i use instant electrical water heater. haven't live in yet but when tried to on it, the water pressure seems to be ok. but haven't tried the water temperature cos the switch to on the heater haven't done (installation by plumber, switch by electrician outside the toilet only to be done after carpentry finish). oh ya, 1st time when I turned it on, can hear water sound rushing through the pipes for maybe a second or two before water came out. water pressure not affected when the other toilet's shower set (normal type) is switched on. HTH!

Day 23 Dropped by yesterday (day 23) to inspect the works done + wait for the painter and tell him what to touch up. Found some defects on the carpentry works, paint works and little things. Will document it down here. Some pics (actually most) are blurred hahaha cos I used panorama mode and maybe moved too fast. The damaged downlight has been replaced. The gap between the ceiling and the other downlight was fixed. (no pic) The switch at entrance by default has two switches, cos 2 electrical points. But we only used the one at nearer window for ceiling fan and sealed up the one nearer the door. So now we're asking if can connect the other switch (now empty) to the downlight at entrance. Hopefully it can be done! I honestly didn't know lah else I would have asked for it earlier I thought the electrician would auto.. lol. but electrical works we paid already x.x so hoping for the best. If really cannot then at least i'll insist that they change it to a single switch (for the ceiling fan with light) else really very fed up to see empty switch lol. The switch behind the partition wall is still not yet shifted out - I can confirm he forgot about it despite our multiple reminders. So he called us after we sent a few messages and told us to mark it down in masking tape and indicate where we want the switch to be. Living room TV console is up - this is the view when I stand at the sofa area (the partition wall here lor as above pic). Some minor defects (can see the masking tape markings? lol). The laminate a bit scratched, the hole in the middle (for cables/wires) never smoothen the edge, the metal part in the middle never stick properly. Now to bedroom wardrobes.. Asked the ID why the shelvings not adjustable type, I'd assumed it would be so. Waiting for his answer (cos I just wrote down all the things and sent him this morning). And the internal is white PVC laminate... need to top up for coloured PVC so I didn't.. sad.. my current bedroom's $400+ store bought wardrobe also got internal laminate lor.. MBR wardrobe There is a scratch (?!) on the laminate for the switches area, they better fix it cos it's so ugly!!!! BR 2 wardrobe. The left side inside still can put things, it's not dead space. I think they made it as such so that the sliding door still can be same sized? Donno.. Anyway this wardrobe supposed to be 150cm, but I measured 161cm. I told the ID to stick exactly to 150cm cos I don't want to open door and be greeted by wardrobe laminate, I prefer to have some leeway when opening/closing door. So if ask me to pay for this I'll not be willing to pay cos I didn't ask for it!! Extra 11cm later ask me to pay for 1 foot run very not worth leh! We'll see how it goes... Oh ya, the top of this wardrobe in BR2 right, had a small square of laminate patch! It's like they screwed up and patched it up. SO UGLY!!!! Seeing if they can do anything about that. Angry sia. Hahahah! Supposed to have a connecting joint between the tiles and vinyl flooring.. Not yet done. So donno whether they plan to put or not, but I will insist since it's inside the quotation and the tiles are cut with some edges (cannot feel but can see, so ugly). You see the picture, can get what I mean? The kitchen dish rack glass is supposed to be black. It's in his first draft of the kitchen drawing and we didn't make any changes so I also donno why he mixed it up o.o But it looks quite like the drawing lor. Overall Qquite pleased with the works so far here. Except that my Fujioh hood's oil collecting tray is like dented in the middle. Asked the ID to fix it too - simple job he said. One question I had was why was there a gap between the granite top and the wooden cabinet? Our sink is top mount and I feel that it should be like that hob area, cabinet and granite top flushed together without gap. Donno if you guys can see from the pic.. Please let me know your views.. I'm concerned about the sustainability cos we didn't build concrete support, plus ours is silgranite sink very heavy leh.... The cabinet at the other side (fridge side) is ok except that one of the doors is not straight. This is a small issue lah just need to adjust the hinge. This one need to adjust if not will hit the fridge base when open very hard lol (cos I very rough, already hit when I opened it the first time haha). So the painter touched up and paint and we left before he's done. We did chill inside BR3 (cos ceiling fan up and running haha) and very cooling, feel very worth my money now lol. So far the carpentry is mainly done, left some little things here and there. As of now, these are the outstanding works: 1. TV console doors; 2. Kitchen sink, tap, plumbing, hob & gas; 3. Kitchen light; 4. Toilets T5 lights; 5. MBR & BR2 switches; 6. Shifting out of switch behind partition wall; 7. Fixing back DB door (gonna try asking for laminate over it and some shelving inside - wish me luck); 8. The connecting joint between tiles in corridor & bedrooms' vinyl flooring; 9. Door stopper for main door; 10. Glass for toilet; 11. Glass door for kitchen; 12. Glass backsplash behind sink/cooker. Ok I've completed my weekly update lol. That's all for now~

