I find that when we do a bit of our personal matters once and then, its quite alright (let's say only 30% or less per month). But doing own personal matters at at least 50% or more, it is really unreasonable. My company is a relative small UK based company with foreign directors located overseas and currently sales manager in charge of the whole Sin office. But man, he is constantly doing his own personal matters, buy new car, spare parts, house, insurance, friends ocassional gatherings, etc, in our office. As company is open concept, I can hear most of his conversations. As for the other 'Technical Executive', take his own sweet time to do work, sleep, bring his hobby (remote aeroplanes) to fix/assembly, etc. So basically, not much sales in company due to SM not so much into visiting customers and asking for more sales. Most of the sales quotations are being 'taiji' over to me to do, even those technical enquiries, which I am cuckoo about. My most basic duties are order processing, doing simple quotations, admin, book keeping and HR. Now, I have to do almost everything, and even got told off by customers when I don't the technical details they are looking for, all thanks to the above mentioned. Only when one director is here to visit, then they will pretend to do more on work. It is really very bad environment to work in, but due good directors and overseas colleagues, I stayed on, even when there isn't any annual increments and extra bonuses. I had even sent out resumes and only when my director assured me he will do something to make working environment better and getting in another staff to help me with my sales load, I stop looking around. Yes, it is true, there are lots of working colleagues around, who are very wayang, selfish and attribute to responsible staff to resign. Just stating my 2 cents worth since I am also facing such problems at work.

Hi Gohkm, My parents in law is staying at Clementi Ave 4 (next to clementi ave6 expressway) since my hubby is only 3 yrs old (he is in early 30s). Hubby like Clementi so much (me as well, and stayed first two yrs with inlaws) and wanted to get a flat there. We were hoping to get a new flat where you have got yours in Year 2005, but they are not opened to ballot, thus looked around at 2nd hand ones which are as old as me. During that year, we had view one 6th floor 5room at blk 362 (near the clementi police station) selling at 368K. Very interested but a bit on high side during that year's market price. Before we can negotiate further, along came the ballot exercise for Redhill flats, and we managed to get a Redhill flat instead. Clementi is really a good place and consider 'Hub' for the west of Singapore. It is truly convenience even though a bit further away to town (actually can get to town at short time also), and I am sure my husband will not hesitate to shift back to this town in future to be near his parents. I am also ok with it even though my current place is nearer to the city. Yes, one look at 360K++ for your 2nd level flat seems to be expensive but 2nd look, I find it is worth it as this is a brand new flat, you are first owner. nearby amenities are good (near mrt, interchange, upcoming clementi hub, good schools, good makan places, etc). And although its on 2nd level, it is unblocked. Can be a bit noisy occassionally but as long as you are easy adaptable person, it should be alright. I am just posting my opinion. When I was pregnant, I was told to stay away from the long types. Can only eat the short and goreng pisang types. In the end, during that period, never eat much. Anyway, I am not really a 'banana' person but will try to take more since it is a brain booster. As for Del Monte, when I was in Seoul a few years ago, me and friend bought one bunch at going to S$6.00 (seven bananas). Really expensive as they are considered as imported tropical fruits there.

Hey, I stay at blk 73A. Early this year, I heard from two neighbours that all the incense burners (the stainless steel pot) are being stolen from the whole blk of neighbours. I think because the steel scrap price went up, the thevies stole them to sell at high profit. I also normally left my crocs outside during weekends but nobody wants to steal it. I actually listed reastaurants like dragon gate, prima tower, 88, and some of those I had attending dinner at and find quite good service and food with good price. I had just received a good news from the Bride to be, that her parents decided to drop the dinner thingy as she had wished. But still, will forward your valuable advices to her for back up. I regards, of her bridal, since now there isn't any dinner, I think she will want to go for a better one. Will send in the precious moment bs contact for her check with them, she has also got another 2 more contacts and hope they are enough for her to choose with. As for jewellery, I am sure she will get good value ones. Will definitely go for at least white gold/ platinum. She had already got a proper diamond proposal ring, so I think she is much better than Yellow's friend, who I am sad to hear their case. Yellow, I am very sure after they have been together sometimes in their marriage relationships, they will be able to follow up with an anniversary gold/platinum wedding rings. Seek high and low for it blindly and finally, sang the chorus part to friend's sis and she told me its 'I finally found someone'. Please recommend. I have a good friend who just received a proposal from her future husband, plans to get married early next year. I am sure they are since they are under PAP organisation. The PCF I registered my son in, are not being taught by aunties. I am sure even if they do not have the certificates, I am sure through their past experiences, they are capable to teach, Otherwise, PCF will not employ them since they are under part of government's wing. It is really up to each individual on how you look at things, the best arrangements, etc. to plan. So far, this is the best arrangement for us, unless my MIL is unable to take care of son, I will definitely place him in a childcare.

