Let mi name a few; - lor 1 market (<10mins walk frm 79) carrot cake, chui kuen, bao, fried hokkien mee, muslim chicken rice... - lor 2/3 market (<10 mins walk frm 79) dry meepok, doashwan, bakutek... - lor 4/5 market (<10 mins walk frm 79) fried hokkien mee, kwayteow, carrotcake, satay beehoon, nasi lemak, craypot rice, satay, stingray seafood... - lor 7 market popian, wantan mee, kuen, veg rice, seafood, roast duck rice... - lor 8 market satay, bbq chicken wings, western grill, fried hokkien mee, kwayteow, kwaychap, carror cake, otak, veg rice... - Toa Payoh Central hdbhub foodcourt - muslim meerobus, daoshwan... kopitiam - goreng pisang, rojak, wantan mee, chicken rice... fast food restaurants, branded restaurants... Apologiz s i cant name all & their actual stall name & loc. Some olso only do business in the morning or nite. i'm those picky in food type, but i got no complain abt those i mention above. U gotta xplore & try out yorself after u'v settle dn in Toa Payoh.

Hey, i agree with u. But we olso mus play our part. Yes, its e hse mover sticker, red color 1. Mine olso stil got stain. **** irritated. Dunoe izit consider vandalism? Tot wana cal up e tel no. on e sticker & screw them upside-dn. Or maybe ask them 2 cleanup for mi. Hey, u got PM. Hey, its very nice of yor contractor to warn u. Gota b kiasu/kiasi for us inexperience neighbors in future. For mi, i heard a grp of younsters hanging arnd on e high flrs in either blk D or E. (4goten). Wat do u mean by uneven? (1) e tile surface is not 100% flat (wavy)? or (2) e joint between e tiles? Tiles not leveled? !!

Oh, sad 2 hear dat. Dats wat i'v been wonderin olso. From day 1 wen 'bangala workers' bring in e sand & tiles to near completion of renov, e same padlock/number-lock is shared with all 'workers' involved? Think dis shouldn't b e way. Personally, i feel dat we shd get 2 sets of locks; (1) period b4 e actual renov starts- screeding & defects rectification by hdb. After dis r done, change e lock, so dat 'bangala workers' & hdb's sub-workers canot enter flat. (they shdnt b enterin after their scope of work had been completed). (2) period wen actual renov starts- ID coordinatin all in-hse or sub-con works. As a professional, he shd b reponsible for all works under his charge, including his workers. If owner wana ngage additional sub-con (aircon, elect. etc), he/she shd liase with ID olso. All items deliver to site shd b counted-for. Only personel involved in renov can enter e 'flat'. By hdb rules, there is specific timing for renov works, so no 1 shd b enterin or leavin e 'flat' after e official reno workin hrs. Not flaming or sabotaging anyboby. i had been approached by 'workers' wen i was kpoin at 79. They volunteer 2 show me e units under renov, (promotin dis & dat). Most of e time is during late evenin or wkend. Can u imagine they can access e 'flat'? If they r certified skilled professional, i dun think they nid 2 resort 2 dis type of stragedy. Furthermore, i even suspect some of e 'workers' dun hav work permit. Dis r my personal view & encounter, pls dun quote mi Hey, can use yor name !! i'm yor neighbor, wait i get same ID co, do same design, buy same appliances/fittings, then we'l b 2 identical units side by side, typical hdb flats. How !!

U mean, yor own unit then u gota get good ID co, do until sui sui, aiyo, u shd b Haha. Then wher exactly is yor current or new unit now Yor parents' unit wher, done? by who? PM mi if not convenient. If i'm not wrong, there r a few more in 79, but i dunoe which 1. e 1 i noe is in blk C (between #25-#30, 4-rm), u go check out. i dun wana advertise here, not so nice of mi. Hi zanie98, eerr, no lah, mi havnt really sign with them. They r top on my list. As i hanvt collect keys, so shop around 1st loh. As i'v said, quality & service cums with a price. If u wan 2 see e blk C unit which is under renov by O.cubes, i can PM u dis person user name, u check with her whether can go look see. Shd b ok. Btw, wats yor renov status now?

Hey, yes, i noe ther r at least 2 units in blk C dat ngage Orgecubes. 1 of them is our fellow forumer kaki here. Now stil renov stage but so far e coments r good. Basically, good design, good workmarkship, good customer service, cums with a price Tot u olready ngage ID liao? U got another 'secret hm'? Welcome, welcome Welome, welcome Congratulations e wait is over. As at dis wk, think got >5 units in blk E started renov liao. I had olso wen in 2 check-out e 75sqm unit. 2 mi, its ok lah, not dat small, jus nice for a small family or appropriate for a young couple starting a new journey in life. Btw, e high lev units facing Toa Payoh Library, got fantastic view. Can see e jamming PIE at Kallang Basin area, olso not 2 mention e flying wheel & e sea.