We didn't seal with extra stuff cos HDB ones came sealed mah.. initially they used the common toilet which I thought was reasonable - cannot don't let people go toilet while working in our unit right.. but didn't expect so "bu zi dong" one.. if they never clean the toilet when we head down this weekend I'm going to complain to the ID. cos I also don't know what does "chemical cleaning" include. plus the common toilet one was dirty lor got poop at the side one so disgusting!!!!! Then our project FB group, someone shared a group buy for curtains - less than 1k for day & night curtains for all rooms which I thought was quite reasonable so maybe will get a few quotations and compare first.. cos DIY quite troublesome also haha! (lazy) The racks I also no preference, will see if anyone in the FB shares a group buy and if the price is alright then probably just get, cos it doesn't have to be aesthetically pleasing to me also lol I very chin-chye with that..

Day 20 - no pictures quick update ID called this morning (8am plus so early he start working already o.o) and asked if we could drop by our unit this Sunday (day 23) to meet with the painter doing touch up. Told me that they would be doing chemical washing in the morning and that the painter will be there at about 1pm to do touch up of painting. Since we already planned to drop by on Sunday, I agreed. Plus I noticed some spots that required the painter to touch up during my visit on last Saturday (day 15). Does it mean that with chemical washing & paint touch up, the reno journey is coming to an end?

Our First Reno Journey

Till now I still don't understand why HDB cannot do the screeding till 45mm. Free one do incomplete one, so illogical. Anyway looking forward to see more updates of your reno! Have you purchased your furniture/electronics yet? -
wow the layout looks great. looking forward to see the transformation! I also didn't do much for "door opening ritual" thus it's really up to the individual..

today is the day!! congrats!! so happy for you, can't wait for my turn to be able to move in (minus the packing >.<) haha! -
I hope it would be completed nicely too haha! Oh cos it was just like a hundred dollars difference and we felt that as curved tv takes off, it would be the norm. Since not as expensive as I thought, then why not? We stood there really long looking at the video shown and we liked that even when we stand at the side, still can see everything quite clearly. it would be nice esp if our friends come over. otherwise, being right in the middle also quite shiok haha! plus we've been using normal tv for so long, time for a change hehe.. So in the end which tv did u get?

