his dorcas, i understand your frustration. 3 of the 4 neighbourss staying on my floor can be classified as "Indian". Only one chinese. this chinese always leaves rubbish at the central chute floor. before they moved in, no such thing. so not "automatic" right. I don't have any problems with the indians. all educated. in fact, chinese neighbour shuld also be educated since they look late 20's to early 30's at most.. but their anti-social behavior is ...

Yeah people were much warmer in Mauritius too, and pace of life.. wahhh.. so slow.. when I came back to Singapore on a weekend.. I asked my hubby.. it's sunday, why are people walking so quickly? I went visiting with his family to some neighbours' houses too.. people were very warm, and Mauritian creole is cool cuz people tlak in such a gentle smooth way. They were all very nice too. I was much happier there... I did not lose my temper much even though there are some things I didn't like. I guess being in such a laidback culture makes your temper a bit better? I was also minority there.. but when I went to Chinatown in the capital, a woman (old chinese lady shopkeeper) guessed that I was from Singapore In fact I like Mauritius so much I want to live there one day, if only the crime rate is not so high there! Well, but they have more democracy than here. Surprisingly for a "developing" country more "backward" than Singapore, they rank up there with the western countries on their democracy!

good idea, but if these ba5tards are keen on breaking in, they'd stake out and maybe spy and see what time we come home? by the way, is it only me or did anyone else experience getting woken up by the noise at the coffeeshop possibly caused by the Euro matches past weeks?? i got woken up when man u played against dunno who and these was penalty shootout. **** tu lan

I'm not sure of tha fate thing, because I think believing too much in fate can make one give up easily on difficulties of life.. well, i'm not so great myself, i just try really hard from believing in fate.. but it is amazing that two people from different continents can come together. in a way, very similar to my parents, cuz my dad came from china and my mum's born here. Yups, you are right about having to teach the guy the different cultural things, because of the difference. But heres the fun I guess. If you are of the same culture, you'd hardly think about your cultures right? When I went o Mauritius, it took some getting used to because people greet each otehr much like the french way (kissing both cheeks). At first I was a bit squirmish at having to do that, especially to men. But soon I got used to it. When I came back, I missed greeting people this way In a way, it was good that he was not from a chinese culture, because you know how chinese had pretty silly traditions, such like the one you mentioned about women's underwear. I totally get what you mean. We've been together 5 years Half of yours.

I don't think it's so nice to highlight the word INDIAN. For e.g., I have a CHINESE neighbour who's obviously the limpei wu lui kind and obviously do not know how to use the central refuse chute and has habit of chucking rubbish just on the floor at the refuse chute.. nasty neighbours come in all races and religions...

Yep I met him while in uni here. I agree that some guys here are so mummy's boys and such a turn off! Originally I had worried we will not like each other's cuisine (I had been in another interracial relationship), but he was highly adaptable! In fact, I am now trying all means to get him to stop speaking singlish (but unsuccessful). We enjoy mostly the same food, chinese, thai, italian, muslim. I'm not such a big fan of indian food though. I don't mind the ocassional north indian food (he's ethnically north indian) though. He's from Mauritius The cuisine's great, it's like a mix of indian, french, and chinese. We are both of the opinion that some local guys are such wimps.. oops.. I'm gonna draw a lot of flack from saying this. I must emphasize on SOME though, lest I get tracked down and beaten up. I find traits in him that I have never seen in any local guys or guys I dated, such as being very hands on, build things from scratch (metal, wood, etc), being able to repair things... and even liking cooking! I guess these are traits in him that my dad had too. (my dad is chinese, just like my mum, but my dad moved here when he was 15 by himself and stayed with his cousin, so I really don't think he's the typical singaporean guy). Just a personal preference, I hate effeminate features on a guy.

definitely very high energy consumption. as to how long they last, it's average, but energy saving bulbs last longer.

