Hi Alister, Thanks for sharing the very nice photos of your home. But I think you have left out your very nice twinkle twinkle bathroom!
-
Hmmm...how about the 3D drawings then...

Hey people, I am really glad to see more and more Avartars showing the completed renovation of our homes! I mean, after spending so much money and resources (and sometimes even heartache and tears) to see our reno project to the completion, is it not normal to want to share the final fruit with our fellow neighbours!?! Come on 79ers, show us your beautiful homes!

Actually come and think of it...even the hotels had similar problems with the delay of supply of hot water too. I just returned from my trip to KL during which i stayed at the Concorde hotel. You guess what? I turn on the hot water and there was none for almost a minute! I thought it was a problem unique with my room until my other colleagues also reported the same problem. So, by comparision, our 1/2 pail of water is still OK!

Nope. You should do it at the HDB Branch Office located above the Toa Payoh KFC...

As posted earlier, I do have a problem waiting for the warm water to travel to the outlets in the toilets initially. But it is really a matter of getting used to it. After using the heater for almost 3 months now, this is really not an issue anymore. - Half a pail of water is really not a lot, by the time we finish with washing our hands and feet after we got home, the warm water has already travelled to the taps! Not forgetting that there are other advanatages too: - Water output is stronger when warm and cold water is mixed. So, the shower is more shoik! - Can also access warm water at more than one outlet. Remember, its not just the bathroom showers, but also the taps at your bathroom sinks and kitchen too! - *Based on our usage, we are also not seeing any sudden rise in electricity bill (compared to using the instant heaters last time). *Usually we would try to leave the switch off. We will only on it in the morning, off it when we leave house, and then in the evening when we are home and then off it before going to sleep. Once you are used to this habit, the heater will always have enough time to heat up so that warm water is always available when you most need it.

Want to voice my personal opinion about the food at the new FoodPark... Ordered Fish N Chips today at the western stall today. Saw that it was a "Chef recommendation" item on the signboard. Had to wait more than 5 minutes for it and many people ordered it...so I thought must be quite good...boy was I wrong... The fish was deep fried for so long and is so unhealthily oily that my tummy is still churning now after my meal at 7pm! Maybe I am being unreasonable or harsh...but hey, if you want to serve food like this, I feel I have an obligation to issue a Health Warning to those who may be next in line to fall into your trap! People, you have been warned, eat from this stall at your own risk!!

On the brighter side, fellow forumners will now have a common place within Blk79 itself to gather and catch up with each other! I shall be having kopi at the coffeeshop today around 7pm...anybody joining me?

Hopefully the Sky Garden will be opened....I can sleep under the stars!

No lah...I already knew my girlfriend then (now my wife). Don't really know her that well also... P.S. This is a public forum lah...what else would you expect me to say

Not forgetting the vegetarian cake shop too...it's the one with the brightly painted walls...Sigh, I still remembered that time I really wanted to take some photos of the old Blk79 before it was torn down. WHY DIDN'T I DO IT THEN

Wow...I actually worked in the same office as Ann Kok before she shot to stardom! It was my poly attachment at Tradewinds Travel Agency many years back and she was working there then. She is really a down to earth person. It was around the time she was going for the interviews and auditions and she would have to rush off from work to catch a taxi (to Mediacorp) on certain days. She kept this a secret all this while and it was only when she made it to Starsearch that I knew what was actually happening!