Hi simeonlin, yes, fyi, elect wiring & water piping r done by hdb. Xposed r e connecting pts. Bathrms r olso tiled & sanitary fiitings r up, shower nozels, taps installed. Kitchen tiling olso done for 4 rm. Old guys? Name? Which renov co.? e info i had gatherd during my ID/renov co hunt, i find $10-13k is e average pricing but olso must depends on the quality of materials, workmanship, & schedule. - Olso, u gota take in2 considerations, is e kitchen top in 'postform'-cheaper or 'solid-top'-more expensive? Better grades solid-top eg. r cresto & corian (with warranty cert). Wat types of wood they using, (solid, thick-plys or compressed)? Wat types of external finish - textured/gloss laminates or veneer finish, ABS trimmings? Whether got nice layout for drawers/cabinets/chest, frosted glass top-hung cabinets, hydraulic hinges (anti-slam). Length of kitchen cabinet, wil b cheaper if got no island or C/L shape cabinets, top & bottom cabinets <20ft, no steel or glass suspended fixture. - Olso gota take in2 considerations got hackin of wall, relocation of door? Length of wardrodes? - Olso gota include extension of piping inlets & outlets & washin machine excess water drainage. - Olso gota include relocation or new elect lightin & socket outlet pts. - Olso gota take in2 considerations of any L-box with downlights ****/dining/master bdrm, or any false ceiling at entrance & bedrm foyer. - Olso gota include painting of whole hse (including exposed pipings & doors etc), haulage, chemical wash, clear debris. For laminate flooring, depends on individual. Some like e warmth kind of feeling. But mus get e better grades 1 (eg. from supreme or knonotex). Floor screeding b4 e laminates r being laid, r done by hdb for free. Gota submit form to them. Olso gota set aside aprox$10k for lightings, basic furniture (bed, dining table, tv-console, coffee & bedside table), elect appliances (tv, fridge, wash machine, hob & hood, dish wash basin, tap-mixer) window grilles, aircon. Lastly, gota depends wat's yor future plan for yor flat. If gona rent out then sell off 5yrs later, then basic renov of $10-13k is gd enuf. But if u wan cheaper price with very basic renov, there r <$10k 1s. Pardon mi if i write 222 loonngg or 2 kpo. !!

Wow, really nice www link 2 e blk79 constuction pix & bird's eye view I think all e high flrs in blk79 got million dollar view Yalor, i olso feels dat ID shd b e 1 coordinating e whole renov prj with e sub-con. Work according 2 e planned schedule. Las min. thingy shd b able 2 reduce 2 a minimum. 2day wen look arnd my unit surrounding, kinda annoying. Leaflets/pamplets at metal gate, cigarette butts, consumed drink bottles at door step. Sumore e 'hse moving' co sticker ad pasted on my front door. Wen i try 2 remove it, quite troublesum, needs water & skill. The driveway beside e future foodcourt, from 2-lane 2-way driveway, had becum 1-lane 2-way driveway due to illegal parking. Mayb i'm fussy or 2 particular. But i feel its not rite lei. Dunoe can complain anot? To Who? (cos i havnt moved in, not a resident yet leh)

Wow, so fast so many posts, read til Btw, dat appliances shop near e temple 1, reput'n not dat gd, if i dun remember wrongly. e 1 near kfc 1 is a relatively new joint, passed by some time ago, saw e 'offer', wow If any1 got time, can try check out e neighbourhood store (4 sty blk, beside flower shop) over beside lor 5 market. Used to be seling cheap yrs bak. Also e groceries shop, 4 daily necessities. i'm not promotin or gainin anytin. Jus sharin wat i noe, as i grew up in dis area (quarter of a century), like it here so much. Moved out, and now, I'l be back! Regarding, e CD compilations of e Blk 79 pics, i'm interested 2 hav a copy wen its ready, pay olso ok. (If got include other areas of Toa Payoh, would b best)

!! Hey, Blk E #35? !! i only saw at Blk D, bulks of sand & tiles had been delivered. Heard e nos. of renov in blk D is more than in Blk C. U check-out hdb tender notice in papers, see wat trade can b operate dn ther, u bid 1 shop, do sumtin 'special' loh. i sure go support everyday Dunoe anybody notice anot? For the pass wks, unit nos. frm blk D & E had came out in 4D. Btw, any fellow neighbours' hm is being designed & renovating by orangecube? PM me if hav, would b very interested 2 hav a lok. But i havnt sign lei. Personally, best bargain & comfy is frm Cisceern but e type of design i would l like 2 do is frm orangcube & urban (modern contempary type) Gota decide b4 e promo ends. Yah, lately many furnishin sales, can check it out. Olso olso goin 2 sg expo, dis wkend, got promo package frm well-known designer. Yalor, i olso wondering y sum ppl gona relay water piping & electrical wiring Piping & wiring r already done by hdb, concealed either in e wall or ceiling, xposed r e conectin points. Gues sum of u mayb doin a big renov or changing e orig hdb layout, dats y nid relay. U mean how much e shop selling, u can control? Seems like dis RC chairman is a all-rounded? Halo, fellow neighbours of 79 Mi jus found out abt dis forum, thru a new neighbour, wen i was xploring my new neighbourhood. haha Aniway, fyi, mine is balloted, havnt get key yet. Checked frm salesoffice, e officer say may hav 2 wait 2-3mths time 2 get my KEYS Good & bad lah. Good - can save more $, esp CPF yr end interest. Bad - gota endure my current rowdy neighbourhood. Had been reccein arnd the blk lately, made some new frnds, who r like-minded. Dat day wen i was at my new blk, discovered my new neighbour is the 1st & only 1 who had collected e key for e entire blk, & started with renov. Wen i tried 2 start a conversation, aiyo, dunoe wat 2 describe, mayb i not handsum or mayb i lok like a contractor, he is proud & dun wana chat with me Had olso seen sum renov, but mostly at e early stage. Mayb i shd go dn sats afternoon, so dat can make new frnds & 'copy design'.
