weight, some are made of pvc rollers so it can't hold much weight of my heavy plates. 2) Kitchen cabinet doors near oven should be glass (due to heat the door will bulge) but Kelvin has already solved the prob for us 3) Shoe Cabinet - I recall telling Kelvin to leave a gap between the door or some opening so the shoes inside can breathe.. but the shoe cabinet is seal fully when closed, so my shoes tend to spoilt more easily (as shoes need to be air). As an alternative, i open the door leaving a gap sometimes. 4) Bathroom floor tiles - as an alternative to save our money Kelvin suggest not to change the original HDB floor tiles. Now i find the floor tiles are v porous and catch dirt easily, should have overlay the HDB floor tiles last time.. 5) Master bathroom vanity top - I dunno is it because Cresto is not v good or wat, but the water stain marks appear v easily on the top or maybe bec it is black so water mark stains are v obvious. Regret choosing this colour (blame on myself cos Kelvin did tell me not to choose black). 6) Kitchen top - already i dunno why leave a stain on the kitchen top and cannot be removed.. dunno is bec' top is porous or wat.. but our white top (with some designs) have became yellowish over time.. i will suggest dun choose white for yr solid surface. 7) Laminated platform **** room - as i told Kelvin before i wanted round edges but he gave me square edges so many a time i nearly trip over the square edge and hurt myself.. but i guess we live with the problem its a minor one actually.. Other than the above i think there are some minor items but i will say his service is really very good and the workmanship is overall acceptable and good. Just that he tend to be more meticulous so he tend to drag renovation a bit overtime.. there is one thing to note but he gave good product after the wait so its worth it.. and he is conscenitious to check through.. really check a lot. But u must mind his attitude a bit, he can be a bit ah beng cheong hai sometimes but as u know him better, he is actually quite nice. Most importantly he is quite honest (i will say honest compared to others) n frank (thats why some others cannot tahan him). Other things tat I like of our renovation:- 1) I like the lights done up by Kelvin and variety of lights. I find that i can on and off some lights to create a nice movie effect while watching our big TV screen. The kitchen top extra light is also v useful for cooking and preparing food. I also like the Bellari stove and hood, the stove is easy to clean and hood suction is good (no oil when i do deep frying). The double and deep sink is good for washing plates after a meal. 2) I like the feature wall he done up to cover up our home shelter. Many time we forget there is a home shelter and no visitor knows where is our home shelter. 3) I like the laundry area he done up for me (though maybe it should be bigger) which allows me to hide laundry behind the false wall and not from visible view when people look at the kitchen. 4) I like the bedroom door handle he does personally for us - is nice and really dun make the door look hdb door & still cheap. 5) I like the living room homogeneous tiles he recommended, is nice and easy to clean. 6) The supreme laminated floor look nice and cosy -
Hi, Actually the ang chuan procedure does not constitute putting mattress on bedframe. I do my ang chuang after putting my mattress on bedframe. If your bed has already been sleep on, just move the bed can also consist of ang chuan process. Therefore, if you have already sit on yr mattress but have not sleep on it, u can probably still carry out the procedure. If in doubt, consult a master. Our ang chuan procedure is advice frm our master (same master who give us the date and time).

Wow nice pictures from hencpu! I see liao also gian.. Actually in fact I think being of the pioneer batch our design is not as good as the rest of the members taking Kelvin service. He has so much improvements after ours.. so sometimes a bit sian after seeing the fotos put up by you all haaa. But we like our home and is satisfied with Kelvin's after sales service.. cos after 1 year of reno he will still attend if we faced probs. Recently heard from a fren that she picked another ID cos of cheaper quotation but end up the final bill is much higher than the quotation from Kelvin (oops if u are reading this posting dun be upset ) cos the ID add this and that.. for one thing our quotation = final bill. Kelvin never add any extra cost to us unless we request for extra item. And any probs u complain more he will attend. However of course there are cons of his service.. our reno took quite long, it take 5 mths to complete and that time there is no personal prob etc, just tat it is peak period. Then sometimes his design sense is so strong that he must design nice nice for us but we wanted practicality over design for some aspects. So therefore, some items in my house now are not so practical and i will scold Kelvin at times haaaaa like the cosy corner has sharp edges and i told him to design circular but he say it does not fit in the design layout of my house so he provide a square one but has sharp corners. Many times i nearly tripped over the edge.. Then the shoe cabinet, i told him not to put the strips of wood cos it is easier to sit near the door but he put the strips of wood for design.. so now we dun use the seatee (cos the strip of wood block the entrance of door to seatee).. basically not so practical.. and he never give us any holes for the shoe cabinet so our shoes no air!.. shoes spoil more easily lor. So both pros and cons lah.. overall satisfied with his service and he is a nice person. -

I notice furniture mall business is not very good. Several times we went there, didn't see customers around. But we didn't encounter shops asst 'pulling' us in. Our bed frame is ordered from La Cafa (ground floor shop) which i find generally not bad cos they customise furniture at a reasonable price. Our King size bed frame is about $1K and they throw in a wardrobe with discounted top up. Then we also order our dining table from budget furniture (1st flr) also quite ok. For IMM, i find the competition is more stiff though there are more customers and flow therefore maybe not so stressed for customers. -
