  1. I was also considering Luxur Design for my home renovation about 2 years ago. I met with Alan Neo and Beam Ker and they showed me their commercial projects portfolio, and their office was quite nicely done up . I did some research on the internet, and that’s when I saw the review about Luxur Design. I was also surprised when I first read it, coz it was so different from the impression I had about Alan and Beam. So I decided to contact the homeowner whom wrote that review. And I was truly horrified when I heard their story about Luxur’s poor workmanship, overcharging and also their refusal to rectify the problems. I also had the chance to read the professional building surveyors’ reports, saw the photos, and also the court case. If Luxur were really sincere about admitting it was their mistake and that they have learnt from this mistake, i feel that they should have at least done the rectification, or made some financial compensation, or at the very least apologise. Instead, I heard from the homeowners that during the court case, they abandoned the old company (Luxur ID and Luxur Living) and started a new company Luxur Design, and then ignored the court case totally! This is typically what unscrupulous contractors and IDs do to avoid liability and responsibility. So I’m wondering how “sincere” Luxur is ....I also saw another bad review of Luxur few months ago, about how Alan is actually a bankrupt and gangster, and that he goes around cheating and threatening contractors and homeowners and opening new companies. There were even photos of Alan Neo's bankruptcy records with full name and IC number, photos of his car and Luxur’s shopfront! So in the end, of coz i hired another company. Anyway lucky you, but I definitely did not want to run the risk of paying the “tuition fees” for anyone to so call “sincerely learn from their mistakes and improve themselves ”.
  2. I suggest you try U Plaster Ceiling (Ah Tiong is the boss). They did works for my terrace house and I thought they were very responsible and with above average workmanship.
  3. Wow really?! Np at all .... some good news though .. refer to the forum letter below just posted by Ministry of Trade and Industry on Fri 1 Jul 2016 .... good luck! http://m.todayonline.com/voices/changes-consumer-law-will-also-better-protect-against-errant-contractors

  5. I assume you are referring to Luxur ID? I did consider hiring them for interior works for my house and visited their office in the Joo Chiat area and thought that the office was quite nicely done up. The company is helmed by a bf/gf couple and they do both ID and contractor works. I recalled that their indicative quote was on the high side though after comparing with a few other ID firms. Apart from Luxur ID, I recall they have another company named Luxur Living. However they seemed to have stopped using either of these names, and changed their name recently to Luxur Design instead.... If you are concerned about hiring the wrong ID/contractor, I suggest you check out the thread started by Spartacus on how to do an ACRA search and also how to check if the company you are keen to hire is involved in a lawsuit. I agree it is prudent to be more careful as it is really all too easy for these ID/Contractors to close a company and open another one in order to avoid liability when they get into trouble.... Good luck!

  7. Just as I mentioned in the other thread, I would suggest you hire an independent and reputable architect and main con separately instead of hiring a design and build company. It may sound more expensive on the onset but it will be money well spent as the independent architect will provide a check and balance on the workmanship and also certify on the progress of the construction before recommending payment disbursement.
  8. Hi, can you please share the name of ur ID and Contractor? We need more honest and responsible people like them in this industry!
