Oops I have been procrastinating and not done much touch-up yet.. everytime I see those marks on the wall, I go "D'oh!!!" I saw those glass shelves on your blog - very nice! Can DIY ! The window shutters looks like an exciting project. I'm waiting for blinds to be installed. Fingers crossed that the design and colours turn out ok! The digital peephole is only suited to be installed on certain doors with a centralised peephole? My peephole is on the border of the main door, so the longer digital peepholes may not fit? Eh, got free installation? -

Looking like it's quite hard to leave that sofa now once you settle down on it... That steel laptop stand looks like a good buy too! Are your throws from Ikea too? I have no idea where to start looking, and don't really want to get it online since cannot 'feel'. -

Someone will need to take measurements of the dimensions for the gate and send it for fabrication. Might take about a week or so? Are you going to have your unit number on the gate? -

Oh I just opened the small zip-loc and found the sticker tags I think the whitish stuff on your counter is from the silicon. They used silicon and mama lemon while installing the slab. I was also told the 'special' cleaning liquid is similar to Cif (but this is supposedly more gentle?), although Caesarstone sells it separately as well. It seems as if Caesarstone isn't as maintenance free as I thought. Should have gone for black so dirt doesn't show up as easily! -

@Catt not yet... Haven't had time to call them up... Just installed unit number plate over the weekend It's just been cleaning/washing these days, with the occasional visitors dropping by. I realised my place is so unfurnished hahaha... and I need a proper coffee/side table. Envy all the shopping you've been doing!! -

Hahaha it's quite a good purchase! Though I've only used it that one time.... Have you 'completed' buying stuff for the house already? No updates on your blog leh -
The specs are online http://www.ariston.com/sg/Aures_smart You might want to check with the hardware store or your plumber before you commit.

My cousin's place has the same layout I realise, and the tv console is positioned under where your aircon FCU is (rotate 90 degrees). You have such a spacious living area, that's why everything else looks small in comparison! Oh well, can consider upgrading your tv now.... hahaha.... -

When they installed the caesarstone slab, were you there to watch? I was astounded when they fixed the short slab on the wall, and when it was short of about 1mm, the installer casually tore a small piece of cardboard lying on the floor and placed it under the slab so it would be even. I was really speechless. Whoops. The caesarstone guy forgot to give me the sticker! Anyway he cautioned that caesarstone is still prone to dings, and advised that we should be careful with it. It's also not entirely scratch proof! -

The living room was extended to accommodate this dining area. Can squeeze in 6 pax if need to The beam cannot be removed so a pendant lamp hangs from it. -

Part of the simple smallish kitchen. There's more than enough storage it seems! Trying not to introduce clutter unnecessarily... let's see how that turns out... Countertop is caesarstone with ceramic hob. Backsplash has been tiled up - nearly went with glass actually. The LED lights are good for evening - don't need to switch on the main kitchen light! -

Personally, I used a contractor as I sort of knew what i wanted and didn't want anyone to persuade me otherwise The IDs or contractors will look at your floor plan for area (please photocopy at least 10 pieces!), and give you itemised quotation. If you find the quote acceptable, it would be a good idea to let them take a look at your place, so they can give suggestions. Likewise, you can tell them what you want, for e.g., a built-in wardrobe on one wall of master bedroom; built-in cabinet with shoe rack along a wall; ceiling fan in the living room; sofa on which side, etc. This way, it is easier for them to give you a quotation based on the length of the cabinetry. You can also tell them what you don't want, for e.g., industrial look. You can ask them how best to maximise space in your kitchen (maybe have to get a smaller fridge too). Good to have ideas! @Catt is absolutely right in saying "we are more forgiving with our own choices vs. those made by others for us." I love that quote. -

If you kinda know what you want (theme/colour schemes), can go for a contractor to keep costs lower as there will not be designing fees. There may be drawings included for visualisation. Some things to consider would be what are the built-in carpentry you need (wardrobe/kitchen)... Certain furniture like tv consoles/shoe rack may be purchased as a standalone units. Look at the floor plan and figure out what you must have and approx placement. That would help. An ID would usually charge for designing fees, but you still need to have an idea of what you are looking for in terms of design. I think it is wise to start researching a month or 2 before you commit. Do get a few quotations to compare. -

@Ks Toh may I ask how secure is this? did you have to screw the sides into the door frame, or just turn to tighten? Thanks!- 686 replies

What I used: Selleys Wood Putty. It comes with a little plastic spatula/applicator. The texture is somewhat like play dough but slightly rubbery. Here's the finished door frame! And what it looks like when the door is closed. -

The room looks really soothing with the choice of colour! I went with "Smoky" for one of the walls and really like it. Did you install blinds for the living room as well? Can PM me the name of the company pls?
