Air, jiayou lar. Then you can relieve your husband from driving. !! Maybe the TP just want to let you feel "heng ar".. By right, he no need to deduct so much one leh?
-
Ya man!! Whenever you go for car hunting, the sales person will take a look at the female party and said : Auto car right? !! Ma jiam only guys then can drive manual. Glad we both prove otherwise. !!
-
Hmm... Have you ask the TP why he failed you? My instructor told me, some TPs are very nice and kind. They will actually tell you your mistakes. But the young ones, always ya ya papaya one. Give ppl the impression like they are the king or minister. My brother failed once, and the TP was kind enough to tell him he failed him because he felt he was not stable on roads, even though he was perfect in circuits. In the end, he paid more for lessons on the road, and with more practice, he passed on 2nd attempt. When I 1st start to learn driving, I also like that leh. I will step on the pedal like petrol is free. Till the state you can smell the clutch burning. I still remember my instructor's look on his face whenever he smelled the clutch burning. Because, when I just started learning from him, his car is only 1 week old. But seriously, practice made perfect. You gotta let him try for countless times. Maybe he is scared of your nags while you are beside him. Stress lar. By right, manual's consumption should be better than auto. But if driven the wrong way, manual can eats more petrol than auto.
-
Ya lor. Later u display your skill, they will think you are trying to show off, then fail you. What do you mean by spending more petrol each month? He full throttle on the 1st gear like nobody's business cause he scared die car ar?
-
Then you should train him more to drive manual car mah. You can be his 'instructor' for his refreshing classes. Really have leh. My instructor also got tell me about this before. He said ar, some TPs like their candidates to drive like a pus*y, some prefer them to show their skills. Got many types of TPs one. You know what my instructor do? On the day of my test, he went up to the waiting area with me. Then he point out the different likes and dislikes of individual TP that passed our sight. He then pointed to a nice looking TP and told me that if I ganna him, I just need to relax and drive normally. No need to act innocent or drive like a tortoise. Luckily for me, I really ganna that TP and I passed my test with only 4 points deducted.

Ya lor, I agree leh. Some people simply just like to tailgate people for nothing. What's the point of tailgating and cutting our lanes? If they are really so power, they should not challenge the normal folks like us. 'White ants' are everywhere now. They can try to challenge them or the WRXs with the orange strips along our expressways. KNS. Yeah yeah! I will fall asleep when I drive auto cars. I always thought that auto is more dangerous than manual. At least I can control the speed of the car by 'down gear' whenever I am taking corners. For auto, you can only step on the brakes. I had worked in a accident reporting centre before. I remembered a case when an owner driving an auto car came for accident reporting. He lan ga when he is trying to negotiate a bend. Then he told me, he don't have this kind of stupid mistakes when he is driving a manual car. He was going at about 90km/h before taking the bend. He said, auto cars can only step on the brakes and it is hard to determine the safe speed for taking corners. Somehow, I agree with that guy. Manual cars

