Anyone Heard Of Water System?
little_sunshine replied to Disagreement's topic in Fashion, Beauty and Health
A lot of different water filters on the market. Always look out for the NSF standards 42, 53 and 55 (www.nsf.org). Most brands on the market do have have the NSF standards or at best have NSF42 only. RO water is not good for the body in the long run. It is so clean that it also removes all the good minerals in the water and in the long run, we will have lack of minerals - a lot of health problems later on. Alkeline water may have it's claims, but it does not meet the basic requirements of a water filter either, which is to remove what our body do not need and retains the good minerals for the body. If anyone wanting more info, can pm me hor -
I am using LOC from Amway, you can see a free demo too. Please pm me for details.

I am very surprised that Diamond now says that you do not require a water filter in Singapore. This is very different from their stand some years back when they claimed that it does water filteration + others. This is probably because they got caught for claims that could not be proven, especially the NSF standards. With regards to alkaline water, I would highlight the basics of water filteration is to remove whatever is not required and retain what is good for the body. If the system does not fulfill NSF standards 42, 53 and 55, then there is no point getting it as the system cannot even meet the basics. I find that eSpring is still the only system that fulfill the basics, and the claims are backed up by external evaluation. Just sharing the conclusions that I came to. If anyone wants to know more, please pm me. :-)

What do you want the purifier to achieve within the $500 budget?
-
Umm, I know people who drank pure water long term and their nails became brittle, cos the minerals that are in our tap water are removed. Whatever is good in the water, the filter should retain, whatever is not required should be removed...
-
If you get one for whole house, you still have the pipes between the filter and your tap that can add rust or other things to the water. The water filter should be a point of use one to have the best effect, i.e. filter at the point where you draw the water at the tap. When I evaluated my filter, I looked what sort of filter can give me good drinking water. I defined what are the criteria of good drinking water and then looked at what technology can fulfil the criteria. Last of all, I looked at what certifcations does the filter have. I found that the most important certification for water purifier is NSF, which WHO adopted as their standard. Hope this is helpful.

Long time didn't log in to read the forum. During pregnancy, the baby takes whatever nutrients required from the mother. Whatever nutrients the mother provides to the baby forms the basis of the baby's development while in the womb. Hence the importance of optimal nutrition. One of the minerals that is very important is calcium. Almost all gynae will prescribe calcium supplements for the mother to take during pregnancy. If the calcium intake is not enough for the baby, where get the required calcium? From the mother's bones, hence, as applefreak points out, the mother became shorter after the pregnancy. The reverse can also happen. If the mother's calcium intake is more than enough for the baby, the excess calcium will be used by the mother to strenghten their bones and even grow taller. This is the second chance for ladies to grow taller after the teenage years.

From what I know, we never get enough, cos even if I try my very best to have a balanced meal, I know it is not sufficient. The envoirnment plays a big part in growing up, but that comes after the child is born. The very first step begins with the mother eating enough nutrients as the baby can only get it's food from the mother while it is inside. Given enough nutrients, the mother can even get taller during pregency! To me, this is a very important first step....

Fresh Milk For Baby?
little_sunshine replied to B2B's topic in Pregnancy,Parenthood and Education Matters
Not a good idea. The baby's stomach is not be able to accept fresh milk and may in turn lead to allergy to milk later on. Better to use FM that is catered to what the baby needs, without what the baby cannot absorb. -
Where To Buy Crockery
little_sunshine replied to firipy's topic in Moving House: Packing, Storing, Moving To Your New House
Actually brought a fair bit of things from Java. As leen says, the warehouse is dusty. ALL of the items are from a factory in Indonesia, so the quality is uneven. Check carefully on the items. -
Depends on what sort of table u want. I got a wooden one from Ikea, and there are a number of showrooms in Sungei Kadut.

How To Get Flawless Skin
little_sunshine replied to classified11's topic in Fashion, Beauty and Health
This all depend on the skin type, and condition. Maybe due to non-application of sunblock, or any number of factors. Best to seek some face to face advice. My wife when to see a knowledgeable friend and her problem was fixed. -
Hmm, why Marvello? Is it better than the others in the market?

I do not live in any private property, but perhaps you should unscrew the tap to see what's behind it. You maybe very surprised

Any air purifier will only be able to purify air in a controlled envoirnment. It would be impossible to do it for whole wide world! Hi cindy, Why do want negative ions? The only use of negative ions is supposed to cause the dust to stick to somewhere for a short time. At the end of the day, it is still there and not removed. After the charge comes off, the dust will fly off into the air again!

Comments Of Fisher N Paykel Fridge
little_sunshine replied to sunshines11's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Could you advice the model of the F&P fridge? Was thinking of getting the E411... From my memory, F & P has 2 year warranty on fridge, but 5 years on compressor -
I'm using iCook. Upfront, not cheap, but my LPG went from 1 tank a month to 1 every 3-4 months. Long term, I figured that I'll recover my money after 5 years, not to mention the time that I saved during cooking, time saved by not cleaning up after cooking, and tasty food to cap it all. !! Ahh, I should have said that the pot brings out the favours in the food without any seasoning added. Err, actually aluminium should not even be used for any cooking. Aluminium is a very soft metal, so easy to come off and mix with water as we stir the food. Its biggest advantage is that it heats up very easily, so a lot of hawkers like to use it to cook porridge and fish soup. Sometimes, better dont know, cos once u know, u wont be able to eat at a lot of hawkers

Kids With Asthma
little_sunshine replied to lovenest's topic in Pregnancy,Parenthood and Education Matters
I'm not the expert in asthma, but have friends who do suffer from asthma. As I know, this can be a reaction to certain pollutants in the air as it reaches our lungs. The polluntants can be pollen, dust, or waste from dust mites, cigarette smoke, etc... They are normally classified as what is known as PM10, pollutants smaller than 10 mircons. Constant exposure to this can cause imflamation or reaction to the respiratory system. If we are able to remove PM10 from the air around us, especially at home when we sleep, this can help our body to recover some what over a period of time. When we get exposed to the polluntants again, the reaction will not be as bad. What some of my friends have done is to install a good air purifier in their house to clean up the air. There after, I have not heard them mention about asthma. -
Well, I'm no expert in steel. But I as I know, there is very little difference between 18/8 and 18/10. They both still fall into 304 grade of stainless steel.

Non-stick wok still not safe lar. Iron wok will rust, so again still cant compare to stainless steel. Best to invest is a good wok that will last you forever. I used to think that you must have high heat to have tasty food, this wok hei thing.... But after seing n using a set of good s/s pots, I now have great food that retains it original favour without having to add any favouring whatsoever, saves gas, and no need to clean up after cooking! So for me more than anything outweighs wok hei.

Do not know where u get the impression that stainless steel reacts to certain things in food. Using the correct grade of stainless steel is a lot safer than any other type of material, e.g. iron, Teflon, aluminium, etc. The best stainless steel in the market is 18/8 stainless steel. After switching over to stainless steel, my wife n myself hv been very satisfied with the performance. With low heat way of cooking, we have managed to get the original taste of the food without any seasoning whatsoever. Very difficult for me to describe in words, best to taste it. Yummy