Day 15 Went down to meet the plumber to discuss where we want the things to be fixed, and also to bring down the toilet paper holders we'd bought separately from the other toilet fittings. Took a look around our house and while the paint colours were nice, the paint job was terrible!! This one complain to ID also no use cos he said this is only the first coat, will touch up after that. But I wonder, the deep scratch on wall, bumps and peeling paint can be fixed meh? And why never put masking tape along the edges/skirting these to get a nice, straight line?! wtf I can paint better than that lor!!! One thing that really irks me was that the workers in our unit were so messy! Look at all these mess! Ok the electric heater for shower was just taken out from the household shelter by the plumber lah but still!! Passed by another unit with the workers IN the house and it was so much cleaner, no junk dumped on the floor. In fact, there were cigarette butts everywhere before the flooring was done. I had reminded ID to get them to clean up before laying the floor but TBH, we will never know whether they do clean up or not!!!!! Major loss of faith there. And the workers were kind of dirty in my opinion. The toilet bowl is dirty fml. And not flushed properly (maybe cos the HDB toilet bowl flush has no power). (no picture cos so disgusting) Another upsetting point was that the toilet in the MBR was opened for usage as well!! It wasn't opened the previous time we dropped by (day 9) so I'm quite pissed with that but tbh, there's nothing we can do T.T Actually, we dropped by on day 14 night cos the ID told us that the lights were up, so we went to see whether the lights were bright enough (yes they were) and the shower mixer tap was not closed properly for god knows how freaking long so all the water wasted there. ARGH am I very anal?! I felt so upset by these little things. Sigh. Anyway, the kitchen cabinets' base, fridge base and washing machine base up. MBR shower kerb up too but no picture cos I was upset about the stupid toilet bowl hahaha! One of our downlights were spoilt!! Very irritated by this! I decided that it was their workers who spoilt it (although we didn't check the downlights) cos why else didn't they call to inform us that the downlight was spoilt when they opened it?! Messaged our ID and his explanation was that it was already spoilt when the electricians opened it, but he told them to go ahead to fix it as he though we had gotten from his recommended shop and he would go to exchange for us (but why didn't he tell us WHY OH WHY). Anyway, we told him we got ours elsewhere and it's freaking far for us to go ahead, we have no time plus we felt that it shouldn't be our responsibility to get the light since they didn't inform us when they opened it. Then we wonder... how come the downlight there got gap one.... is it a job not well done or norm? Donno why the bedroom ceiling fan cover removed... didn't ask.. forgot.. sigh. Oh yah, window grills up. Service yard's windows up too, love the big panel sliding window, looks so much more spacious than these tiny windows in the rest of the unit. Anyway those being complained, the overall work still seems alright. The vinyl flooring seems to be laid quite well but we have yet to do a thorough check. Tiles cannot check yet cos all blocked. ID promised it'll be done by this week but really we're not rushing him. Anyway, these are the outstanding works to be done: 1. Carpentry (to be up by day 18 - today); 2. Counter top (to be up by day 21); 3. Aircon to be fixed on day 21; 4. Shower screen; 5. Kitchen glass door; 6. DB cabinet door which he removed and said that will cut to make it fit cos we had L-box (actually wanna ask him to help put a plank or 2 inside the box to make it like a shelving for modem, keys etc but we haven't seen him cos we usually go down when nobody's around); 7. Some switches (MBR & BR2 switches will be at the side of the wardrobes so didn't fix earlier); 8. T5 lights in the toilets (OH YAH, noticed that one of the acryllic panels didn't seem to fit well - need to check again when we inspect the reno); 9. Plumbing supposed to be done but still need to check; and 10. Door magnet for main door; and 11. Can't think of anymore at the moment.. will add on if required.. or if anyone got anything to add on pls let me know! Ok that's all the pictures for the week.. the next time we're going down would be this Sunday (day 23).

Haha hello! Yah mine is moving too fast so I'm a bit worried about the quality of work but when we went to check last weekend, seems to be ok overall, some issues that should be able to be rectified. Gotta say that the paint job was not well done at all. Sigh. In fact, we spotted a small chip on the window frame the 2nd time we went up, and the thing is it cannot be fixed, the ID said that can only paint over. So upset. Another thing that irritates me greatly was that the workers opened the toilet in the MBR to use when I saw last Saturday!!!! SO ANNOYED. Is it because I'm anal? I feel that they should stick to using the common toilet cos their usage is SO FREAKING DIRTY!!!! ARGH! We're still looking for storeroom racks and curtains.. Still thinking whether it's justifiable to spend like 1k+ on curtains or should we DIY. Storeroom racks totally haven't source cos recently had been busy with other stuff. I'm looking at the typical boltless racks (is that it? I donno also).. you? Please do share when you decided! I follow your Tblog too

Cos I also don't go down frequently (once a week only) so I cannot see for myself whether my ID goes on site everyday or not. One reason we don't drop by frequently was that it's quite inconvenient, the nearest bus stop is quite far. What I feel is that no, he doesn't go down frequently. Only his partner does, but his partner is not the one in charge of our project, he's more like being there to promote their company and get people to take up renovation packages with them. So far there had been some issues (will be updating in a while) and carpentry is gonna be up by today so I'm also a little worried. How did you resolve the issue with your ID in this case? Is that a chip on your countertop?

Haha most impt is the bed only imo!! I totally agree that packing is very tiring. although I'm shifting from a room to an apartment, I'm dreading the packing moment, and esp cos I'm not intending to bring so much over, means I need to throw those :x -
