  1. The largest outlet is at Compass Point at Sengkang. But the outlet at Tiong Bahru Plaza also has quite a few. There are also other furniture stores like Silver River (Paya Lebar) and Beng Tuan (Genting Road)..... all have pretty nice looking sofas at reasonable prices. It is something that you will probably spend a lot of time on... better make sure you get the one that you like... and at good value. Good luck!
  2. Please give Seahorse Hecom a try before you settle on a sofa...especially with Courts. Hecom has leather sofas at under $800. My experience with Courts is that the good ones are never cheap and the cheap ones are never good. In fact.... just about everything from furniture to electronics... one can find better deals elsewhere... at least within my own experience. Sofas are not just about price and cover materials... the interior construction determines how comfortable and durable the sofa will be. That's why places like Carrefour can offer sofas for $300 in the past... these things simply cannot make it. !! Seahorse is quite a trusted brand by many and they are pretty good at producing furniture with durable form fillings. Their range may not suit everyone, of course. But at their competitive prices and quality... it is certainly worth a look before you buy from Courts. My two cents.
  3. We did not care about their service. We found what we want and the sales person volunteered to wavie delivery charge. I just hope that the goods will be delivered safe and sound, and without issues. !!
  4. They have many different types... cheaper ones are made of plastic covers. Other than the models I have mentioned, all other models are at 20% discount. I did not find the platinum colour 12L in Robinsons though... that was only available in OG at $66. But I was at the Centrepoint branch... so I don't know about Raffles City. Anyways... hope you find what you want.
  5. My wife prefers buckwheat pillow so I got her one yesterday. she loves it.... and it costs less than S$50. As for me... well... since I am in no hurry, I may shop for a memory form pillow when I am in the US for business next month. Luxury goods are usually cheaper there... and I can test them while I am there!
  6. Not at all. Jimmy Textiles is not the cheapest in town and comes with a decent reputation. You should not expect anything less. Now I am a bit worried. Mine will be up by 1 March. Keeping my fingers crossed. Do share your photos when you have them. Thanks.
  7. Oh dear... what was the problem? You have pictures to share??
  8. Yes... the exact same brand. I think the platinum colour is really cool. Definitely like it better than the silver version.
  9. Happen to be at SITEX for look see look see. The prices by Audio House was $1699 which is higher than my quote from CEC at $1590. So wife and I started walking off to see something else. Then... one guy stood up on a platform and started shouting that the very model that we are eyeing at was having special promotion... 7 sets going for $1499! We think it's fate lor... since we like it... might as well buy there and then. haha....
  10. Was at OG 2 hours ago.... their 12L platinum matt surface cost just $66!
  11. Jimmy himself is actually holding the fort at his shop at Joo Chiat Complex. This big boss has several shops! Usually, curtain makers don't go down to your place just to give you a quote. You should bring along your floor plan and maybe take some pictures. After choosing the materials, they can quote you quite accurately with that. They have seen all sorts of windows and can suggest many alternatives. When you sign with them, then they will go down to make precise measurements. Jimmy said there are now new types of blackout curtains that are washable. Lots of materials to choose from. When it was time for my home's measurement.....a Benz drove under my block and it was none other than Jimmy hmself that came to take measurements of my place! Wow... I was so surprised. He said he was on the way. When I was at the shop, I did not know he was Jimmy until we finalised everything and he was making out the invoice ... then I asked for his name. Very successful but very humble guy.
  12. Yup... compared quotes from all these shops including Goh Ah Bee... CEC still better. Of course, I can't claim for all TV models... but no harm adding CEC into your list of quotation requests. It was recommended by a friend... and their quote for my TV was $100 cheaper than Hong Liang's. However, I end up buying mine from SITEX instead.
  13. For those fans of Brabantia bins... I just saw that Robinsons is now having a promotion on some of the models: 12L brilliant steel (shiny type) going for $79.80 (org $118) 30L white steel going for $118 (org $178) 20L platinum (matt surface, which I think the colour is way cool) is going for $98.80 (org $148) They also have even larger bins going for $200+ (org $300+) but I can't remember the model leow. Those who are members will get extra 5-10% rebate. So there you go.... enjoy shopping!!
  14. Should try Nan Wah's main store at Changi, near Expo. They have many varieties of lightings and definitely one of the cheapest in town. !!
  15. Actually, if can gaurantee effectiveness, even $300+ also worth paying. Problem is, I haven't read enough reviews to suggest that Tempur is sure win. Some even say it is not effective, too small, too thick, buckwheat better...etc. Of course, there are also people that swear by it. As such, we have mixed reviews. So the issue isn't whether it is money worth spending for good night's sleep .... the issue is that it may be too much money to risk, without knowing it will really work for me. Online, there is also this brand called MemorRest... which is suppose to be a cheaper alternative to Tempur. A queen size pillow costs US$59 (S$84) and they openly ask you to compare their product with Tempur and shows you varies tests... they even have a return policy (dono true or not ). Anyone using this brand?
  16. Hunt for the model you want... then get a quote from Clementi Electronics Centre. I compared many places, their quotes for TVs are usually the lowest... other than cases where there are special promotions eslewhere.
  17. Good for you! 7.5kg is more than enough for 2 persons. Save money and save the environment as well.
  18. Not to worry too much lah... big washer means you wash once every week or two instead of twice a week. Poor people like me just don't have enough clothes to last for two weeks!! Haha..
  19. According to US consumer reviews... Panasonic is the leading brand for plasma TVs. Though exterior design wise, I prefer Samsung. Try Clementi Electronics Centre. Other than special offers in SITEX, they have the best deals in town for flat screen TVs.
  20. Hi... it really depends on your needs, taste and lifestyle. Some people have big family so need big fridge while others just like big fridge even though they only have 2 person. I bought a Samsung RT41 (410L gross) for below $550 from Clementi Electronics Centre (got it slightly cheaper because I also bought washing machine from them). It is a newer model and is currently the most value for money mid-size fridge - $ vs size, features and energy consumption (three ticks) wise. Hope this helps.
  21. For two persons, I think 9kg is way too big. Even your blankets and stuff do not need anything more than a 6.5kg. These days, most people buy between 6.5kg to 8.5kg. I just bought a Samsung 6.5kg as replacement for my LG (which broke down in less than 2.5years, sigh ) at my old place. I have also purchased a Samsung 7.5kg for my new place. So far, the 6.5kg Samsung works very well... quiet and efficient. Water consumption for top loading models is of course not as efficient as front load.... but it is a lot cheaper and easier to load the clothes. All these new Samsung models have 5 year warranty on motor but only 1 year on parts. I really hope it can last longer than my LG, but since it is a new model, no one can tell as yet, I guess. When I was at a friend's place, her new Panasonic washing machine was SOOO noisy. So at least I can say that Samsung and LG models are very very quiet. Not much help, but just my 2 cents.
  22. Any cheaper alternatives between seahorse and tempur? $200+ for a pillow is a bit too steep for me....but I am definitely in the hunt for a good support pillow. Tried goose down, feather, cotton...etc. All cannot support neck properly. Maybe it is the way I sleep...haha.. My seahorse pillow (the type with memory form for top layer) was good at first, but support strength gets weak within a year.... now doesn't provide much support. I know I can replace it cheaply but looking for a more long lasting solution. Recommendations, anyone?