Sigh. It left me thinking for hours too. But I think hor, this ppl, they just act sweet and demure in front of those TPs. Either that, they just act innocent or kuku. But it is also possible that they failed countless times before getting the lic. We will never know.. To reason out with the driver on the road is not really wrong lar. As long as it stays civil. But I am just afraid that the lady might turn violent. *shudders* You are so right about the last sentence. I had seen petite ladies driving those huge cars like Estima or Lexus IX series. They need to stretch to their limits to see above the dash boards. Those huge sedans like BMW 7 series is worse. They can only see the speedometers on their dash boards.
-
Yup. Exactly. I wonder if it's the same driver. KNS. A total disgrace to girls. I can be quite a lian if I really want to. While she was tailgating me, my passenger, a guy friend seemed fret out by the whole incident. It appears like a shock to him. Sigh. If I really stop the car and argue with her, I think with my fiery temper, I would had ended up in a fight with her. I did thought of stopping the car and see what she intended to do to me. But then hor, the car had just been resprayed 2 days ago. What if she is more lian than me and kick the car or do something funny leh? Can't take the risk lar. *tsk tsk* Exactly! They think they pay more insurance and road tax, they are entitled to drive along a larger floor area than us. Really crappy.
-
At least your incident is not that bad. About 2-3 years ago, I was driving from Ang Mo Kio towards the direction of Serangoon Gardens. It was a Saturday afternoon and I was heading there for my lunch with a few friends of mine. I was travelling along the centre lane and my speed was about 70-80km/h. There was a Nissan MPV, purple blue in colour travelling on my right. It was a female young driver. Without warning, the Nissan MPV tried to cut into my lane. WTF. When I looked over, the rear left door of the MPV was just beside my face!! I think this woman CANNOT drive at all. I sounded my horn at her. She then kept back to her own lane. I continued on, thinking she would either pick up speed to overtake me or decrease her speed before cutting into my lane safely. But **** no. All she did was attempted to cut in again, this time, with her signal on. Her car was just beside me lor. Kaoz. I sounded my horn at her again when she nearly hit onto my car. Guess what? She accelerated and point her middle finger at me after winding down her window. ARGHHH. She even had the decency to hurl vulgarities at me. I was super pissed off by then. I heck care her and increased my speed too. Blood was boiling and I could not think straight. Without knowing, my speedometer read 110km/h. That was what my passenger told me after that. After scolding me and pointing her middle finger at me, she tried to play punk and squeeze into the same lane as I was. Try to picture it. She was sharing a lane with me. I was peeved and I refused to budge too. I was thinking to myself, "Why the heck must I give in to her when she is behaving like a total road bully?" Super du lan. After that, I gave in to her subsquently. I took the left most lane cause I really don't wish to have any accident at all. She was 'fierce'. I sped off, fuming inside, at the same time, cursing and swearing in the car to my passenger. But it did not end here. The stupid driver chased me and followed me to my destination near Serangoon Gardens. She then tailgated me till the filter lane when there is a Shell petrol station on the left. Bo liao right? She did not gave up her chase. Seeing her intention to stick to me like a leech, I drove past Serangoon Gardens and turned into a small road where there are loads of private houses. She persisted and tailgated me still. After making countless rounds within that premises for 15 minutes, she gave up and drove off. Have anyone seen ppl like that? Unreasonable barbarians. Till date, my blood still boils whenever I recalled this incident. Come to think of it, I should have make a police report. People like them should be kept off the road. Period. Ok, end of story. Maybe to people who read this entry might think I am at fault too for not giving way to her. Seriously, I would had given way to her provided she move up to a safe distance before attempting to cut in. To let her cut in when she is just BESIDE my car was far too dangerous. I would need to do hard braking just for her. What if the car behind me cannot react in time? I really don't wish to cause any accidents. Just a place to vent my anger and thoughts.

