Things are starting to shape up! Can't wait to see how your place looks with all the furniture in -
Hello! Popping by to say that I've been following your updates and boy, things are moving along quickly! I'm still waiting for carpentry stuff to be fabricated Progress really is slow and steady haha. Wise decision by your ID to have the glass stuff up last! My contractor says the same as well (we're getting an external self-sourced supplier), cause he's scared that his workers will break things they aren't supposed to. Have you managed to find out more about the storeroom racks and curtains? Any particular kind of racks are you looking at? Need to start sourcing for them soon too

Hello Lola! So far only the sink is pending, we decided to keep the tap for our own use. I think I haven't tried hard enough (to post on other platforms) to sell these items so.. Anyone who's reading this, the doors and toilet bowl are still available!!!! Yes, sucha waste to just throw according to my contractor his client managed to sell a toilet bowl for $50 before. So yes, possible Thank you! It's a pleasure sharing the journey cause we are still learning the ropes to renovations as well! Have PMed you his details (:

Thanks we dont know anyone using ikea butcherblock and so, are anticipating to see how it'll turn out! Yes, seems to be. Online doesn't have much info on whether it's a necessity though. The aircon installers had no qualms trimming it for us and we trust our contractor so we are okay with it. Noted! Will be prepared to develop some muscles doing cleaning haha

Yeap, we told the supplier that highest usage for aircon will likely be the study room and master bedroom. They suggested thicker insulation for study room only, so we went along with it Same goes for the aircon units. When shortlisting suppliers, we sent out our floor plans and got them to suggest appropriate BTU sizes they think will be sufficient for our various rooms~

Hello @slashmylove! According to the quotation, our insulation is 3/8" thickness class '0' thermaflex (copied word for word from the quote haha) We upgraded to 1/2" thickness for study room only. Hope this helps!

I see, that's a very valid point! We're using PD doors for master so hopefully the clicking sound won't be an issue. Splurge for master (louvered type ) nd save on common toilet doors haha. The wooden bifold style I think my parents are using something similar for their toilet. Quite useful but doors are slightly thick. They also make sounds when opening/closing cause of the magnets which 'stick' both panels together when closed. But definitely softer than the bifold clicking noise. Yeah he really makes sure the options given can last one. Those not as lasting he's quite reluctant to recommend -

Got summoned by Edmund to check on something with you. See, told you he keeps you close to his heart! Haha Planning on getting 2 panel bifold doors instead of 4 panel kind but he says they aren't as lasting. Have yours been holding up well so far and do they feel robust enough? Also why are your doors inside out! Is it on purpose..? -
Glossy is easier to upkeep, right? Neither of us is super particular about cleanliness so idk if it is a good or bad thing for our kitchen! But chosen already, no turning back haha Yesss I'm super excited too! Feels like though the finishing point is not within reach, it's at least somewhere within sight. We asked E about the clear glass top today, he says no go cause can see any water pooling inside + will not look nice cause of the silicon seals' refractions within the glass . We picked a white top in the end!

IKEA BUTCHER BLOCK COUNTER TOP Some background on our kitchen and the chosen kitchen countertops.. We've always liked the butcher block countertop type of look - probably due to watching too much cooking shows and videos on tv + youtube! So we tried asking various contractors about the options for wooden or wood-look kitchen countertops. And all basically said kompacplus is the way to go. In the end, we found out that IKEA countertops are also a viable option (yay!!!), but they are less hardy than kompacplus. Thus we decided to do up the sink/hob side with kompacplus as the countertop, and to use a IKEA butcher block for the dry side of the kitchen. This way, we get to enjoy the best of both worlds: thicker look + cheaper price (IKEA), resistance to water and heat (kompacplus). Excited to see how it will all turn out! Went down to IKEA Tampines on Monday to purchase the countertop as Contractor E will be having the carpenters to come in next week to start measurements & commence carpentry works. Finallyyy our reno works will be continuing its progress! Brought a sample of the chosen kompacplus along in my bag haha. Trying to see if it matches the showroom's counter But it seems like the colour best matches the rattan pot mat instead Ultimately, we narrowed our choices down to Karlby Oak & Mollekulla Oak. Main difference apart from the price is that the Karlby top looks like it's constructed from little strips of oak, while Mollekulla has a plank-like finish and looks more like natural wood. We opted for the plank finish in the end. Also picked up a bunch of brass coloured knobs, handles and half-cup drawer pulls for the cabinet doors. Decided to get them all from IKEA in the end instead of mixing and matching with those we bought from TB as we wanted to ensure the colours looked the same. We also decided to revisit our kitchen choice and pick a matte white instead of glossy. Bin went abit mad trying to pick a shade that matches our subway tile backsplash yet doesn't look too yellowish. Plus, King was of no help as he thought that the shades of white all look the same (either yellowish or not yellowish, two categories only ). Our final choice is the one on the right. There's a typo on the laminate sample though. It's named Igloo White in the laminate booklet hahah

If we've the time to head down to electrical shops again, will do just that Haha your fan does look nice! Generally I feel black fans are more aesthetically pleasing but we've decided to stick to all-white ceiling fixtures for our home. Hope that it'll look nice as well Sure, Pmed you.

Mmm care to elaborate further? From what I checked previously, Contractor E has about 4-5 projects on hand and he seems to be managing fine.. IDEA! Shall try checking with him if that might work better than the white. Hehe

If you're still looking for a wall mural artist, can take a look at: http://www.mslatenightjam.com/ Not too sure about the fees/price but she was commissioned to do some paint artworks for my company, pretty impressive work! -
Yeah we aren't using solid top in any other parts of the house so there's a minimum order of 4ft though the vanity only uses about 3ft. Have to absorb the extra cost kompacplus counted as 3ft so the price in the end no difference! We're doing floating shelves, something like this: In this laminate: Maybe in the end a matchy wood kompacplus might look better but still expensive imo!

Ooh great advice @Catt! But we'll be using kompacplus for one side of the kitchen and ikea countertop for the other side. So it prolly won't work for both materials . When my sister did her reno she used leftover tiles as shampoo ledges too (I stalked her t-blog then haha). But anyway our shampoo ledges have already been bought from TB so there's no turning back Yeah we asked him to find out the price for your solid surface! Cause I rmb the price is quite reasonable, plus looks pretty He encouraged us to get kompacplus since we're already using it for kitchen but I was quite insistent on something non-woody since we picked wooden laminates too for the bathroom. Ultimately, the price for solid surface may end up being the same as or very slightly more expensive than kompacplus. But right now my heart is set on getting a marble-look vanity top. And I was quite stubborn about it when discussing with him. Ah wellll, shall see how it goes~