Wow...this really brings back fond memories... I knew about that shop too. Back at the days when the VCD format was just taking root, I bought a VCD adaptor from that shop that allows my Playstation to play VCD. I remembered that this was my very first VCD player and that must have been at least 11-12 years back! I have small piece of history from the old Blk79 sitting in my new house now too...it is a wooden TV trolley that was bought from the Blk79 furniture shop about 7 years ago. This item is still in great shape and is used to hold my LCD TV and game consoles in my glass room

I believe it is still locked most of the time. I know because my son will always ask me to bring him to see the "Big Sun" at the MSCP rooftop garden and then go blow bubbles at the Skygarden! There were once or twice we got lucky and the gates were unlocked, but most other times they were locked There was one evening a few weeks back we bumped into a staff from HDB at the rooftop garden entrance. We were told that someone had earlier removed the wooden door and some illegal wanderers had even set up a camp at the sheltered area near the entrance!! I had actually seen it with my own eyes too! It was even complete with mattresses and shades for privacy! At that time, I thought it was a resting place for the construction workers at the garden, but apparently it was not! Imagine a slump right at our doorstep! Anyway the police had been called in and the place was taken down immediately! Thank GOD! Anyway, the staff also said that the garden is still not opened yet and there are still many things to be rectified with the building contractors. To my son's dissapointment, we were told not to go into the garden for our own safety. From then on, the gates were securely locked most of the time. BTW, if you do wander to the MCSP rooftop gardens, please take a closer look before you sit down! There are thousands of caterpillars everywhere! Hope the contractors will be able to fix this problem when the gardens are officially opened....

Hi Zanie, If it is of any consolation....I must say that this year's CNY fireworks really sucks! We have watched the fireworks three times. Once from our unit at Blk79C, once on-site outside Marina Square and once from the old Blk28. The Blk79 and Blk28 experience aside, even if you were there on site, it is also a terribly dissapointing show. I mean, where are the BIG BANGS???? All we see were small streamers going up and all ending in an anti-climax with no explosions! Excuse me, but what kick does the organsers expect the audience to get out of this??? Or maybe we did not get close enough to the action and have a even better view...but hello...there were also hundreds of people also watching outside Marina Square areas...do the organisers expect to dissapoint so many people by only putting up a great show with just low-level fireworks?? The overall feeling about this year's CNY fireworks is - What a waste of time! Might as well don't do! BTW, last year's fireworks were really good. It was in your face, spontaneous, with HUGE Explosions EVERYTIME - this is how fireworks should be like and this is how we should usher in the New Year. Come on, we already are deprived of firecrackers, at least give us some good fireworks
-
Thanks to the wonders of wallpapers

From our New Year fireworks watching experience, even if we can see the fireworks, it still lack the kicks cos cannot hear the BOOM! Therefore to be able to see the fireworks is only half the story...

Hi Jacky777, I kind of agree, although I must say that the D and E southward facing units still have a better view as they are not blocked by the massive HDB Hub. The high floors for BlkC can only look over HDB hub slightly and see the tips of some of the Raffles Place buildings - still not shiok lah... However, on the downside, the D and E units have recessed living rooms and the view to one side will be blocked by a wall. However, this is not an issue for the bedrooms as they are all outward facing. Superb view I must say... But no point comparing lah, it is already a blessing to be able to stay at Blk79, those under SERS even more luckier. Someone ever liken it to striking TOTO too, so no matter which blk or unit you are at, it is still a great place to stay!

Hmmm....not too sure about this. While it may be good for TPY to have something like the AMK Hub, I can only imagine that this will be at the expense of the lovely heartland shops. Blk79 residents would also have to put up with construction noise and air pollution for at least another 2 yrs... BTW, did anyone notice that the plot of land in front of the Entertainment Centre had already been boarded up? I guess construction of the 14 story office building will start soon and its only a matter of time before BlkC residents will lose the lovely view of the swimming pools.....

Hey, how about a VideoEZY DVD rental store?

My son is now at Kinderland. So far its working out OK...but we were just infomred that they will be upping the fees from April 2008 onwards (and by quite a bit too)! The new fees before subsidy would be over $800 for full day, but still has to add another $150 for enrichment programmes....Wah...dunno can still take it or not. My annual increament also cannot cover the fees increase!

...and I believe that there is a large departmental store, Ang Moh, together with some other amenities shop at block 85 behind. Its not even 5 mins walk away...very convenient already!!