........... That's really very kua zhang leh.. I had also seen people stopping in the middle of the road, waiting for people to give way to them. Really irritating. They hold up the traffic along the whole stretch of road. Even if you horn at them, they can practically ignore you. Really buay paiseh one. But not all female drivers drive like cocks leh. Some are ok one lar. I had seen loads of aunties who drive faster than my bf.. But have you met any road bully before? Any experience to share?
-
Wow! That's a huge jump from 850cc to 2500cc. What car is he driving now? Do you drive his car at times too? Your reply on the 90km/h thingy really made me laugh out loud. I wonder how their instructors taught them... They will strictly keep to the limit of the highway. Be it 80km/h or 90km/h. When your are behind them, you can only LL can overtake them on the left when they will happily cruising. Can get really pek chek about it. But most of the times hor, I do noticed that drivers of Mercedes or BMW are like that. Of course, no offence to those ppl driving the above.. Just that so gum that those road hogging drivers happened to drive expensive cars. Either they are travelling along the right most lane at 70km/h, or they are driving in the centre of 2 lanes.
-
Yup, wait till it pass the 5K mark, maybe we will do some 'experiments' with it.. But again, I think the increasing price of petrol will help us to lessen our hold on the pedal.. Later no $$ pump petrol sia.. My cousin got her lic thru the school too, but she switched to private cause she buay tahan the way the driving instructor taught her. I also believed that private instructors can teach you more on the driving techiques on the road. Schools are like more 'theory'... So, your bf had already changed his car le ar? No more 850cc?
-
My friends do slam after the 1k mark, but it is still better to wait till the 5k mark. No hurry.. We waited so long because it's imported in. We did not get from C&C. Not that we don't want, but C&C no longer carries Evo 9 and it is the last batch available le.. So, we don't have much choice. Hi Diva, it's such a waste not ot have a lic when your hubby is driving such a powerful car. Do get your lic quick. You taking manual or auto? Hi Applefreak, you are right about the overtaking part. Haha, I had once tried to overtake cars using those smaller cc cars, it's really pathetic. I full throttle liao, but the car was barely moving, and yet the engine sounds like it is going to explode. -.-" But of course, I was driving another 3 passengers in the car, that probably explains the lack of power of the car.
-
Hi Zeny, very fast leh ur reply.. The car is only about 2 months old. We got it in mid August mah. Waited real long for it. But the wait is really worth it. Currently, we only 'run' 2000+ nia leh.. Done the 1st servicing at 1000, and the next servicing is at 5000.. It's better to wait till it hit 5000 before we slam on the pedal. Btw the way, our number plate starts with SGW. We signed the sales agreement in March and was promised delivery in July. But dragged for about 2 weeks. We bidded for our number plate in June, that's why it's not SGX or SGY. And you are right about the speed thingy. It's not high speed that makes us 'wet', it's the pick up of it.
-
Hi Air, your home looks really nice and cosy.. *envy envy*
-
I had not really gotten too fast with it. Still in 'running in' mode. -.-" Anyway, with my bf in the car, I got to lighten my foot on the pedal. I do agreed that buying sports cars in Singapore is relatively not a very good idea. All the traffic lights, jams TPs and ROVs, not to mention speed check cameras etc... But again, driving fast is not the only way to feel the power of the car. Speed is not = power. Nowadays, ppl seldom play high end. Most of my friends indulging in driving performance cars concentrated more on the low -mid end. I don't really know much, but I had once heard that it would be better for tracks bah. Hmm, perhaps Diva will be able to shed more light on this, since ur hubby often go tracking.
-
Ermmm...I had only been to the flat twice. One to check out the surroundings, another time with the HDB contractor to check for defects. Next Sunday, will be my third time going there. For 'open door'. Btw, where do you stay? Yup, sad but true about the limitations on Singapore roads. Totally agree with you on the maintaining part. Kind of xiong. Now still quite new, not much problems. Wait till the car gets alittle bit 'cranky' that is when all our $$ flies. For my case, I am more addicted to the speed and the power churned out by the car, but my bf is ok with driving it slow. Tell you something even funnier, I am the one who hopes to drive it into the tracks of Sepang and PG, not my bf! Jokes aside, I am still a law abiding citzen.

Best Hotels To Hold Wedding Banquet? Reasons Pls!

Now that you had mentioned, I just dug out the bottles that we had from DFS. The hard liquor really have stickers. Some are already embossed on the bottle, some are just stick-on stickers. The stickers were half right, but I distinctly heard something about the size too. Maybe I should go and check it out. If really not much difference, can try to sneak a few bottles in. But hor, if ganna caught, will be super paiseh one leh.. -
I am lazy to list out the stuffs. Thus, I am using Korea's one for reference. Monthly expenses are as follow : 1. Petrol - $500-600 (that's only when we are travelling to and fro work on weekdays and regular outings on weekends.) 2. Cash card for parking, ERP etc - $100-$150 3. Season parking - $100 (both for work and home) 4. car washing & vacuum - We wash and wax ourselves. My bf cannot stand ppl touching his car. -.-" 5. car installment - $1300 Yearly expenses : 1. road tax - $1800 (I think so ar, for 2000cc car, correct me if I am wrong) 2. insurance - $4000!!! (My boyfriend still beri young + performance car, thus the high insurance) We got additional spending. Haiz. New car so need to do loads of mods. Till date, spent about 3k-5k on the mods. No $$, so budget lor. Tomolo, we will get to change GT wing and CF boot. Another 2k+ gone. I don't dare to think about the servicing $$. *shudders* Got the car at a pretty wrong time. Wedding + House + New car..... Hope that our finances can work out well. Hi Diva, Previously, my bf was driving a coupe, then changed to Honda Civic 2.0L. Kept it for 1 year, then got influenced by me to get a 'fast' car. And yes, i am a fan of performance car. But true about the petrol. Imagine we are still staying quite near our wrk place. Only 10 mins drive if got jam, the petrol already so much. Sigh. I don't dare to think how much will it goes up to after we move to Pasir Ris.
-
Haha. Why ? I will be collecting my new keys next Saturday. Excited sia. My new flat will be at Pasir Ris St 41. What about you?

