  1. Maybe you should just dump it and buy a KDK now. Seriously, will save you the headaches in the future.
  2. Interesting, I didn't know that. Why is it then that most fridges still have the freezer on top? Since the fridge is more often opened than the freezer, it actually makes much more sense to have the fridge door as the higher one.
  3. I agree with kimsim. One of the biggest advantages of inverter is the comfort, with constant temperature maintained through the night. I have had inverter at home for last 6 years. Now staying in my uncle's place for a few nights, and he has a new panasonic non inverter aircon. Immediately cannot tahan the constant on and off of the compressor and the room getting cold and warm repeatedly.
  4. Ikea king size is 180x200cm. Local king size is 180x190cm. So you will have 10cm free play.
  5. Thanks for the reply. So now I know that pipe size must be looked at also. Probably I will not be increasing the capacity of the system too much.
  6. Daikin has R22 inverters and they are still being made. Can check out coolserve.com.sg to see. I think they are the only brand to do this.
  7. My Daikin inverter R22 system 3 compressor has conked out. I want to replace it without changing any piping. Went to an aircon shop, the man said I can only replace it with another Daikin R22 system, or a Mitsubishi Electric inverter R410a system. Thing is I thought you can't use r410a in R22 pipes. Anyone know?
  8. TS sounds like one ugly customer. The bane of all service staff.
  9. The sales people at HN, Courts, and Best are mostly attached to a particular brand. So depends on who you talk to, some will say all brands except LG are bad, some only recommend Bosch, etc. Take their 'advice' with a pinch of salt. Neighbourhood shop uncles are more unbiased.
  10. Had the older series of LG aircon before (Inverter Gold). Very poor experience. Noisy and not cold. Not reliable over 5 years. Remote control was stupid, every time would reset to default settings for temperature and wind after turning off and on. Since then, I will never buy another LG product especially since my LG micro hifi was totally spoilt after only 2 years. First the CD player spoilt then whole set cannot turn on.
  11. Easiest solution = change position of your bed?
  12. There's one Japanese fridge (can't remember Mitsubishi or Hitachi) which can open from either left or right. It has a double hinge system. Quite cool and worth considering for you.
  13. Those 'classic' looking fans are usually more noisy. So are tower fans. I think the standard table or standing fans are the quietest and strongest, even if they are not good looking compared to the others. I've seen a very slim white colour Mitsubishi standing fan at Audio House, maybe you can consider that if looks are a priority.
  14. Oh I've seen those tower fans. They are just normal fans with a display showing the current room temperature. Since there is no actual air cooling function, you cannot select the temperature.
  15. Are you talking about the cooling fans that you have to top up water into a container behind?
  16. You tried it already? Is it good?
  17. This happens at all the big electrical chains, and has been happening for a long while already.
  18. Tecnogas distributor is Singapore Radio & Industry at Tagore Industrial Estate. You can try calling them up to find out how to service your product.
  19. Does anyone know where I can sell or trade-in my used appliances like washing machine, TV etc? They are still in working order but I am getting some new appliances to replace them. Thanks!
  20. I have an iRobot Roomba. It's very effective at vacuuming (except in the very corners of the house) but you have to spend around 5 mins after each run to clean it out thoroughly as hair and dirt tends to get stuck in the brushes. Also, the battery now lasts only 30 mins compared to 90 mins when it was new (2 years ago). Time to buy a replacement battery I guess.
  21. The advice once again is to go with Fujifilm. Sure, they are not the slimmest cameras around but do you want something that looks nice or do you want your photos to look nice? Just look at this comparison with Canon IXUS 850 (Panasonic cameras will be even worse for graininess): http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilmf31fd/page13.asp If that doesn't convince you, then I don't know what will
  22. I would recommend Fujifilm digital cameras. They have very good low light shooting ability (which is important if you take a lot of indoor or night shots) and the results are much clearer and less 'grainy' than most other brands. Casio and Panasonic cameras are known for taking grainy photos in low light conditions. You can consider the Fujifilm F31fd, which is going for around $500 now. Or the Z5fd which is slimmer, which costs around $450 if I'm not mistaken.
