Property Market Boom Bubble?
icer replied to icer's topic in Landed & Condo Private Properties Renovation Discussion
I don't think it's appropriate to say everytime the prices will have to rise by 40% before it is called the bubble. Now the prices are already at its peak at all times right? -
Property Market Boom Bubble?

Yah, and I am waiting for it to burst now so I can buy and for it to boom again in 2009/2010 so I can sell. Haha Given the recent reports that there will be a lot more supply of properties available, the prices should stabilise or fall now. So, you better sell fast. -

What you are saying might be right. However, there's a risk that the bubble will burst anytime now. Unless you have spare money to take the risk, if not better wait. The prices are so high now that if the bubble burst and the prices goes back to year 2000-2005, a lot of people will cry or go bankrupt. It is precisely why the prices are going up and up cos many people think the same way as you, which is not wrong also. It's just a risk to take. -

No lor. Someone just paid over $700K for a 5 room flat at Kim Tian. That should be the record. It should be more than $300K above valuation? Crazy. At the rate it's going, by the time I am 35, I dun think I can afford a flat liao. Wow. You know him? He was recently featured on the newspaper with his new penthouse apartment. You mean that was rented? I know he used to have an apartment in Tanjong Pagar area. Maybe he sold that for profits and rented this new place. -

Possible too. Got a fren who bought a private property at $1m and in 6 months time, it's $1.5m now. Gosh. -

Depends on what is the price of the property, it's not totally a surprise if its $3-4 million. $100,000 is a small % then. Yes. But what if we cannot achieve the 6.5 million population? Then we will have a lot of excess housing. Dun forget a lot of new developments starting now and still a lot of empty flats at the sub-urban areas like Jurong West, Seng Kang, Punggol, Yew Tee, Woodlands, Sembawang etc? So can guess what will happen to the price then? -

It's bad. I missed the boom and now too late to buy any properties cos they are so expensive. Must wait for the next cycle dunno how long. Stupid HDB have those stupid rulings for singles that makes me not able to buy any flats. -
Property Market Boom Bubble?

Yah. I think so too. Apparently, the govt seems very happy to have the property prices going up. -
Hi all, The prices of property are going up, up and up. Wondering it it's a bubble. Might not be wise to purchase now since prices are so high and if it's a bubble, a lot of people will be in trouble. Already have some people who bought those high end pte properties thinking they can sell and earn big bucks. However some of them did not manage to sell and end up deposit forfeited cos they can't afford. Any advice on this?
-
No. Dun agree that it is pro-family and not anti-singles. If it's pro-family, they can offer more grants for family to buy flats but they should also allow singles to buy. By not allowing singles who are also tax payers to buy flats, it's anti-singles for sure. Yes. And also why $8,000 combined income ceiling for married couple and $3,000 for singles? What kind of maths is that? And shouldn't singles be having a higher income ceiling for HDB loan since married couples can share so many things together like household expenses, electrical appliances, furniture etc? And how many people earn below $3,000 after 35 yo?

Geylang Condo For Investment
icer replied to verbatin's topic in Landed & Condo Private Properties Renovation Discussion
I also thought of getting an apartment in geylang. Basically, I also think that to get a freehold apartment at a centralised location, geylang is probably the only choice. Not too concern of the area as I am single and no kids so safety not so much of an issue. Concern is whether can get loan or not and whether prices will go up or not. Got a fren who bought a landed property there and sold it for a good profit.