Best Hotels To Hold Wedding Banquet? Reasons Pls!

I know that's the regular practice. But I think if hold separately, the wedding coordinator said that it wud be rather rush. I also dun know leh. Sigh. They said, somemore, it's on a weekday, how to get your relatives to come earlier? Not all my friends can take leave on that day leh. So sian. But again, how do they differentiate whether the wines or liquor are duty paid or duty free? I don't see any stickers on indications on the bottles leh. -

That's a fast reply!! To be frank, I can't really remember what is the XXX++ amount le. At that point of time, we only ask the wedding coordinator to give us the nett amount for each table. And the figure is roughly 900 plus. On our side, we don't really have much tables. Just enough to hit the minimum requirement of the hotel. As for the beer hor, they are giving us free flow of beer leh. Somemore ar, there is no corkage for the red wines or hard liquor that we will be bringing in, except they must all be duty-paid lar. (Cannot sneak in those DFS purchases liao.) I had tried to go town on a weekday by driving there straight after my work. Kaoz. The traffic is really scary lor. I remembered once I left my office at 6pm, and I took CTE. The traffic on CTE is still ok lor. But once I exit the Cairnhill exit, I nearly faint. The long stream of cars waiting to go town!! I spent a freaking 30-45mins before I reached the carpark near Liat Towers. And that was on a Monday lor! I only have 1 worry. As I am holding my solemization ceremony just before the dinner, I am afraid that the ballroom will half emptied. Sigh. I am hoping my friends and relatives don't OT on that day and leave their office on the dot!! -

Hi Air, The main ballroom is really nice and grand like you had said. I was practically over it when I 1st entered it. But thanks for your advise on the cold food, will confirm plus chop plus warranty feedback to my wedding coordinator. Hi Korea, I think I know which ballroom you are talking about. Is it the one next to the swimming pool? It is nice in a way, cause you can open up the glass doors to have direct access to the pool. Otherwise, you can just pull open the curtains for a 'wow' feeling. But we forgo that because of the pillars. Hi Fifi, actually, initially, Maritus Mandarin was not our 1st choice. We nearly signed the package with Grand Copt. However, before we were to sign the appointment with them, I accompanied a friend of mine to view the ballrooms and packages of Meritus Mandarin. That was how we changed to them instead. As for the food, we had not been to the food tasting yet. We are still pondering whether we should go for it or not. What do you suggest? We are those very easy going folks. As long as the food don't turn out to be like what I had cooked during my Home Economics lessons in sch can liao. But you had mentioned that you would like to have your dinner there, if not for the pricing issit? Is it very expensive? The prices I had got are from their promotion I think. Anyway, ours is on a weekday cause that's the date we got after checking our bazi. Did not manage to get a weekend. But is 900 consider reasonable on a weekday? I seriously had zero idea about the rates of wedding packages. We both were busy checking out the ballrooms to really think properly. Hope we won't lose much. But traffic wise, we both thought it was an excellent location leh. I mean, it is supposed to be near MRT and not very ulu mah. Of course, in town also = heavy traffic on working days. But, I guess, it is still better than Grand Copt because of the acessibility of the MRT. I am just keeping my fingers crossed that it won't rain that day. -
Thanks guys for all the precious replies. I will make a trip down to the places that you guys had recommend.
-
WAH.. it seems to me I got a very expensive quote. I did not ask much details on where the strings come from, except that I note that shop looked kind of classy. But I don't think the price includes installations or tracks. I remembering asking the sales person on how to hang up the curtains. She gave me a rather 'ur so stupid look' and told me that I can either fix tracks or just stick them up the ceiling MYSELF. I guess that just means that I got to find my own tracks and install them myself bah. Btw, I can't get tracks cause the place where I am going to hang my curtains is not in a straight line. Any other suggestions on how to stick it up? To Applek24 : Can you kindly PM me the shop or person that you got your string curtains from?
