  1. New toilet and bathroom wall and floor tiles. Most of the accessories are not mounted yet.
  2. Went to SBH in Toh Guan Road and Hafary at Tradehub. SBH display is bigger and the showroom is spacious so I chose my tiles from them. Photos show the hacked toilet and bathroom (in old HDB flat, the toilet and bathroom are separated and my master bedroom has no bathroom).
  3. I did not get any ID as I do not have much budget. The first person I engaged in early Oct was an electrician for rewiring the whole flat as it is 30+ years and previous owner never did any new wiring. After that I found a contractor for kitchen, toilet, bathroom works and painting work. It was a tiring journey in coordination and if I have the budget next time, I would have engaged an ID all in all, I have contracted 3 people for quotes. One which I read from Dayre has some good advice but quote is quite high above my budget. Another one (formerly from quite a well known firm) refused to send me his quote and insisted on meeting first but stood me up twice (I guess I was really patient as I am not in a hurry) and only apologised when I asked him why he didnt turn up or text/call me. So I chose my current contractor who quoted me quite reasonably but no freebies Let's start with electrical rewiring. I didnt know I have to plan the electrical layout and it was the most disliked thing in the renovation. My quotes for wiring is quite okay I think eg single power point at 45 and double at 55. These quotes come with basic switch casings (not sure what you call that) I decided on a 2 way switch between Bedroom 2 and 3 for the Living Room ceiling light as I do not wish to walk in the dark back to my room.
  4. I started from knowing nothing about renovation. Didnt know there is so much involved even if I do not renovate the whole flat. Original flat condition (some photos)
  5. Hi I started reading the T blogs after getting the keys for a 4room resale flat. Reno is just half done with most of the carpentry not confirmed yet. Initially plan not to change kitchen and toilet wall tiles and floor tiles but changed anyway. This is my floorplan. Only problem is there is no designated dining area. The previous owner place their dining table in the kitchen.
  6. Hi The furniture are nice! Where are they from? Shop or online?
  7. Just take your time to choose and buy furniture, just get your basics for now able to shower, use WC, sleep and a fridge and washer are enough to move in. We will also get the other furniture and TV later. Will only have a bed and sofa for moving day. Had drained my savings. Didnt get loan (a bit regretful). Going down to this Brilliant Source Lightings. It seems they have a big range of Dalen lights and its the same price which you purchased. Gonna see how bright is the 415T for living room.
  8. I hope your electrician workers are not so dumb dumb to throw them Very nice cove lights, I bet it will look even nicer in the evenings. Too bad we dun like false ceilings. Can't wait to start my carpentry discussion in two weeks time. Only have this pic to share. My washer base done yesterday. Will you be doing any door for your kitchen entrance?
  9. So glad you are back! My kitchen, toilet and bathroom taking almost 10 working days to finish tiling, waterproofing and building cement bases and sink support haha. Your reno really fast! Dun have much advice for you at this moment. But do check they sealed up the window frame gaps with silicon properly. Mine in the bathroom was not sealed fully and there was a wet area on my bathroom wall before tiling because of the heavy rain. Lucky the tilers informed me. Will let you know when more work is done I do find our ceilings too low for fans. That's why I opt out and installed aircons in living room and all bedrooms. Anyway, it is usually quite windy with some windows open. Hope to see photos of your lights turned on soon. I like the inner laminate color of your wardrobe. What colour is that?
  10. Thanks for the PM How is your reno progress? No updates from you.
  11. Hihi I just went through my electrical layout with my electrician. Showed him the Philips normal light picture. He said this type not very bright coz of the cover. Showed him your Dalen light picture. He said 'yeah yeah this type very bright'. He just installed for someone. Told me to get this for living and bedrooms. Carmella, can pm me how much is the Dalen light? Dun think I can do taobao. Not enough time to wait.
  12. Thanks! Hope to see your photo of the toilet light soon was bent on your bedroom 3 lights for all bedrooms and kitchen when I visited Lightings.com.sg. Now I am attracted to your Dalen lights We need to purchase the ceiling lights in two weeks.
  13. Wow you really chop chop with your shopping. That remote controlled light sure looks impressive. I like your bathroom where did you get that open close valve?
  14. Nice living room tiles so glossy. I am retaining my living room homogenous tiles. Might engage someone to just polish. Got a quote of 650. Not sure if it is ex. Hmm..my preference is for all the cabinet doors to be the same. Looks nicer in my opinion. Where is your sink located at? I have not plan my kitchen carpentry. Only bought a Blanco Pleon and tap as well as a gas hob. Dunno if a hood is really useful.
  15. Thanks! I love my sofa too. Bought two other cushions in cream and beige online to match. Hope to see more pictures posted by you as mine will be slow (contractor away for two weeks holiday in Oct). All the best to your reno Gumbokins's link made me tempted to get a new gate too
  16. Hi Slashmylove, what kind of downlight you bought? Is it suitable for bathroom? I only need to buy one as the bathroom is the only one with an existing false ceiling.
  17. I am getting my ceiling lights from Lightings.com.sg. Simple Philips round lights for living room, bedrooms and kitchen. Not sure if you are looking at simple designs.
  18. Thanks! We are doing Nippon colours Sailwhite and Misty. Not changing the gate but will redo the main door frame and laminate the main door. If we change the original fire rated door, a new one would cost $$$$. So laminating it is the cheaper option. A full length shoe cabinet?? Wow you sure have many pairs of shoes. I plan to have the shoe cabinet behind the door. Have attached my sofa pic. Very simple looking sofa. We can only have blue, grey, black, whites, cream, off whites, beiges in the living room as per fengshui.
  19. Which colours do you paint your walls? I love our windows. No need to switch on lights during the day.
  20. Hi, I am lazy to start a blog The flat is hacked in the kitchen area, wc area and shower area. Plastering is because of the rockstone effect which I dislike. It's on the walls and ceilings of the 3 bedrooms and living room, as well as the kitchen ceiling and wc ceiling. Tiling will start this week. I chose tiles from SBH. Have not plan carpentry. But plan to place the tv console along the wall of the main door. The sofa to be placed opposite the tv console. I heard its better to have the sofa against a wall. Dining table will be against the short wall between kitchen and bedroom. Mine also went HIP a couple of years ago but I dun like the tiles and the previous owners didnt maintain well. My sofa size is only 1.9 to 2m. I am also not doing any false ceilings. Removed the existing simple cornices in living room. I also tried looking for same layout designs. Dun see any till I came across one under Space Atelier FB posts. You can take a look. Exact same layout
  21. Hi, Your layout is exactly the same as mine except that I have an extra utility room at the back. Mine just started hacking and plastering. Kept the original homogenous tiles in living room.
