Good Contractor For Kitchen Cabinets
butterflykisses replied to tamarind's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Hi trees and jaskel, do u mind can i hv the carpenters contact details too? thank u my email is honeylemonster@gmail.com THANKS! -
DNAlife is really expensive. More expensive than the wall decals and wall papers. plus the service & knowledge of the consultant is not impressive leh. Every item you choose, you have to pay for installation. Their installation fee is not like one time payment for all items. I think its rather costly.

does anyone know of any oil painters who can replicate or customize paintings at a reasonable price?

I must say the highly raved ID here doesnt really deserved the good comments from my experience. Looks like when they are busy, they blatantly ignore u and give priority to new potential customers. They behave like a hit and run salesperson. Not much conceptualization on design. No proper follow up. Cannot take proper instructions. Totally no after sales service too. So much so that James had to come into picture and do the after sales service. It says very much of the salesperson when the boss have to step in and do damage control. I must say James is good. At least he tried to help us solve our problems and extended his help. Can see that he is at least responsible. If given a 2nd choice, I would not have engaged EI. No way. In fact, I'm planning to do some minor reno soon. Cos the current house reno is really not what I like. If you really wan to engage EI, I think its better to look for James. Afterall he is the partner of EI, he wouldnt smashed his own reputation. -
sadly to say its one of the rather popular company in this forum anyway i dun wish to name them in the thread since the boss was nice enough to handle our case even though he wasnt the one who serviced us if u wanna know more can pm me thou

We just had our resale unit renovated a couple of months back. The reno was a major one, almost everything was renovated and we shifted in 2 months ago. After we shifted in, we faced some issues with the house's reno. * Wrong drilling for toilet glass shelf so toilet wall tiles had to be hacked, retiled and redrilled * Uneven wall painting (Painter wasnt keen to repaint it until we spoke to the ID and got him to see it for himself) * The toilet glass door hinge was a little unstable (Rectified and praying that the hinge is secured and will not fall off one day) * Bedroom door stopper came off * ID told us for after sales service, we are not to contact him but his boss (was pretty disappointed) * On 3rd day of CNY, we were locked out of our own house at 1am cos the main door lock was spoilt * Barely a week later, the water heater gave out a loud explode sound, smoke emitted and the entire house's electricity tripped I'm feeling really stressed about all these and the possible future 'surprises' that might come up anytime. I really dunno is it we SUAY or what? Or were the reno works not done properly? The only consolation was the boss of the ID company is still not too bad. Though he wasnt the one who serviced our renovation proceess, he tried to help or advice us in any way he could even when we faced issues at 1am. He also followed up our emergency issues pretty promptly. But Im still feeling upset and worried. Dunno what's next? And each time something happens, we have to spend time arranging for rectifications, taking time off work to wait for the workers to come rectify and clean up the mess after that.

actually i find the workmanship of EI isnt that great. some works are pretty slip shod. once you paid up in full already, their service also not very good. they are overly rated. -
yup dry already and can still see the lines. Intiially only the right side of the 2 walls are painted unevenly... now uneven lines can be seen across the 2 whole walls.
-
Haha... they've repainted the whole sandstone colour wall AND it GOT WORSE! ARGH!! The painter skill is really lousy.
-
Anyone has any good contacts for customized storeroom racks? TIA!
-
Hmm if they paint the whole wall with the additional coats its not considered touch up. And its common for all painters to do 2-3 coatings when painting. Touch up is like they paint a portion of it only. Anyway, we got the ID up to our place to see for himself. I think he does think its not acceptable that's why he has arranged for his painter to come up to re-paint the wall. Thanks for the peeps for sharing your experiences.

Divine, I think u really hv to be firm and push them for it. Give them a deadline. U hvt made the final payment right? Hold on the payment until all rectifications are made. -
gosh 70k is a lot for the reno!
-
Haha... the ID has been quite nice so far so I also dont wanna be too nasty in holding his last payment. Hope to get him to help solve the problem amicably lor... last resort to using payment to negotiate....hehe AIR, yeah... problem is the painter is too lazy to repaint the whole wall! he says even if he repaint also will be the same. That's why I come here and check with fellow owners here to see if this is really the case... sigh Hahaha...
-
aiya! im so upset with it! anyway tks for all ur replies! Problem also is... the worker who came up to do other paint touch up was lazy and refused to repaint those 2 sandstone walls. Urgh... not sure if speaking to our ID will help. Some more these 2 sandstone walls are the main walls u see in the living room... boo!
-
Hi guys, Can i chk if anyone of u use a mid to dark tone for your wall paint? We used sandstone colour for our living room and its not evenly painted. Can see the patches and such. The ID has arranged for his painter to come up do some rectification works and the painter says if he touch up, it'll still be the same. Is that true?? The uneven wall colour really look unsightly!

Hey guys, any idea where to find water features for the home? I've been to the following places but found none close to the design or the price we want. Perhaps u can share what are the other places that sell water features? We've been to: Thomson nurseries Nature Company Farmart GardenAsia ParkMall basement water feature shop

Kekekek guess the interior business here is very competitive hence they are behaving like this. I only visited the exhibition once b4 my house reno and never attended any after that. Espcially at such shows, they tend to offer lotsa verbal freebies or cheap prices but seems like after signing, there are people who complained that they aint getting their value for money. For 40k i believe is do-able for a 5 room. It really depends on your expectations. If you are just doing the basics like floor, wall and perhaps kitchen cabinet, it can be done. But if u want more carpentry, its gonna cost more. My friend's renovating her resale EA and she's paying like almost 50k. Ours is a resale 4 rm and we're paying like 40k for a major overhaul as well as quite an extensive carpentry. Its really for you to justify what you want vs the budget u hv. Read around the threads for advices on the IDs... that's what we did too. So far our ID, I wouldnt say he's the best but he's been nice. At least, it wasnt really a pain working with him on our house reno.
