Lightbulb Pulsing When In Off Position!
LouiseBrown replied to bfg100k's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
Hi I must first say that I am no electrician and neither am I trying to scare U. However, I have seen first hand, very badly burnt (almost electrocuted) patient due to mishandling or mishap in dealing with electrical faults. Please quickly get a qualified electrician (means got gahment licence) to check this for U. Life is very precious. Take care. -
If U are going to have babies soon, please consider MaCe's suggestion : No skirting. My son regretted having marble and parquet skirting in his house cuz his 1-year old toddler had a nasty accident with the skirting. Juz tahan a simple but SAFE abode for a few years for the sake of kids.

Water Seepage Problem
LouiseBrown replied to ARCHer's topic in Landed & Condo Private Properties Renovation Discussion
Hi bfg100k 7 yrs old, wow that's beyond the warranty period. The usual warranty period is only 1 year after TOP/collection of keys and in my 2nd case, the developer (a local bank) was nice enuff to honor the repairs a second time round. The first property was built by one of our listed company which also rectified the problem without any fuss from me. However, I think U might have a case cuz I tot exterior walls (in some instances) is considered common property under MCST regulations (???). I am afraid that U will hve to check if the wall falls under 'common' property. Hope this helps. -
Water Seepage Problem
LouiseBrown replied to ARCHer's topic in Landed & Condo Private Properties Renovation Discussion
I had 2 experiences of water seepage problem with 2 pte properties...albeit not very major. Both cases the developer made good with pressure grouting..........the second property, had it done twice cuz the first repair did not solve the seepage. But no idea how much it cost. Having said this, must correct the problem as quickly as possible cuz the water will damage irrepairable damage to stainless steel beams or pillars. -
Pl google cuz I ain't any idea. Never bought any stuff from them but personally know that many banks and govt offices buy from them cuz can c that they win many public tenders for supply of office equipments.
-
If U want the ex ones like those in the National Library, U can check with Kim Leng which imports Jap good-quality furniture for many govt offices. I think the office is along Jln Besar.
-
Yes, there are manufacturing defects even in tiles. Actually a good tiler can advise the minute he c the tiles.
-
Yesterday, I bought some $1200 worth of lights from the D.I.Y shop at the junction of Jln Besar and Kelantan Rd. U can c it from the main road, a big 2-storey new-looking shop. Am happy with the sales service and reasonable prices. Can visit and c if they've got what U want.
-
Juz last month, I visited the shop and was totally put off by the saleswomen's bad attitudes. They talked as if I know nothing abt beds. I simply probe them more and they gave me dark looks. What's more they don't even listen to my question and answer it.

Yes I was at IMM last month and also could not find any shop that sells laundry systems. In fact, can write-off IMM now for home reno cuz it has become juz another shopping mall. I was recommended this company :- http://www.tame.com.sg Maybe U can view their website. Cheers.

Hi Compassvale Thanks for sharing. U've got good color sense and balance! I'll be getting a Corian top for new aprt. I use cork mats to prevent scratching and also paper coasters that are replaced every year. In place of granite/hard plastic, I hve decided to get big and long basins that would serve as vanity tops for my toilets. Cheers.
-
Hi discman Thanks a lot. Can compare prices, good.
-
I have had used both granite and Corian tops. I find the granite one harder to maintain than Corian. The granite top is less smooth than Corian. Granite is also more porous than Corian (being hard plastic, it does not take in moisture at all). The granite (actually I have 4 different colors of granite since I have 4 toilets) somehow look rather dirty after several years of use (maybe it needs some chemical wash). On the other hand, the Corian looks good. Others may differ which is fine with me.

Long ago (I think soon after the SCT was set up), I made a claim against a dry cleaner for damaging my evening dress. The SCT sat and both the cleaner and I spent the first meeting agreeing to disagree. The second meeting, the cleaning company rep did not turn up. I wasted my half-day leave which I could have sold in exchange for $$. At the third meeting, also talk, talk, talk. The SCT mediator kept saying that we have to each concede something..............like that it became such a waste of time. At the end, I withdrew my claim cuz it is not worth my time pursuing the case. Actually I made the claim juz to see what the SCT was like and could do for me. In short, don't be too optimistic abt this.

Hi Compassvale Thanks for the link. I looked at it and note that Taka Orchard sells the Herman Miller chair. Do U know where is Taka Orchard??? Hi other forumers What abt the ergo chairs sold by one shop at Marina Square Centre (cannot remember the name of the shop)??? They always advertise in the ST. Cheers.

Hi applefreak - Thanks a million. Very German indeed - Never heard of these brands. Hi applefreak + MaCe - Ya! Sure cost many bombs. Palais Renaissance, this place I've never ventured in cuz 'Palais' oredi scare me off.

In 2day's Straits Times, there was a 'trailer' advertisement about German Furniture being in the vogue in Singapore in the Lianhe Zaobao. As I don't read the Chinese newspaper, could any1 who does compose a short write-up of the article?? I would really appreciate it!!

Redbottle - Thanks a million. Now I have more confidence in my contractor-to-be's quotation. xXTReMEXx - Thanks a lot for this info too. Now I know I gonna ask for certificate and warranty. Cheers.
-
Hi redbottle May I check with U on the cost again?? Is the quote of S$140 per foot the price of the Corian solid top only, without the cabinet?? That means the cabinet is separate charge? My contractor charge me S$100 per foot for lower cabinet. And also S$130 for the Corian solid top per foot run. Is this what U mean, separate cost for cabinet and Corian top? Cheers.

I had been using the tank Ariston electrical water heaters for some 25 years. When the tank leaks (around 5 years old), it's time to replace it. No point repairing it cuz that's the in-built shelf life. In fact, I have stopped using Ariston cuz twice the tank leaked when the whole family was overseas. My toilet got flooded and my neighbor called my mother for help. So, it is better to automatically replace it after 5 years rather than wait for it to leak.

Hi Forumers Has any1 laid carpet tiles in their bathrooms??? I was at Kim Hup Lee 2day and saw very beautiful carpet files, made in China. They are really gorgeous but I wonder if any1 had encountered maintenance problems with them?? Cheers.