Yes there is deinfitely white supremacy very much alive here. We don't have any kids yet but it'd be interesting to see how they turn out. When you are in an actual interracial/transnational marriage, one the last hurdles is actually the cultural difference. If one is not open minded enough. he/she wouldn't even go into an interracial marriage, right? Can your hubby speak any other language besides english? Could be interesting for the kids to know both languages and cultures from both sides. between my hubby and me, there are like 6 languages! H'es the more multi-lingual one though. My mum too used to worry I'd get cheated becuase he's a foreigner.. now she keeps telling him about about similarities between china and india all the time. It's quite amusing.. but then he gets "accused" by my mum of forgettting his roots because he'd claim he's not indian. Where he comes from, ethnicity is not a big deal like in singapore. there are many people from mixed heritages there

Ha that sounds like a really interesting experience, both interracial and "transnational". When it is like that, there are really a lot of things to learn about each other's culture! Like myself too, I'm also in an interracial and transnational marriage. For some reasons, to many singaporeans, the concept of a "race" is too overpowering for them to understand that people of the same "race" (I prefer the term ethnic group) can have different cultures because they are from different parts of the world! And one'd think it'd be easy for singaporeans to understand when singapore is a nation of immigrants, but apparently the concept is lost on them. Even when I start becoming a tad bit impatient and sarcastic by saying my hubby is as much like someone from india (he's indian ethnicity) as you are similar to someone from china. The appearance may be similar but that's about where the similarities end. It takes courage I guess. We go through racism everyday. People make the dumbest comments about someone who is of a different ethnic group (as is always, the majority usually holds the biggest prejudices). I get asked the same question by my mum (why can't you find a chinese guy). But she's alright with that now, so yeah, it's cool. By the way, I love curly hair on a child Cheers.

yeah this is very common for granite, especially so if they are not the extreme high quality ones. my hubby in construction business, he said granite always give such problems as they are very porous. it's by nature of the materials.

1. Lifts not maintained - break down often at Blk 27B, (feel free to add your block no if that happened to you) 2. Cleanliness in carpark 3. Noise of air in pipes still persisting 4. Malfunctioning or blown lights at lift lobby 5. No corridor washing 6. Rubbish piling at dustbin area 7. Corridor wall very dirty 8. Carpark lights not on from 3rd floor onwards Pls add to this list when you feedback and reply to this message. It is easier to compile than having to scroll through pages of posts. If you do not have specific feedback but also want to be involved in this petition for good neighbourliness and strong sense of justice (paying S&C every month and getting this level of service is no sense of justice), please add your name and support as well. And add below for your name. Will try to get your "real" name and blk no later. 1. makemefly 2. Simpleboi 3. VinceDelfino 4. binzz 5. Vacis 6. sparey 7. kriegs I did not take parking feedback into consideration as the letter will be to Town Council and parking does not come under their jurisdiction. If you are keen to report, pls contact HDB for the carpark issues and driveways. For public roads such as that along the Jlm Membina Rd, I believe it's under TP. Not so sure.. Flies? It's a general consequence of the estate being to poorly maintained. Hence, it'll be more forceful if we point to them at the list of tasks that are simply outstanding despite taking money from us every month!! Thanks for understanding.

His license no is SFU85Z, champagne gold nissan sunny. i'm **** pissed at him too. He's a **** potential hazard. I see parking wardens like two times last week on weeknights. Earlier, a few weeks ago, i saw TWO aunties in action at the same time on sat abt 12 pm.

Anyone has any feedback about the total lack of maintenance in our estate? I had gone to TPTC repeatedly but they did NOTHING. Pls let me know your concerns. I may be writing a letter and getting petition signatures from JMians.

Yep. My husband's cousin fell in love with a girl outside his ethnic group and religion. Parents on both sides were against the union. The girl later left for Australia with her parents, without telling him. His heart was so broken (I can only guess, since he remained single ever since). Sometimes I wonder if the parents regret their decision, cuz at the end of the day their child has no partner. Would you defy your parents/ family's wishes to be with someone you love just because they are different?

Just curious to see how you guys feel?

wow is that parquet or laminate?