PCF does not offer playgroup, except for the branch at Toh Yi Drive area (Bukit Timah). You can check out from its website. As to regards playgroup, most of them are under private organisation, especially childcare centres which incorporate playgroup classes to choose from. Although the sessions are quite short on each day, the Teacher, class environment (cleanliness) and type of activities she plans for the children are very important. Get a few schools you are interested in, make appointment with them and discuss with the teacher and look around the facilities. Best to bring your kid around there to take a look and get him/her familarise with the school (you can more or less detech if your kid takes to the sch or teacher before you decide). For me, my son is currently attending playgroup. I search around my MIL hse area (son is currently taken care by her) and found one nearest to her in Clementi. Call it no choice, I had to registered him there asap last year regardless whether I like the teacher or the facilities or not coz it is very convenience for us, but hey, the teacher turns out very good, and my son's attitudes and learning skills improve a lot. On and off I will call teacher up to follow up on son's progress and so far, he is doing well. My only worries now is that next year, nursery for him will be at PCF with another different teacher. Hopes he can adapt in as well.

I sugest you go easy on the cereal, add in more water and then monitor. I had tried the nestle cereal on my son and find it a bit heaty for him. At this stage, maybe try to give him rice cereal, which is not so heaty. It will be good to squeeze fresh apple/pear fruit juice for her to drink ocassionally. Another thing we normally do when son got sick or too constipated, will be boil lots of water with rice (rice water) and let him drink as normal water. Try to give your baby as much water as possible. Hope above helps.

Wow, therat, where did you get so much information. I only goggled 'smoking in commercial buildings' and got 1 info. But then, as this colleague is related to Manager, I can't show manager the info and my director is based overseas and can't do anything about it. This colleague is smoking in a non-airconditioned warehouse area (storeroom) but there are lots of paper & wood materials in there. He likes to smoke while packing or doing his hobbies in there. In fact, Korea & Air, he has purple lips and is quite ah beng (ever seen a big tatoo on him) and he will put himself before considerating for others. But Korea, u sure smoking make pple fatter, and so far, the smokers I came across are those if they are , they go out 'pop pop' they will be much more alert! Haha, anyway, I will 'ren' for a few more months. I just checked that the new premises my company is shifting in, I will not get to smell the cigarette smell from store area. And that time, I can set some house rules about not smoking in our own bought premises. If he wants to smoke, outside to smoke

Yaya, those pple are the worst. In fact, there is a govt law that one is not to smoke in commercial buildings and I do believe that the building management does not allow. When I went to HQ in UK, I consulted HR and the immediate supervisor of SG office, they both mentioned that their law does not allow smoking in stores/manufacturing plants, and UK govt now looking at making pple to smoke at least 1 metre away from their working buildings/offices. But then, we are not really directly under the in charges from UK but under my holland director. He puts me in charge of this but also get me to be carefull of how to handle as the guys may be nasty to me. Korea and Air, it is true that smokers will ask us why we wont smoke as smoke can make you more alert, slim down, etc. But then, we, the 2nd had smoke smellers are the worst off compared to themselves. Every smell someone who is big burly and sweaty, who smokes every hours? I can tell you, I ever smell of and if I just had lunch, I may just puke out all my lunch, get the idea of the smell???

