  1. Congrats, fellow 79er. Your floorplan quite similar to mine. Only diff is the MBR toilet.
  2. Aircons to me are more of a luxury than a neccessity. Somemore aircons consume much more electricity (no matter how much ticks it has) than a fan. My new flat is very windy even in the day. At night, although humid at times, just on a fan should suffice.
  3. The delivery is done by Sin Tai staff but the installation is done by Sony staff. Installation can only take place 3 days after the purchase of the TV because Sony staff need to schedule one. Installation for me took less than 10 minutes and so far, no problem for me.
  4. I have a family of 4 but we seldom eat together at home one. And we only have rice cooker and hot flask, so the space should be more than enough.
  5. Yup, tension_z is right. The sink, which is coming this weekend, is at the other site of the "L", beside the washing machine area. The bottom right hand, with the empty space below, is my dining top. Just bought 2 bar stools today which will form my mini dining area.
  6. I wasn't told which block was it. But I'm sure that they are always outsiders loitering around the renovating flats. If you use key padlock, then it's still okay. For me, I use number padlock so I'm in a riskier situation than you.
  7. The workmanship of the kitchen cabinet was good. During my 1st inspection of the kitchen cabinet, I saw a door not straight and the gap between the other door was too big. I informed my ID and within a day, the fault was fixed. Oh yah... From what I heard from my ID, there was a case of housebreaking in one of the renovating units so all future residents do take care of the security of your flats.
  8. Day 42 Progress Things are going a bit slow at the moment as my renovation is coming to an end soon. I predict everything will be done by next week. All my carpentry works are completed. What's left now are the installation of toilet accessories, kitchen sink and minor touchups. Today went up to my unit to supervise the wall mounting of my TV as well as look at the completed carpentry works. Completed kitchen cabinet. PD doors at the kitchen and MBR. TV wall mounted.
  9. I think your ID should have his own preferred electrician and maybe cheaper too. For the above, I think less than S$1000 can liao.
  10. I don't know how thick is your tile but for me, I did not need to do anything to my door or main gate during tiling. But as for your 2nd question, my kitchen wasn't flushed with the living room thus I did up a kerb to make it look nicer.
  11. Really hope that it's worth it when the goods arrive.
  12. Today went on another shopping spree to purchase my furnitures. I remembered seeing a newspaper advertisement from Brighton Furniture awhile back and I decided to pay them a visit since the showroom is at Toa Payoh too. Here are the damages; Vinyl L-shaped sofa - S$868 Black glass coffee table - S$349 MBR tv console - S$599 Shoerack - S$188 Glass PC table - S$438 Black office chair - S$138 Dressing table - S$399 Queen sized Maxcoil Executive Deluxe mattress with bedframe - S$1399 Bedroom 2 wardrobe - S$299 Bedroom 3 wardrobe - S$599 Total damages - S$5645.32 (with 7% GST) Didn't shop around to compare prices as I was too lazy and the furnitures are definitely cheaper than Courts. The delivery will be 2 weeks from now and I will post more photos when they come.
  13. Yup, it is indeed very small due to the layout of the MBR. If I were to place the wardrobe in the main area with my queen sized bed, there will be hardly any other spaces for other furnitures.
  14. Look at my floorplan, I shifted the MBR door further out (away from the living area) , making space for a wardrobe at the area between the MBR door and toilet.
  15. No problem, applefreak. Day 38 Progress Today went to find a 37" TV for my TV but in the end got a 40" TV instead. I bought a 40" Sony Bravia KLV40V300A at a price of S$1,879 but got plenty of vouchers, S$200 Choice voucher, S$300 Sony Ericsson voucher and S$120 NTUC voucher. Felt that it was a good deal not to be missed. For those interested, you can check out the store Tai Sin at Toa Payoh Central. Went up to my flat afterwards and saw quite a few new additions. Here they are; 3/4 completed kitchen cabinet. The dining top which I requested. Left the support yet to be completed. Top kitchen cabinet. My black tempered glass kitchen hob. Featured wall and TV console. MBR wardrobe.

  17. I remembered Danny saying got 10% off on all swaroski crystal lights. Can try asking Eurostar.
  18. Thanks, applefreak. Luckily my S$230 for the crystal not wasted.

  20. Yah lo... Maybe is see purple in my dreams, that's why it's called purple dream. Day 36 Progress Went up to my flat after work today during the night time so that I can see my newly installed lights in action. If you happened to look up Blk 79A and see lights turning on and off, that's my flat. Living room ceiling fan. PLC lights. Household shelter light. Kitchen light. Toilet light. Bedroom 2 light. Bedroom 3 light. MBR entrance light. MBR main light. MBR cove light. Foyer Swaroski light before switching on. Foyer Swaroski light after switching on.
  21. Day 35 Progress Today popped into my flat to take a look on how's the progress. Painting is almost completed, just some minor touchups. The lights also came in today. Got a couple of broken bulbs which I will be exchanging. Today, the electricians will install some of the lights too. Will post the lights again once they are all installed. Living/Dining Room Bedroom 2 Bedroom 3 Master Bedroom Sorry for the lousy quality of the photos. Basically the living/dining area is white, bedroom 2 is desert wind, bedroom 3 is powder puff and MBR is purple dream. All are Dulux Light and Space paint. But it seems that powder puff is too dark until it seems like petal pink to me. Purple dream also can't be seen very clearly in the photos too.
  22. Once I step into the kitchen, to the right is the fridge, followed by the kitchen cabinet cum dining bar top. The MBR door was shifted further in (closer to the room) to make space for the wardrobe which is to be constructed on the inside wall. The recess area which I filled up is in the kitchen. Yeah... I'm glad that my renovation is zipping like lightning. If not for the wait of hacking, I think by now would have been completed. Really glad with the progress of my ID too. Coming Monday noon installation of lights.
  23. My bulb for the PLC light is 3 tube 18w because my PLC only can hold one bulb. Therefore Danny recommended me to use the 3 tube 18w to make it brighter. I didn't compare 2 x 13w against 1 x 18w at the shop so I don't know which is brighter. Yes, the Swaroski light is also bought at the same shop.
  24. Today came back with my pocket deeply burnt! Bought S$2k worth of lights (my original budget was S$1,500) from Eurostar Lighting, served by Danny. Here's some of the buys for the day. 08x PLC with 18W bulbs and ballast costing S$35.63 each. 02x Milo Can Lights for both toilets costing S$26.96 each. Crestar 52" ceiling fan with remote control costing S$250.383 Swaroski Melody Crystal Light (for entrance false ceiling) costing S$230, originally S$255.73. Total cost was around S$2.2k but he brought it down to S$2k as discount. The rest of the lights I will post when they are installed as I cannot find their photos online. Personally I feel that the fan was expensive but I was too lazy to go anywhere else to buy. Really like the Swaroski light. Wonder how it would look like in actual.
