  1. Good dining layout. Please lose the top cabinet at your TV area in living room, they throw the whole design off and are too tall(touches the beam, thereby focus to the beam which we are trying to avoid). Thought that TV corner suppose to be cai wei in FS(correct me if i am wrong)?
  2. Bluberi- got some suggestion done, would you like to post a thread so open for more suggestion from others or pm to you? BTW sorry for hijacking this thread a bit.
  3. Yes, but now not doing ID a while now. taking a break but still learning ID on my own sweet pace
  4. bluberi- looking at it and will get back to you.. definitely can be better.
  5. country style-- remind me of a decade back when a taxi uncle turn designer in a week! Back then country was the in thing but i was doing minimalist already. My potential client said mine was too clean and show me a interesting kitchen floor design done by him. Well he actually took all his left over country tile, smash them to random size and lay them. It looks so aweful to me! i had a good laugh and told my client how it was done and went with me ha ha Do get some library books on country style, sure to find a lot of them around as reference.
  6. See your ID is *****, see their showroom quite ok. bluberi-- let me check your interior and i'll see if i can give suggestion. And its FOC of course. hmm..cant find your blog???no picture no work with?
  7. Very challenging layout, hmm will do one to see how it turn out to be
  8. that the most valued decor, inspiring
  9. Thanks for the encouragement. It is fun but lot of hard work cos I'm too perfectionist, think too hard. Going back to designing hmm maybe... Also if you want a change to your white dining table in future, put on a colored glass top, will be interesting.
  10. "48k for a beautiful house is worth it!" -- wow think i will consider going back to designing works hehe! darrenelle-- add a punch of color into your dining too or make them classic bK/WH scheme will be even better, simply add some dark pattern will fashion up the place.
  11. Postform top has more disadvantage than solid top. 1) it can dull faster especially those shiny ones 2) especially bad near edge for sink area, soften with time near sink since mainly they are chipboard and water resistant(green color for some). 3) level problem at joint, cannot be completely flat on both side since there is no grinding to level unlike solid top. If postform joint is just level together, over time more unevenness will appear as both side will wrap differently, edge will become ugly then. Advantage of postform will be it has lots of choice like wood grain. And if it is straight top, seal well at sink/hob, they are quiet good.
  12. Here's my colorful version of your living, forgive me if i am rude to post this( just toying with color here so carpet etc...not perfect, time not enough).
  13. Heavy impact on worktop near joint area or edge can cause it to split/damage or too much heat near backslash from hob flame.
  14. --- FOC No need to waterproof solid top, they are acrylic so will not take moisture.
  15. If you want one that will stay all the way, built a concrete stand and solid top over it but is most $$ and ID guy must do all calculation right so concrete is totally conceal. second choice is to waterproof the wood support on sink area and hob area supporting solid or postform top which is compulsory by my standard. having said all that i will still go for solid top.
  16. "my moms house abit simple floor color white wooden door painted white door frames also white but no theme"-- mom must be pure minimalist ha ha, everything white. Correction to my quote "Just don't paint it too near wall color" -- do so only when you want to hide away the doors totally, paint them exactly the same(bad me, forgotten i did this too so long ago ).
  17. Granite Detail needed to justify here people. Don't be surprise granite can be very expensive. For showroom worktop can command 3X the average and i have done this. It must be good to the detail-pattern, lines, texture, porosity, polish level, speckle etc. Most of the time HDB owner never get to this grade and when compare many cry over their poor quality. Bottom line is granite is natural stone, better ones cost a lot more and more rare.Sellers of stone are not stupid to sell them to you at cheap price when they are getting at higher price. Ponder over this.
  18. Postform top does not offer good egde treatment especially when jointing between an L-shape they will not look good. Further if worktop have 2 level, inferiority will show. Further more feel of the material differ. Solid color can be use nicely and top can be re polish, seam are almost invisible. Functionality rules on kitchen top. Used to be granite top best but pattern is hard to match and very limited choice. Hope this helps.
  19. Hotel 81 = brown ha ha! for some Good question on door color. Just don't paint it too near wall color. Avoid brown as it mentally we compare it to wooden door and inferior workmanship will show unless you have it taken down and spray finish but will still have to sand/ spray the existing frame. Have the frame and door the same color or frame as wall color as in minimalist style where everything kept to simple and door in this case should be just as simple as flat with subtle detail. Main door can be different color to bedroom door, generally its presence should be felt but if it is the same size/similar design and close to a bed room door then try color that will not make the main door looks inferior to bed room door. main door should be better than bedroom door, it is the first thing your guest see when they visit your home. Hope this helps.
  20. well not all architect are not good designers and they should upgrade themselves too. FS somethings just does not work at all, for example regarding the hob- ever seen how some restaurant cook works? The cold tap is on top of their wok and the sink is basically right at the back of the wok for easily washing. this is efficiency and it works so well. Door facing door-why not. depending on situation it can be good too. Imagine 2 terrace with side wall share and same family on both side with door facing each other. In olden days we can even keep them open and communicate each other with door always kept open in kampong. stronger kinship!
  21. As the topic suggest i have encounter FSM who have literally no idea on layout planning that i believe/seen that the outcome made an interior design bad. Many comes with standard idea/rules and when force to change due to odd situation such as small space they start to change their words. Have anyone encounter this and what are your opinion?
  22. Pseudo-very soon you will become one of contractor here too ha ha!
  23. Please show us a layout so we can have a better picture of what you have in mind. BTW since it is a big room now i dont see any problem with your layout at all.