And then hoping for any kind friends/relatives buy for hsewarming, but chance low as we shifted in a year ago, haha, me like to daydream too much. Hi chew@pple, I will read books but not him. He does not like reading unless its about computer or work related or newspaper, he will (I though most guys also like that?) Anyway, I love reading, so maybe will try to get this book. Air, Korea, I have know a bit of him during dating times but did not stay in with him so not very sure about his 'true colours' before we married. Have been trying to change him or me changing to suit him, but it was very difficult. Maybe I have to try harder to change myself for a better relationship. Haiz, I feel that we women is very 'ku ming'. Especially with such asian mcp husbands, everything expect us to do, worst. When my holland director and UK colleagues heard that my husband is mcp and sometimes do not want to talk or share most housework, expect us to do most of the stuff, they were horrified and exclaimed that their partners/wives will get to them if they do not help out. Hi all, Thanks for your contributions. yoongf, I dun think it can work. Ever place his fan another direction and he put it back to the old direction. No point put up 'No smoking' signs around as he treats this office just a normal place he can do what he likes since my directors are in their own countries. Manager cannot do much as this guy do and talk what he likes, even to this manager. Air, I like that! I also cursed and swear that he smokes so much, better don't stay around for too long. But thing is, last time told him not to smoke so much and he said he likes. But I curse and swear inside my heart, his 2nd hand smoke flying around the whole office, I think the first person to go is me, as 2nd hand smoke more potent then his 1st hand which he inhaled. Korea, Ya, me like you, from non smoker family.IF friends or pple i associated with smokes in front of me but do it outside non-enclosed place, I feel still acceptable. In enclosed area plus the smell coming out of the smoker's body, it is the most unhealthy smell to me, yucks.

Is there anyone's office allow staff to smoke in office areas? I am facing such problems with a colleague who is very inconsiderate and unhelpful. This colleague, is a BIL of my sales manager. Since day one, he will smoke in the store adjoining office area (there is a door leading from office to store and I am sitting nearest to this door), will the shutters which are leading outside carpark closed and with an 'on' fan facing this door I am sitting to. This fan will blow all the 2nd hand smoke into office area and make the office smelly, my throat dry and my head throbbing with slight headache. Ever told him a no of times about it and to smoke with this door leading to office closed and shutters up and open, he still smokes with shutters down but after smoking, he will leave the ill fated door open and immediately all the happy 2nd hand smoke will rush into office to make me feel ill. Told my director, he can't do much as he is outstationed overseas and can't approach manager as he is very protective over this BIL of his. Is there any advice on what I can do? Wanted to send email cc everyone in but I sure get it from the two guys here (only three of us in the co) and a very bad thought, was to complaint to the main building management and or NEA but yet feel bad about it.

Hello gals, thanks for your advice. I haven't talk to him since Tue night till earlier he called to give me notice of when my aunt's computer arriving (he helped to order computer for aunt), and that's it. I know he is not very happy with me 1: Everyweekday evenings get him go fetch son from MIL hse. 2: I have been out some evenings last week (go gym and get stuff, met friend for dinner,etc) and early this week, UK colleague came so I brought him out for shopping dinner (coz he brought me shopping when I was in UK ) and last night went to pass stuff to another aunt. 3: His CC, I only used less than 200 bucks for my things, but not to forget, I fork out cash for his stuff which he asked me to buy last week. He is the type who looks at $$ very seriously. Good and bad. Good, coz he can provide me with this reno & furniture loan-free flat outside town area. Bad, I can't get more, and like diva79's friend's hubby, he said one kid enough. Not really all on $$ factor, also taking care of extra kid can be a headache. I am used to his cold shoulder attitude but if he gives me this sort of attitude, tells me to grow up and be independant but he expects me to do stuff for him and sayang him, sorry, it will be very difficult as he is contradicting himself. As couple, we should share and talk anything under the sun, but he doesn't want to share news, conversation topics. He will rather watch TV, computer and when I talk or ask him things when he doing either, or during mealtimes, he can say 'Can't you see I am busy? Wait till I am not then tell me'. I got this even when he was just resting. I am not alone, when he was single, he treated his family like that as well. Marriage counselling, I am still scouting around. One of the days will go. As for now, endure and just ignore is still the best medicine for me. But I share all these stuff here is because at least you gals are there to hear me out, I do not have many friends, aunts who will really understand. Thanks for sharing your advices

Most friends and younger relatives may give gifts. But older folks may give Ang pao since you invited them. I am not very sure but if someone give you gifts or ang pao, please accept as it is also consider your big day and it is always polite to accept gifts rather than telling them no you can't accept. Not very nice, in my own consideration. As for the Hi-tea, it is nice! lots of nonya and some chinese/ local cuisine plus western cakes and sashimis, raw oysters, chocolate fondue for all. Went there two months ago and planning to go again next month as their spread is quite good. Remember if you see the satays, grab a bunch. They always finished within mins they are brought out.
