Yes, by HDB. However one way of thinking is they will speed up the works and do them less diligently, as defects reported by owners may be more ok (to the contractor) .. hope they won't be so sloppy.
-
i heard from my neighbour the LD imposed by HDB on the contractor is $500/day/unit.
-
the order of things i've gotten so far: 1. toilet accessories (contractor kept telling to get from his friend) 2. wm and fridge 3. hob and hood 4. lights now, the focus is on book shelves and study table. Next: 1. curtain 2. bed and things like dressing table 3. sofa and cabinets for living room i have no idea how to fit this into my remaining budget of $5000. :-(

u are getting from LUMIER? Din come across this ystd at Balestier... but we only went to a few shops. After 2-4 shops, you get a bit blinded by the lights...
-
they are mostly in the range from 20 to 60, with the hanging lights costing from 100 to 200. :-) giving me energy saving bulbs as well.. it was hard to find matching ones for living and dining, cuz as i said the auntie said the lights are very old type and they don't carry them anymore. hard to find the style we like with reasonable price. basically we bought 7 lights from one shop at balestier, and the balance incl the hanging light at by merah.. i have seen the most expensive light of my life yesterday, at balestier ystd. >20k for a chandelier about 1 m in height.. strictly for landed property..

totally love this from Scanteak.. anyone considering teak furniture? http://www.scanteak.com.sg/products/main_100_140.png
-
ok, finally settled my lights purchase today - $700 in total incl. 3 hanging "antique" lights. shop auntie only has one in stock and trying to clear stock, therefore "antique".
-
went to buy lights at balestier today. prices not the cheapest but seem reasonable. guy told me they would give a 6 mth warranty card upon delivery and he showed the card to me. Total damage : ~ $300 (Not incl living, dining, MBR, passageway, bomb shelter) shop name is called de lite shop. anyone heard of it?
-
No falso ceiling and L box. The chandelier allows fitting of energy saving bulbs. :-)
-
anyone getting an alarm monitoring system?
-
My hubby and I are eyeing oriental antique chandeliers for dining room, living room and MBR.. is it too many chandeliers?
-

-
starting tiling works tmr eh? Have fun! :-)
-
hey out of curiosity as i understand that laminate flooring is very popular for bedrooms... who is not doing laminate for flooring and what are you doing for your flooring instead?

there's a thermostat in order to reach the temperature you set on your air con remote control..

one thing abt this guy even though he verbally quoted in the beginning, is you will find a high level of consistency in the price he quotes... like, if he told you sthg is 750, the next meeting he will still say it's 750. by the way, the name of the guy i'm dealing with jason.
-
Haha i just read abt your experience with tong hong. Basically i got the same experience. I walked into their showflat one guy was busy talking to a middle aged couple. then when he was done, he just told me and my hubby he needed to lock up and go. i thot he'd at least ask me if i'm looking for reno contractors which i was. I was so pissed i told him in the face, "Hey you think i cannot afford a flat here is it?" then he said i was very rude and petty.. i was like ??? sometimes we get this kind of treatment just cuz we are in our mid 20s.. well, li sheng did not bother abt out age and when we told him we wanted simple and balinese, he respected and said if we want this kid of design , we shd take out l-box and all that frills. instead we can just go for basic and practical design and get those lights and furniture to create the mood ... and he has nothing to gain from it!! That won our respect.
-
yup i also had unpleasant experience with Tong Hong Dun judge others by their relatives.
-
can be related but in terms of the showflat quality, they're worlds apart.
-
blk 29, which coincidentally was one of the SERS for Jln Membina. More than 10 yrs ago moved to queenstown new flat.
-
Yah.. location is great.. actually all my life i lived in havelock area then moved to queenstown area. can't imagine living anywhere that'll take >10 mins from town.. :-) Regarding the design.. well, what can wwe expect from HDB? It's not like it's condo. but i rather they dun do all those things and sell the flat for cheaper..
-
i think the door is a small extra :-) We like cooking so we need a door..
-
It's very messy now, tiling only half done... i expect the kitchen door will be one of the last things they make for us. I'm not sure if he's a contractor or ID. He does not seem very beng-ish, but on the other hand he seems like a hands-on person.. and he can shout when needs be. Other contractors I met I din like the quality..tiles badly done, chipped and so on.
